Cisco Switching/Routing :: VSS EFSU Downtime 6500 Usage Configuration

I have seen conflicting information regarding downtime for this upgrade process and still have questions after reading URL. In this scenario, we have a VSS with one SUP in each chassis.
Are the chassis or modules rebooted one at a time? For instance, if I issue an "issu loadversion", will this just load the code on the SUP in the standby chassis, or will it load the code on the modules as well? If it does load the code on the modules, then I will have to wait the longest time from the "show issue outage slot all" before issuing a "issu runversion", correct?
Also, what outage times have people seeen on modules that support pre-loading? I have not been able to find any documented information on this other than it is faster, and the link referenced above still shows a 5 minutes outage for a warm reset on one of the modules.

I am on a call right now troubleshooting some latency issue. The CPU usage on the sup card is low. Don't see any drops or input errors. I am aware that the switch and its modules have capability limits. Is there command I can run which will tell me if any module is overloaded or if the fabric/backplane is over utilized?My chassis is WS-C6513 and sup card is WS-SUP720-3B.

I got problem with wake on LAN software.. The software unable to ON all pc's remotely if sitting under different vlan. Everything is ok if using the same vlan. Below are the network diagram & switch configuration.

After configured all the switches with the above setting, the software still cannot wake all the pc's using LAN. Base on sniffing, i can't find UDP port usage by the software. Attached here with print screen from wireshark.

I manage a small/medium sized campus network consisting of 4 Cisco 6500 series chassis (each with SUP720's) and a couple hundred Cisco 3550/3560/2960 edge switches. We recently completed a new leg of fiber that will make a completed loop between all of the 6500's .... before I make the pyhsical connection I need to figure out my OSPF entries on each 6500 switch.

I am migrating services from SUP720-3B to VS-SUP2T-10G= and moving to a VSS configuration between a pair of Cat6506 distribution layer switches. I need to enable QoS on these switches, primarily to trust dscp and also to prioritise voice traffic. The autoqos feature works for some ports but does not work on port-channel interfaces and port-channel member interfaces. How can I apply the qos settings for these interfaces in line with what auto qos would normally provide. My line cards are as follows:

I am going to change a running 6500 switch. I am missing a best pratice doc for changing a cisco switch configuration. My question is if a startup-config has an error (due to typo mistake, or due to comands not supported on latest IOS) and I do copy tftp startup-config then what will happen ? I want to make sure when I do "reload" the switch then it should boot normally with the latest startup config !

I am facing problem about dot1ad global configuration command and my topology is here;
Notebook >> (access vlan 100) SW2960 (trunk)>> (trunk) C6500
First time I have create SVI interface on C6500 and enable trunk on interface that connected to SW2960 and SW2960 assigned access vlan 100 on port connected to Notebook. Then I tried to ping from Notebook to C6500 on SVI100 which work fine.
Second time I tried to enable MST on C6500 and after that everything still working and I can ping from Notebook to SVI100 on C6500.
Third time I tried on turn on dot1ad in global configuration mode and from now I can't ping from Notebook to C6500.
Forth time I tried to disable dot1ad from global configuration by "no dot1ad" command and then I can ping.
My intention is I would like to do EVC which require dot1ad in global configuration but I stuck in third step and don't know what's does it mean for this command and how I can resolve this issue?

I have a pair of 6500's setup with VSS and there is currently only one link between then. However one end of the link is on Po10 and the other end is on Po25. If I move the Po25 over to Po10, will things break? It seems to be working fine now. I'm about to add a second link and I'm concerned about the current configuration. It makes more sense to me to have both ends of the same link on the same port-channel ID. I've seen documentation which states otherwise however.

I have to migrate two Cat6K series switches in a Data center to the new Cisco 6509 Series switches with no downtime. i know there are few threads on the same topic but none of them discuss about the downtime.The two Old Cat6K series switches are working in HSRP redundant mode. All access/Dist switches are dual homed to these two switches in downlink direction. In the uplink direction a router is dual homed to both Switches. Now my requirement is to completely migrate the configuration from the old switches to the new one in VSS mode without any downtime. Already VTP server is running on of the old switches so VLAN migration is not an issue. I will update the network diagram in few hours .As per now i am going to follow these steps:
1. Remove active links from switch 1 and shut it down
2. Monitor network and traffic impact on switch 2
3. Install the new 6509 switch along with switch 2 (VSS config already done in Staging)
4. Config HSRP and make it standby
5. Connect all removed links back to new switch
6. Remove old switch 2 and monitor network
7. Connect new switch with VSS config
8. Connect the two new switches together in VSS and move virtual IP to SVI.
During last step i think i will face some minor packet drops.

