This is an older desktop, Been utilizing the net gear to get on the Internet for months and it was working fine,shows it is connected to ssid but ip shows up as 0.0.0.0 I have other home computers hooked up and work g so I located there ip address, can I input it myself ? If so how?

But I purchased this unit to be able to test a clients 5GHz system. There does not seem to be any place to switch from 2.4G to 5.0G.
I cant install drivers for Windovs XP both 32-64 Professional. Original CD tells me for x64 OS is not supported, also, when trying to install only drivers it just can't find it. For x32 same problem - can't install drivers. I've got Intel DP45SG.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.

The internet connection on my old computer has always been fine; all cables are connected correctly. However, this computer from work will not connect to the internet. The icon in the bottom right corner of the screen states that I am connected, but the internet browser claims that it is unable to display web pages. May the cause of this be related to any unique computer settings that a workplace may have on a computer in their network? Other computers have no problem connecting to the internet through the same, wired connection. The OS is Windows XP Professional.

we are using Cisco VPN client to access our corporate network.I have 5 new notebooks Dell Latitude E6410 OS Windows 7 Professional x64, with identical hardware configuration.I downloaded Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.440 (64 bit) and installed it on all notebooks. It works fine on 3 notebooks, while on 2 notebooks the VPN connection fails with error:
Secure VPN collection terminated locally by the client.
Reason 403: Unable to contact the security gateway
We use a smartcard for VPN access (etoken from Aladdin)

It seems the problem is in the certificate, but I verified and Cisco client says it's ok. It's also the only valid certificate in MMC->Certificates->Personal.Furthermore, also using other smartcard (etokens) of other users it doesn't work.
According to the Time Warner website, my Road Runner Turbo with Power boost is capable of download speeds up to 15 Mbps, which seems to be far surpassed by all wireless routers. So what are the benefits of routers such as the Netgear WNR2000 and beyond with speeds up to 300 Mbps vs the Netgear WNR1000 with speeds up to 150 Mbps?

I had this card working on this notebook with Windows XP, but with only 256mb ram it ran too slow. So I went back to 2000 on it. But I can't get the card to work, I've tried using the setup, the link light on the card does flash on and off. But in the linksys program just says no association with access point and says WPC54GS is inactive. I tried just installing the driver when it detects it but that didn't work. Also I try to start the wireless configuration and just get error 1747 the authentication service is unknown. What do I need to do to get the card working on here so I have internet access?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought this wireless g pci card and installed the software from the cd on to a windows 2000 pc. When I went to run the software I can only click on the exit button. I looked on the forums and saw that for win 2000 you should only install the drivers by allowing your computer to detect the card. I uninstalled the software but my computer wont detect the card now and if I reinstall the software I cant even open it up anymore. The card is not listed in the device manager at all. Would installing i the first time have created anything in the registry that would have been left behind in the uninstall and would it be blocking the computer from detecting this as new hardware?

He wants to connect one to the internet in a home. The other would go out to his shop and he would like to get the internet out there too. He would also like to access the internet wirelessly with a laptop at either end. He has a wireless laptop setup and it works. The shop is line of sight with the home with no obstacles. A wire will not be able to connect one wireless router with the other due to terrain features. His laptop can get the internet from the Linksys (the Linksys is set up in the home) while he is in part of the shop, and he is trying to increase the range so that he can move to another part of the shop.

I was using a netgear wireless g router (old) with the 4200 speedstream modem and got these results which I found acceptable. Now using netgear n router modem combo DGN-2000 and my readings are just over 12 Mbps. I tried reverting and still got the lower speeds. I tried isolating one computer hard wired still got the lower 12Mbps.It hasnt really affected my download speeds as far as I can tell but I did find it a little puzzling.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased a new EA3500 router and have fairly painlessly managed to get my desktop (running Windows XP), my lap top (running Windows 7), ipads 1 and 2 and blackberry all to connect to the wireless hub. I even have it talking to a WD 1T external hard drive.
BUT try as I might I can't get an old sony vaio running windows 2000 professional to connect to the internet. It talkes to the box and even allows the lap top to hop on as a guest but it goes through to a guest sign on web page and no matter what combination of passwords (i am sure i have the write guest sign on) it just refuses to actually connect. I never had a problem connection to our previous wireles router.
I have Lynksys router WRT54G. I have 3 laptops in house connecting to internet with no problem. A new person has moved in with a laptop that has windows 2000. The new person is not able to get an internet connection.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer. I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk. After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear. I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar. Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started. Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.
I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result. The card light blinks like it is receiving data. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router. Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine. How can I get my W2K computer on the network?
I just bought a Netgear Router WNR 2000 v3 and installed it. I got inside the router and could set up a Network Name and security key. However, I can not access the internet when I chose a security password using WPA 2, WPA-PSK + WPA 2 PSK, or WPA/WPA 2. It only accesses the internet when I chose None.( no secured ).At this time, my network is unsecured because there isn't way I can access the internet when I create a security key using the 3 options the router offers.

