We recently configured a stack of four 48 port 3750-x switches . We are noticing high CPU usage. "Hulc LED process" seems pretty high. This has coincided with VMware servers getting slow and non-responsive at times, perhaps a coincidence, not sure. Below I provided some outputs about how to diagnose it.

The process "HL3U bkgrd proce" is causing high CPU usage issues in a switch 3750X-24T-L. The IOS is 15.0.2-SE2.
show platform ip unicast failed route and adjacencies displays a lot of entries, I've seen up to 1200.
After restart HL3U bkgrd proce takes around 10 - 20 % CPU, some hours later 99%.
A coupe of times we got logs like this:

We have two c6509 budled in VSS. I have noticed randomly high usage of CPU, sometimes up to 99% in peaks. I have found that it can be generated by SNMP engine. So I unconfigure all SNMP things. But situation is the same. I would like to know if this state is OK or not. CPU shows are enclosed in file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking at the utilization on a Catalyst 3560-E. I am running a test with eight 1 GIGE links RXing at 95 % utilization. All of the traffic is going to a TenGigE port. The device on the TenGigE port is echoing back all of the traffic received, so the 1 GIG links are TXing at 95% as well.When I do a "show controllers utilization", the port utilization numbers are correct, but the fabric utilization is higher than I would expect. The fabric should be 128 gigbits / second in this switch, and there is 7.6 gigabits TX/RX to the ten gig port. The fabric utilization is at 49%. I would expect 7.6 / 128 = 5.9% or possible double that. [code]

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have quite a few 2960's in a manufacturing environment that are experiencing a large number of Total Output Drops. The gigabit uplinks arn't even close to fully subscribed and if I'm lucky they run at a peak of 4 - 5 Mb on a 1Gb uplink. Something really funky is going on. The individual switchports seem to have the total output drops and the uplinks at 1Gb do not have any output drops and never peak above 20Mb over a 3 month span on a 1Gb link.

I noticed on the 2960 switches we have deployed that are running the latest IOS, 12.2(58)SE2, memory utilization is really high (almost 80 percent). I have not noticed any side effects but I wanted to verify this is acceptable. My question is does the high memory utilization matter? I see this may be related to bug CSCtw83946 but no resolution is mentioned.
I did some testing various IOS revisions and below is what I have found using a WS-C2960-48TC-L with default configuration and only my laptop connected to a switchport in vlan1. You will notice memory utilization will grows with each version but jumps drastically with 58. One difference with 58 I needed to use a different command to retrieve memory utilization. The output was gathered by pasting the output of the show command into the Cisco Output Interpreter on their website.

From the multiplexer 9 ethernet connections are terminating in Cisco 2960G 24 port swith and it is connected through fiber uplink to one Cisco 3560G 48 port switch in first floor, which is connected to server.
How I will configure the 3560G to make communicate with 2960G and bring all these 9 ethernet connections to server. All the 9 connections are from different IP. and server also have different IP.
It seems my 2960s and 3560s switches have enough flash space and memory to support the 15.0 IOS should I be OK to jump to this from 12.2(35)?
View 10 Replies View Relatedi have a 3560 connecting to a sp with limited bandwidth. i have one interface on the switch whose traffic i do not want to drop. i want this traffic to go into the high priority queue. i am not sure how this should be configured, but here is my best guess and my current qos configuration on the switch:

1. when user 1 copy data from server ,at that time who is in switch2 behind like user2 ,he is getting problem like when ping to default-gateway,or rto is coming and network is very slow .
2. when i open sw2,sw1,sw3,trunk ports utilization is very high except sw4 to sw1 trunk ports,who behind sw4 like user4 ,he is not getting problem.

Yesterday Cisco released IOS 15 code into the wild for the 2960 and 3560/3750 families but the link to the release notes is not working. Because I already have a whole bunch of 4500/Sup7's running IOS 15 I am thinking about taking the plunge with 30 3750-X's I have on order but want to review the release notes first. where they might be hiding?

With this configuration I can use port-based, but not MAC based. If I remove the first two lines and change the last line for this one:

Then, the computer with that MAC address got the correct IP, but then the port-based doesn't work. Also, I got this line in the interface what I want to use MAC-based:
ip dhcp server use subscriber-id client-id

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have quite a few 3560 & 2960 on our edge network - what I have been looking at was to access switches via web-interface i.e. web-browser. Only problem with this is it always gives you access on privilige level 15 which is not ideal as not all who we decide to give access to these switches will be admin and allowed to configure these swicthes - In the 3560/2960 data-sheet states:
"Alternatively, a local username and password database can be configured on the switch itself. Fifteen levels of authorization on the switch console and two levels on the Web-based management interface provide the ability to give different levels of configuration capabilities to different administrators"
Where as there is no mention of how to configure these two levels of Web-based management in the configuration guide.
As per the attached diagram: How do I configure the 2 ports on the 3560 (Ports 6 & 7) and the connected ports on each of the 2960 switches (Port 25) to provide redundancy.
If the up link from Switch A dies then I need the traffic to flow through the trunk and utilize the up link on Switch B with minimal delay (milliseconds).
I have a Cisco 3560 running as a Level3 device in my network running 10 V LANs and routing between most of them (nothing complex with ACLs) and running spanning-tree mode pvst. The main network is run on a net gear GS748TPS stack of three switches running MSTP.
I have just bought an additional 3560 and a 2960 to plug in. I have set them up with IP addresses and then plugged them into the net gear. This brought the whole network down until I unplugged the new switches.
I have confirmed the IP addresses aren't duplicated and that DHCP is not running on the switches so I can only assume it's something to do with DHCP. I cannot afford for the network to go offline again, so is there anything I should check? Am I running incompatible spanning tree methods between the net gear and Cisco devices?

I guess you could remove some servers from the VLAN, but that doesn't seem like a reasonable solution. What dictates the capacity of an SVI? The backplane of the switch?

Can a 1841 handle 100M circuit with 100 users on it? What would cause the router's cpu to be high? I don't think there are any viruses or malware on the lan.

I have a Cisco 1921 router and it uses 99% of CPU and i cant seem to spot wich process that is taking up the cpu. I have an interface with several sub-interfaces and i am moving data between two of those subnets, i tried the "ip route-cache same-interface"-command on giga bit ethernet 0/1 with all the sub-interfaces like gigabitethernet 0/1.18 and so on.