Is it possible to upgrade a c3750-stack one member at a time to avoid downtime? I need to keep L3-functionality up.
If I have one etherchannel from access-switch (2 channel-ports in 3750, in different stack-members), my 3750-stack as a distribution layer switch, and another etherchannel (also spread over multiple stack members) to core, can I upgrade the entire stack without traffic interruption?

I have a 6500 switch and i recently removed a module (line card) from the switch. The problem is that the port configurations of the removed module still exhists in running configuration. I was not aware of the right procedure,[URL] however, i would like to know whether it resolves if i reboot the switch.

I have a 5K with 5 downstream 3560's. I now have a new 5k that I would like to add to the existing 5K as a HA peer. What is the best way to accomplish this with the least amount of downtime for the downstream switches.On the 3560's, i plan setting up port-channels once HA is setup on the 5k's.

6504 Sup720 ----Dot1q Trunk ----6504 Sup270VPN SPA VLAN 20,30 VPN SPA VLAN 20,30Normal VLAN 10,40 Normal VLAN 10,40,Every 18-24 hours the 6500's- the 6500 go to 100 % CPU - the work around is to reboot one of the switches. Then they will run 18-24 hours.The fix was to only trunk VLAN 10,40 (Networks that needed to see each other) between the switches. If the vlans that the VPN SPA was trunked you would Every 18-24 hours the 6500's- the 6500 go to 100 % CPU.Simple design GRE IPSEC tunnels that work fine and the latest SXI code. It appears that if you trunk the VPN SPA trunks and they are the same VLAN that it going into some kind bridging loop. No errors. Just unresponsive.

We are running Cisco 6509-e and we are running load test and when traffic reach 80 mbps switch start reponding very slow. I checked CPU usage and it was using 100% and connection to the switch from outside to inside are 80K. once connection dropp Cisco release CUP and it start responding normal. [code]

We recently configured a stack of four 48 port 3750-x switches . We are noticing high CPU usage. "Hulc LED process" seems pretty high. This has coincided with VMware servers getting slow and non-responsive at times, perhaps a coincidence, not sure. Below I provided some outputs about how to diagnose it.

The process "HL3U bkgrd proce" is causing high CPU usage issues in a switch 3750X-24T-L. The IOS is 15.0.2-SE2.
show platform ip unicast failed route and adjacencies displays a lot of entries, I've seen up to 1200.
After restart HL3U bkgrd proce takes around 10 - 20 % CPU, some hours later 99%.
A coupe of times we got logs like this:

I had a lot of problems with TCAM table in the past and made changes in SDM ended whit that. But now want to be proactive and anticipate the problems in my TCAM table.
If the my template is "default desktop" they support a number of indirect IPv4 routes of 2k. I wanna know automatically by my management tools if this number reaches 1.9k.
That way I can take corrective actions before the problems starts on my network.

We have two c6509 budled in VSS. I have noticed randomly high usage of CPU, sometimes up to 99% in peaks. I have found that it can be generated by SNMP engine. So I unconfigure all SNMP things. But situation is the same. I would like to know if this state is OK or not. CPU shows are enclosed in file.

We have a new stack of two Catalyst 3850-48T's running IOS XE 3.02.00 (we are upgrading to 3.02.01 this weekend.)We noticed the CPU usage is around 30% even when there is almost no traffic going through the switch. We haven't seen any indication that it is causing a problem, but is this considered a normal baseline?I attached my config (with passwords sanitized,) show ver, show controllers utilization, and show process cpu history.
I noticed this behavior is normal on 2900XL/3500XL switches, but I didn't find anything relating it to 3850 switches. Does the same thing apply to the 3850 switches? [code] url...
