It'll work once I click reconnect to connect to the network again, but still, I don't think it should be doing that.

Apr 2, 2011I had installed the wusb54gc wireless adapter on my desktop and I have not used the computer in a year. When I tried to connect to the internet I couldn't. the adapter was in the network, now it is not. Now all I get is unknown device. I downloaded the drivers from Linksys removed the unknown device from the usb listing and used the utility to unstall the adapter drivers. Followed the instruction to install new drivers but after restarting the computer the only thing that is there is the unknown device. On this computer the OS is Me.

May 21, 2009I have been having trouble lately getting a desktop pc that formally worked to now access the internet. I deleted the drivers and re-installed them and now it is saying it cannot renew the IP address. how to get this connected again? When I look at the hardware under device manager it says it is working properly. When I downloaded the driver again it did ask if I needed ver1 or version 3 Since my device has no version on it I chose version one.I also have a new N Rangeplus Linksys router because I thought maybe I was having router problems but that isn't it. This router is a Linksys G router and all the devices will work with it accept the one with this wireless card., I do want to change to the N router eventually.

May 26, 2011Whenever I try to install the drivers for the adapter normally, Windows 7x64 gives me a message that the device name "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" already exists and is in use, preventing me from installing the wireless driver properly. In order to get around it, I changed all "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" fields into "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter B" in the netr28ux.inf file to make the driver install under a different name.I tried everything I can to remove all evidence of linksys drivers from my computer, uninstalling and removing driverstore with pnputil.exe, but I cannot seem to find the originating files to uninstall.For now the way I edited the netr28ux.inf file works, but I'd rather be able to install the driver as intended.

Promiscuous Mode is usually the result of sniffing according to Wiki. Whatever is promiscuous mode. Also, I don't know what device br0 is. I do have my Brother wireless printer connected to the DIR-655 but it's device name is BRW0022581FB096. I was wireless at the time of connection problem, and the wired computer connected to the DIR-655 had been off.

Nov 12, 2011with my Linksys WRT150N router in "N-only" mode, the usb adapter WUSB100 doesn't connect. In the datasheet is written that it is B-G, but also N compatible..[URL] It connects only when the router is on "mixed mode" (B-G-N).
The device works great, the only thing is that it doesn't connect to N networks.... cause i think it is not N compatible. When i look for networks, Windows shows me that there is my N network, but when i click connect, after a few seconds, appears "impossible to connect".... but if i set the router on "mixed mode", no problems.

Feb 25, 2013I use a WUMC710 bridge with desktop PC and a Printer connected to it. When those two devices have been inactive for a while the bridge goes into sleep mode and loses the connection Back to my EA6500. Trying to print something from wireless devices connected to the 6500 elsewhere in the network doesn't "wake up" the bridge. Ihave to unplug the power supply and restart it.

Mar 21, 2011I am trying to finish a project and i now have a very un-natural networking question, but i figure that this is the correct place to ask it.
Tools:
Routing Device = Router.
Test App = Creates and Sends Packets through my machine's NIC via NDIS Driver.
WAN = Internet.
VPN = Connected over WAN.
I am trying to route/forward/nat promiscuous packets "TO" the Internet to finish my project. The packets are not addressed to my routing device, but it must take them and forward them on to a VPN connected over the WAN. The packets are actually created by my NDIS test app. This means that the packets will be generated on my local LAN, but will not contain the MAC or IP of the routing device. So they will only enter my routing device while it is running in a promiscuous mode.. how would you try to route promiscuous packets out to the internet?

Apr 25, 2013We have a typicaly environment, access, distribution, core, all switches are 6500s.I have a lab environment where machines should not talk to each other, so I think private vlans would be good for this. The problem is that the access connects to the distribution with a 802.1q trunk, while the distribution connects to the core with an 802.1q trunk. See the attached image for reference.
In this case, I would configure the primary vlan (888) on the two access switches, as well as the isolated (886) and the community (887), and set the associations.

My question is where to I put the promiscuous port? Is it on the uplink between the access and distribution? And If I configure it as I have below, what about the other VLANs that are needed at the access switch? Do they still pass through the trunk as normal, even with the private-vlan configuration? Or would every other VLAN need to be configured as a secondary private-vlan on the promiscuous port?

Also, would VLAN access-lists be a better method for controlling this traffic?
