Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200-08p - IP Address Reverts To Default After Reboot?

Dec 1, 2012

I have a Cisco SG200-08p that's acting up.  After setting up 2 larger 200 series switches I pulled this out for its config.  I changed the default password and assigned the new static IP address of 192.168.0.103, that's it.  The settings applied and worked normally but after rebooting the switch it reverted itself back to the default ip of 192.168.1.254, it retained the new password.  After this happened a few times I upgraded the firmware to the latest version, reset the device to factory settings and applied the new address again to have the same problem.  It doesn't matter if I reboot the switch in the management interface or physically.  Is there a problem with having a zero in the third octet (that would be lame)?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200-26 Not Accessible At Statically Set IP Address?

D-Link DIR-825 :: Magically Reverts To Default Settings

Dec 19, 2011

What would cause my Dir-825 to magically revert to it's default settings?  This is the 4th time this has happened.We rely on a Verizon Network Extender for phone service.  It requires an internet connection to function.  When the router brain-farts, we don't have phone service... and we don't know it until we try to call out, or try to use the internet. We went to bed last night with the router working and woke up to it not working.  It's just my wife and I here.  I haven't seen the dog showing any interest in jacking with our computer gear.

When I access the setup utility and go to Manual Wireless Network Setup, the Wireless Network Name has defaulted to dlink, and Security Mode is None.  I have to re-enter my personalized setup info, (because that is what our computers are looking for), then all works fine again.I'm a savy XP user,  my wife has Vista (yuk) (she doesn't know any better; her daughter installed it).We are Comcast customers.  We own a Linksys CM-100 modem.  (When I connect direct by hardwire, (i.e. bypass the Dir-825 router), from the modem to any computer, or the Verizon Network Extender, they function just fine. Setup utility for Dir-825 says we have Hardware Version B-1; Firmware Version 2.02NA.

Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP. I see other posts addressing similar issues of reversion to default settings... but there don't seem to be any clear resolutions of these issues. On 2010-03-11, gunrunnerjohn posted, "I think there may be a shadow file that's actually in the FLASH that needs to get written back to make the changes stick.  I seem to recall there is a command to sync the RAMDISK copies to the FLASH."  Yet there is no more to this thread.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Port VLAN Setting Reverts Whenever Host Connected

Cisco Switches :: SG200-26 Switch Seems Unable To Reboot

Mar 9, 2013

Cisco SG200-26 (not PoE model). After a power failure, at restart the switch seems unable to reboot. The power led starts blinking in green, after some seconds the connected ports start blinking as well, but the the switch reboots automatically after few more seconds.I tried to disconnect lan cables, power cord, and reset to factory by pressing and holding down the proper button for 30s and more, but no success.In the small amount of time the switch's ports seem to be powered up, clients don't receive packets, don't ping each other or the switch manage address.

Cisco Switches :: How To Set SG200-08P To Factory Default Settings

Oct 18, 2011

We need to "reset" a SG200-08P switch back to the factory default settings and noted the "Quick Start Guide" implies the "Reset" button next to the power button doesn't exist and refers the user to the "Cisco Small Business Smart Switch Administration Guide" for instructions.  We couldn't find any information related to a "factory reset" in that document either.  Pressed the "paper clip button" on the switch but we still can't get in.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200-50P And PoE Configuration

Jul 17, 2012

I currently work in the IT field part-time as a end-user support technician while I am finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Network Administration.  I'm not completely new to networking at this point, but I am by no means a master of it either.  The basics of small networks (less than 10 PCs) and the lower-end of small business grade Cisco equipment are not unfamiliar to me.  Up until this point however, I have had very little experience with any higher-end Cisco networking equipment.

Now on to the questions, which may seem like the answers should be obvious, but let's face it, I do not have the resources to own much equipment myself at this time for experimentation purposes, nor does the school I am attending have a lot of financial resources to provide us with recent hardware to learn on.  What I want to know are a few things about PoE as implemented on Cisco devices, specifically the SG200-50P small business series switch.  According to the technical documentation, the switch supports PoE on 24 of its 48 ports, specifically 1 - 12 and 24 - 36; simple enough.  The switch is currently installed in an office that has less than 24 connected devices, but that is currently expanding.  None of the PoE ports are utilized as of yet, but going forward, there will be more than 24 connected devices.  Will another switch need to be installed if the additional connected devices (PCs and printers) are not using PoE, or is the PoE an auto-sensing feature that will simply remain disabled if a device that does not require power over the network cable is connected?  Is there some setting that needs to be changed through the management interface to keep devices that should not be drawing power from doing so?

There will likely be some additional questions generated by my inquiry, and I fully understand if these are completely novice questions, but I admittedly do not know the answer.  When I Googled it, I was greeted by a few hundred thousand results, the first dozen or so pages of results all being for places to purchase this particular type of switch, so I thought I would try my luck on the forums of the place that made it.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200- 8 Is Not Successfully Booting

Oct 25, 2012

I bought a CISCO SG200-18 switch. I added the Switch to my LAN and started the Switch (as described in the manual). The Switch starts the booting procedure (green blinking status LED) After a while, the LED starts to blink orange and green, instead of steady green.