i purchased a Dell N7110 from Dell last week, and a few days later I purchased a NETGEAR PTV2000 wireless display adapter. It was my understanding the N7110 would support the PTV2000; my N7110 specs are below.Originally, I downloaded the required software (Intel WIDI) and drivers from the Intel website.
The laptop and PTV2000 adapter seemed to start fine in that the security code was given on my TV screen and I was able to enter it in the Intel WIDI software. Next step was to select "connect" to the adapter. The connection was initialized, as the green light on the PTV2000 was flashing and my TV screen said "connecting", then "connected". At the moment it said "connected", my laptop screen immediately flashed black, then restored itself approx one second later with the graphics on the laptop screen larger (larger icons) than normal. Approximately one second after this occurred, the connection was lost and the Intel software stated the following error: "unable to send desktop to wireless display, try restarting the application. If the problem persists, try re-installing the Intel WIDI software".
I retried the software numerous times with same results. I uninstalled then re-installed the Intel WIDI software and drivers with the same results. I also uninstalled and re-installed the software, but got them from the Netgear website, and then later from the Dell website (all had Intel WIDI software to download), which all ended in the same results (original problem still exists).After countless tries of running Intel WIDI, the program would on rare occasions, lock up and become unresponsive, while the green light on the adapter was still flashing (connection being made) and the TV message said "connected". The screen never changed from "connect", the desktop image never appeared on the TV, and I would have to use task manager to shut the program down.
Netgear and Intel websites do not address this issue, other than saying "try uninstalling then reinstalling the software", which I did countless times. Web searches hint the real problem is in the Graphics drivers on the Dell - I did find a thread on this site (Dell site) complaining the PTV2000 would not play DVDs or Blueray, and the person changed the Graphics driver, but now cannot get Windows to boot - I believe the Dell techs are currently mailing him software to correct this problem. Because of this, I am very reluctant to change the Graphics drivers as I do not want to cause the same issue on my machine...I have not had any problems with the wifi side of things, in that I am always able to initialize a "connect" without issues, and it tries to connect but just never completely does... tell me if the original problem I stated above can be corrected, and the steps I need to take, or should I return the PTV2000 and forget the whole wireless display idea?
Side Note: I can provide the exact softeware and driver links I used if required, but didn't as there really wasn't much choice - The Intel site, Netgear site, and DELL site all provided short instructions and only one download option; Win 7 32 or Win 7 64. I used Win 7 64 option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a windows 7 computer and a windows 2000 on a wired network. The windows 7 and 2000 previously played nicely although it was a bit of a pain to get it to work the first time, don't really remember what the issue was. I have a big old CAD plotter connected to a parallel port on the windows 2000 computer and previously was able to use it from the windows 7 computer. I was also able to access any file on the windows 2000 from windows 7, it all worked fine a few months ago. I haven't had the win 2000 computer on for a while but recently needed to use the plotter. I now get a log-on error when trying to access the win 2000 from the win 7, but it shows up on networks. The log-on error window shows a domain with the name of the windows 7 computer listed as the domain name, but nothing is set to be on a domain. I can access the files on the windows 7 computer from the win 2000 computer with no issues in that direction. There is no home group set up (think that was the issue the first time) Windows 7 is always updating itself and I suspect that's part of the problem, I am guessing something went back to a default during an up-date but I can't find it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a domain with a domain controller Server 2003. I have a backup dc running an application with server 2008. The shared folder I am trying to access is on an nt server 2000. We have had a mapped drive "I:" and have used it for years. Our copier also scans to a shared folder on the server 2000 machine. All of the desktop systems are xp sp3 with one W7 machine. A couple of weeks ago when user attempted to access the shared/mapped drive, an error would occur that "the drive was in use and they could not be logged on". Sometimes the error would say "you don't have permission to access the drive." Mind you no settings have been changed on the network. When either of these errors would occur it would occur for everyone but if I rebooted the server everyone could connect again. The same errors would occur the next day or 6 - 8 hour later. Now the error has occured "Drive is already in use and you cannot be logged in" (I have tried drive Z as well the drive is not in use) and restarting the serever no longer works. No one can access the shared drive. I have unmapped the drive on my system and have attempted to reconnect, I enter the path and check reconnect at logon and it asks for a password. I enter the administrator password (which is what I always used) and it just pops right back up asking for a password as if I entered nothing. I can ping the server with the shared folder and even logon remotely so I know it is not a physical disconnect. I am not sure what changed and have followed many suggestions found to no avail. We cannot access the shares or scan.

Now cannot access internet @ 1 gigabit, ok @100mbit, for the most part. sometimes browser will lock-up, firefox or IE. Never had any problems like this before. Have changed nic card, replaced cable modem, wires. Have delete trendnet software and reloaded, ran winsock fix, move router cables, ran directly from cable modem, bypassing router, move nic to new slot, ran ipconfig /release & reset. All to no avail. when I ping comes back good. NIC cards I have tried all seem to be working.
