So I bought the WUSB54GC wireless adapter today. My computer's OS is Windows XP Professional. Whenever I load the disk and click "Start Setup" a window pops up that says "This version of Windows in not supported."
View 9 RepliesI have tried installing this device on Windows 7 64bit machine. The install seems to go fine and the device works at 2.4G.
But I purchased this unit to be able to test a clients 5GHz system. There does not seem to be any place to switch from 2.4G to 5.0G.
I cant install drivers for Windovs XP both 32-64 Professional. Original CD tells me for x64 OS is not supported, also, when trying to install only drivers it just can't find it. For x32 same problem - can't install drivers. I've got Intel DP45SG.

From browsing these forums and the internet, many other Linksys users are experiencing much trouble with getting their wireless adapters to work with Windows 7.So please, Cisco, publish new Windows 7 drivers... I'm completely taken back that there is nothing to do with Windows 7 anywhere on your site, and disappointed at none of your products being ready for the new Operating System. Im stuck with a useless router. I've tried for hours and hours to try random fixes i found on the internet, force install drivers preloaded on Windows 7, and force install the out of date Linksys drivers....to no avail. I still need to activate my Windows 7 online, and i can't activate it if my wireless adapter doesn't work. I will keep this in mind when i purchase routers/adapters in the future. I've already tried using the ra-link drivers to get my adapter working, but every time i get a "code 10" error stating that "This device cannot start". Any driver that i do install from Windows 7 pre loaded drivers ends up giving me that error. And all the out-of-date linksys drivers don't even successfully install the drivers...

When I tried to connect to the internet I couldn't. the adapter was in the network, now it is not. Now all I get is unknown device. I downloaded the drivers from Linksys removed the unknown device from the usb listing and used the utility to unstall the adapter drivers. Followed the instruction to install new drivers but after restarting the computer the only thing that is there is the unknown device. On this computer the OS is Me.

When I look at the hardware under device manager it says it is working properly. When I downloaded the driver again it did ask if I needed ver1 or version 3 Since my device has no version on it I chose version one.I also have a new N Rangeplus Linksys router because I thought maybe I was having router problems but that isn't it. View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to install the drivers for the adapter normally, Windows 7x64 gives me a message that the device name "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" already exists and is in use, preventing me from installing the wireless driver properly. In order to get around it, I changed all "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" fields into "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter B" in the netr28ux.inf file to make the driver install under a different name.I tried everything I can to remove all evidence of linksys drivers from my computer, uninstalling and removing driverstore with pnputil.exe, but I cannot seem to find the originating files to uninstall.For now the way I edited the netr28ux.inf file works, but I'd rather be able to install the driver as intended.

The internet connection on my old computer has always been fine; all cables are connected correctly. However, this computer from work will not connect to the internet. The icon in the bottom right corner of the screen states that I am connected, but the internet browser claims that it is unable to display web pages.