In generally the Switch seems to work. I can access my whole network, but not the web interface of the switch itself. I also can't see the switch in the ADSL / DHCP rooter.

I also tried to boot the switch only connected to the PC. But ping on 192.198.1.254 is not working. The switch is in the same subnet like my other LAN components.

   Standardgateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

I exchanged the switch. But the new switch shows the same behavior.

I was configuring link aggregation between a Cisco3750 and Cisco SG200 and the switched network went down just a few minutes after the port channel came on.I rebooted the SG200 and all hosts came back up for a minute before I lost them again. The etherchannel was between two trunking ports. I never set link aggregation on the SG200, could that be the reason? All machines are connected to the SG200. The 3750 is only being used as a layer 3 device for inter vlan traffic.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200 / 3550 - Creating VLAN And Isolating PC On Network

Feb 12, 2013

I was given a task of creating a vlan and isolating one pc to access an internal website (192.168.90.15) on a specific port (port 8080)The pc is connected in the following manner:

PC--> HP Switch --> Cisco Small Business SG200 switch --> 3550 Catalyst 1, 3550 Catalyst 2 and 3550 Catalyst 3.

I have created a vlan 110 on the Main 3550 Catalyst switch and successfully added the pc to that vlan.However, that PC must be able to access the internet and an internal website on port 8080.I have placed an access-list on the main 3550 catalyst switch which is connected to our router as below:

Client ip address: 192.168.100.2
VLAN 110: 192.168.100.3

access-list 110 permit tcp host 192.168.100.2 host 192.168.90.15 eq 8080access-list 110 permit icmp host 192.168.100.2 anyaccess-list 110 deny ip 192.168.100.0 0.0.0.255 ? I was unable to access the webserver even after many attempts.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SG200 / WAP4410N - Multiple VLANs Without VLAN Aware Device

Feb 12, 2012

I have a Cisco SG200 26 Port Switch, 2 Cisco WAP4410N Access points, and a VLAN aware Router. I have created 4 VLAN's. For the sake of this conversation lets call them.

98 - Intel Vpro
99 - Management
100 - General
101 - Guest

The Access points are capable of doing V LAN tagging so I plan on having them tag a guest network as V LAN 101. That can get sent to the V LAN aware router and out. No problem. I have some devices, or management pages that I don't want accessible from the general network. (Intel V pro KVM, Remote Management Cards, AP Config Menus, Switch config menu...) . I need to be able to take a V LAN unaware device, plug it into port 1, and have it communicate with V LAN 98, 99 and 100.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560X Crash And Reboot On IOS 15.0(2)SE

Jan 24, 2013

I have 3560X-24T-S switches with IP Services loaded at remote sites that I have been having troubles with.  Originally, they had IOS 12.2(58)SE1 on them.  I have up to four diverse paths via point-to-point microwave at the remote sites.  The Microwave equipment is by Microwave Networks and is a Prodeus M series which Ethernet support.  The original issue manifested itself as hardware loopback errors on some of the ports that were connected to the microwave links.

My experience in the past has been that when a hardware loopback error occurred it is usually a bad switch port.  In this case however, if I disconnected all of the microwave Ethernet links and rebooted the switch and then connected the Ethernet connections to the microwave links again, everything works fine.  No hardware loopback errors.  That is, until the next switch reboot.  Then the hardware loopback error would return.  Interestingly, it would come back on different ports connected to the microwave links every time.  So if a reboot was done without disconnecting the microwave Ethernet links the hardware loopback error would change from one microwave link to another after each reboot.

I then went through and read the lengthy release notes for IOS version 15.0(2)SE and found several fixes that I thought could fix my issue.  So I downloaded it and updated a couple of the offending switches (not all of them were having this problem).  After going through the second update required to resolve the 'open file error' that happens going between 12.2(58)SE1 and 15.0(2)SE the problem seemed to be resolved on the offending switches.  So, I went ahead and updated the IOS on all of the switches with point-to-point microwave connections.

I now have one switch that was updated that is crashing and rebooting continuously when the Ethernet links for the point-to-point microwave are connected.  Again, if I disconnect all the microwave links and reboot, it comes up fine ands stays fine when the microwave links are connected back up.  It will work fine until the next reboot and then the crash and reboot loop starts over again.  Below is a portion of the putty log when the crash occurs:

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SF 300-24 Switch Won't Boot After VLAN Config / Reboot

Jul 28, 2012

I was trying to configure an SF 300-24 for use in my home and obviously did something dumb. It was working fine. The f/w was updated and I had configured 2 VLANs. VLAN2 was ports 1-6+GE1 for IPTV streaming and VLAN3 was ports 7-24+GE2 and GE3 for the rest of my LAN. I was plugged into GE4 and was configuring the switch with a laptop. GE4 was the only port still on the default VLAN1. I chaged the default VLAN to VLAN3, which forced a reboot and the switch never came back up. Attached is what I see when I connect to the console port: [code]

I can't access to GUI using it's static IP or it's default IP on any port and the console never reaches the point where I can log in. The System light is flashing green but the boot sequence never progresses past what's in the screen shot. I tried to do a hard reset using the recessed button on the front panel but it does not seem to have any effect, no matter how long I hold it down.
