View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is reading a full WiFi signal from my router. I am currently connected to the router via Ethernet on the same laptop. I've been reading tons of old threads to troubleshoot this. I'm at a loss. I have used this current networking hardware for more than a year without any problems. I do have a pretty old router but my iPod connects to the WiFi no problem at the moment. Here's what I've tried so far:
- soft reset of router
- power cycle modem and router
- removed saved network information from the laptop

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a dlink dir-655 router and an action tec dsl modem on windows 7. I connect with ethernet to the router for my cpu and use the wireless for the rest of the house. I used to have this working flawlessly but ever since I moved I've had trouble, I also just bought this computer so I was hoping for a clean start. I set up the modem and put in the ATT p/w and user name and installed the router drivers and set it up for PPPOE with the correct passwords but it only works when I connect my cpu directly to the DSL modem. I'm really struggling to figure out what could be causing this. Does the router need to be in some sort of bridged mode or something? I didn't run the ATT setup disks on this new cpu b/c I didn't think I would need to and I don't like putting their crummy software on my cpu.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to connect to a residential wireless network on a router that was installed up by an engineer this morning. When the engineer was here he connected an HP laptop using XP to the wireless router. At first there was an issue with the connection (seemingly the same error message I am getting now), he did something to the wireless settings on the laptop, which stupidly I didn't see, and it successfully connected. When I attempted to connect my laptop to the same wireless router I got the same error message:'Connection Unsuccessful'.I clicked Diagnose Problem and got this: 'This computer has got limited or no connectivity'.I first selected the 'Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter' but this didn't solve the problem. I then viewed the Wireless Network Security Settings and as far as I can see they are identical to those on the HP laptop that has successfully connected: [code] I then connected my laptop to the router using the ADSL cable and was able to connect to the internet, but I am still unable to get a wireless connection. When I view the wireless connections I am 'Connected With Limited Access'.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting to the internet. It has never done this and just started a week ago. I contacted my ISP and they told me it is not the modems fault. I have a modem and then it goes to a Trendnet 100mpbs Ethernet Switch. Then it goes to my primary computer and then to my laptop. They are all hard-wires. I contacted Acer and they said it wasn't a problem with the computer. When I look at the control panel it says "Unidentified Network" and has no other information than that. I already attempted to manually put in the IP I should be receiving from the modem, but that did not work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince recently I am no longer able to connect to my router from one of my laptops. The connection is failing wireless as well as by cable. My other two laptops are having no problem at all so I think it is a problem with the laptop.I check other posts and found I could do a TCP/IP reset so I have done that.If have executed these commands on a elevated command line:
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
- netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
I have restared the laptop afterwards but the problem remains: I am unable to connect to the router. This is the output of the "ipconfig /all" command (command is ran while I've had only the adapter with the cable enabled, wireless adapter was disabled): [code]
My laptop can see available networks, but is unable to connect to any of them.I have run Microsoft Security Essentials and the scan comes back fine, ran CC Cleaner as well as Malware Bytes and those scans both come back fine as well.I have also re-seated my wifi card, as well as attempted a TCP/IP stack repair option. However none of these fixed my issue. What could be preventing my laptop from connecting to a network? I have also tried to boot into Safe Mode w/ Networking, and the pc is unable to connect there either.I have also disabled all security on my router, it is just an open network no security, broadcasting the SSID.

My computer is searching and finding wireless networks, but when I try to connect to my router, it says limited access/connectivity.
I haven't used my computer in quite a long time (7 months) as it stopped working and is miraculously working again now (huzzah!) but the wireless does not, when it was perfect previously.
I have run IPCONFIG/ALL and the details are below. This is done with the ethernet cable attached.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI own a HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to my home connection. My laptop connects to other connections but my desktop PC and gaming console are connecting to the "broken" internet just fine so I'm assuming it's the laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem/router for minutes, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapter device ((It now keeps coming up as "unidentified network" instead of the original name for the connection; Should I be concerned??)), and even just stopped using the laptop for a few days to see if somehow that would fix it.
I've troubleshot it and it says theres a problem with my access point/router but I don't see how that's the problem if everything else is working fine. I've spent 3 hours looking into solutions to this problem and I've come accross that the router may not be giving the laptop an IP to connect too but I'm still not sure how to fix this issue or if it's another issue all together.
Basically my desktop computer no longer connects to the internet, and I'll try to describe the problem to you all to the best of my ability.I ran ipconfig /all and it is attached. The problem first started a few weeks back and I haven't been able to get around to it due to school. When trying to connect to my router it will connect with limited connectivity (in other words, at the bottom right of the screen when you check the SSID you're connected to, it will show the signal strength, but it also has a yellow exclamation mark indicating it has no connectivity. When I ran the built-in troubleshooter on it, I received multiple things:
- sometimes: "windows could not automatically detect this network proxy settings"
- sometimes: "no errors detected"
Of course I would've done a system restore long ago, however initially I thought the problem was the adapter so I kept re-installing the drivers, I even went to buy other network adapters to make sure my adapter wasn't the one that was defective (I have an ASUS adapter, the other adapters I've tried were D-Link, and Netgear which is also the brand of my router which is very old). Because of all these installs/uninstalls, the old system restores I had were gone. I have Windows 7 64 bit, I'm using wireless connectivity and cannot try ethernet cable due to the immobility of my desktop and problems it would generate around the house. I've attempted to change the IP address of my network properties of ivp4 to defaults, change the DNS server, check my DHCP, check my services, check my registry, and many other things found on the internet (including resetting with netsh)
So, my computer was having some serious issues, but the internet worked just fine. Me and a friend live in the same building and we're sharing a wireless connection and splitting the cost. I had to reformat my computer (it was windows XP SP3), but when I reinstalled windows it's SP2. I installed the wireless drivers and such, and those work great. However, I try to connect to the network 'Cay13' which is the one I'm sharing with my friend but it won't connect. It will just keep saying 'waiting for the network 'cay13' to connect to the network'. It won't come up with an error, it will just stop and refresh the wireless networks. I will then get a bubble that says 'Unable to connect to preferred wireless networks., Windows will keep trying.' etc... My friend's computer connects just fine so it doesn't seem like it's the router, and I've tried every which way from sunday to configure, connect, uninstall/reinstall the wireless drivers, etc.

Moved into a new place recently, internet has been working fine until earlier today I closed my laptop and went to make something to eat. When I came back and turned my computer back on, it keeps giving me this message when I try to connect. It doesnt ask for a password, it simply tries to connect for a few seconds before giving up. After waiting a few hours for the problem to fix itself, one of my flatmates got home and told me they are having the same issue. I have tried restarting my computer, turning off my firewall and restarting the modem.
