Cisco WAN :: L2VPN And L2TPv3 Support On 7604 And Cat6500 Line Cards

If the supervisor supports a feature does that mean it is globally supported on a switch? Or do I need to check the compatibility of these line cards as to if they support these features?

Cisco WAN :: 7200 - Multicast Support In Single VRF

Mar 6, 2011

We have a client wanting us to support multicast across our network(They have multiple tails in single vrf, connected to our P/PE's(All 7200's)
(Customer is running there own RP)

As we are only providing multicast support to a single customer, On our P/PE routers is it still necessary to enable multicast routing globally, MP-BGP Loop Interfaces and tag-switching/mpls interfaces? (I'm guessing it would be as the client has tails terminating on multiple P/PE's?)

i.e.
Loop0 is MP-BGP loop
Router-PE1(config)#ip multicast-routingRouter-PE1(config)#interface Loopback0Router-PE1(config-if)#ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.255Router-PE1(config-if)# [ code].....

Or, is it sufficient to enable it only within the vrf, and all Interfaces in that vrf?

Router-PE1(config)#ip multicast-routing vrf NetworkARouter-PE1(config)#ip vrf NetworkARouter-PE1(config-vrf)#rd 100:1Router-PE1(config-vrf)#route- [ code]...

Also, is the MDT default IP an address that we (client+provider) agree on?

Cisco WAN :: Multicast Routing Between Vrf (Cat 3750) - Multicast Vpn Extranet?

Cisco WAN :: L2TPV3 Tunnel Id Range Different On IOS 12.2(33)SRE / 12.4(15)T

Jan 18, 2011

I was found the different IOS support L2TPV3 tunnel ID, like 12.2(33)SRE is support 32bit, 12.4(15)T is support 16bit.so the 12.2(33)SRE can't xconnect/l2tpv3 to 12.4(15)T.

I found the 12.2(33)SRE Local Tunnel ID is over 65535, how about reduce it less 65535? or some other suggest to xconnect/l2tpv3 on different IOS?bcoz using same IOS series is normal. like 12.4T and 12.4T / 12.2SRE and 12.2SRE

Cisco WAN :: L2TPv3 Vs DLSW Usage For Bridging VLANs

Jul 11, 2011

I'm currently using DLSW to bridge a VLAN to a remote site and it works fine.  I've been reading up on L2TPv3 and now I'm wondering if one is better than the other for my purposes (my hardware will support both), especially if multiple VLANS are being bridge to the remote site.  We do not have an MPLS infrastructure, so that's not an option.

Cisco WAN :: Can't Connect VLAN Interface On 881 To L2tpv3 Pseudowire

Jun 21, 2010

I'm looking to build (cheaply) some l2tpv3 tunnels across a campus network. I have a pair of 881's and I was hoping to xconnect the VLAN 1 intfcs between the two of them.   "xconnect" is not a CLI option on the interface configuration, although it is for the individual Fa0-3 interfaces.  Just for grins, I xconnected the l2tpv3 tunnel between each Fa3 on each router, and the tunnel comes up successfully and I can see a session established.  I am routing between the WAN interfaces (Fa4) on each.  However, L2 traffic is not passing between the two Fa3 interfaces. I can do it backwards, i.e. route between the Vlan1 interfaces and xconnect the Fa4 interfaces (i.e. WAN), and I can see broadcast traffic from the destination network appearing on the local interface.  However, I'd really rather have the four interfaces in VLAN1 tunnelled rather than the WAN interface.  I am guessing this has to do with ISL vs. 802.1q, since I'm trying to encapsulate VLAN1 as Ethernet and not as dot1q.

Cisco WAN :: 3745 - L2TPv3 And Routed Interface On Same Router

Oct 30, 2010

I have a subnet (vlan 104) working great across a WAN.  At site 1, Router A (3745) has the L2TPv3 tunnel configured while Router B (7204) has a routed interface on vlan 104.

The only thing router A is doing is the tunnel, so I'd like put the tunnel on Router B and eliminate Router A.

The trouble is, when I move the configs to Router B, the tunnel comes up, but the far side does not receive traffic over the tunnel.

Router B shows sending and receiving packets (per the 'sh l2tun session all' command). The far end router shows sending packets but receiving 0.

Is it a problem to have both the vlan 104's L2TPv3 xconnect interface and the vlan 104's routed inteface on the SAME router?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: L2tpv3 Vlan-to-vlan Tunnel On 890

Jun 13, 2011

I am trying to setup a L2tpv3 VLAN-to-VLAN tunnel. My setup has two Cisco 890 router with Cisco IOS Software version 15.0(1) M4. These routers are connected directly on FastEthernet port 8.

One linux machine is connected on FastEthernet port 0 on each router. The two linux machines are on same vlan. I am trying to establish a vlan-to-vlan tunnel between the routers and send traffic between the linux machines.

I followed the case study 11.4 from [URL] and configured the l2tp-class and pseudowire-class. However, the vlan interface configuration is different on 890 router.

I configured a vlan interface as follows.

(config)#vlan 200
 (config)# interface FastEthernet 0
#shutdown
#switchport access vlan 200
(config)# interface vlan 200

I don't see the 'xconnect' command in this context. What's wrong with my configuration?

Cisco :: Implementing The Multicast In The Network

Jun 5, 2012

The desktop team has asked me to set up multicast in our network with building PC's as they will be deploying a few hundred of them starting in two weeks. We currently do not have multicast set up, and the only experience I have with it was during my certification studies, so I have a lot to catch up on quick. They will be sending the build traffic from a single server. The network environment is simple: a 3750 stack as the router/distribution layer and mainly 3550's as access. The PC's that they will be imaging will be on one VLAN that is already designated for PXE builds. This VLAN is across multiple switches. Is it possible to just enable the multicast features on a single VLAN? I have been reading around but not finding much other that very in-depth Cisco papers.

Cisco :: NAT / Unicast To Multicast Conversion?

Feb 8, 2013

I am planning to get the unicast streams from different 2-3 sources over internet, and I am doing NAT for port-forwarding all those unicast streams to a one private IP. Attached is the setup for your understanding.Setup: - Both unicast streams will be hitting to One Public IP (3.3.3.2) on UDP/TCP Port 1234, 1236 & 1238 only & the same ports need to be forwarded to natted One Private IP (10.10.10.4)

1)NATTING these 2 unicast streams into one private IP(10.10.10.4) by checking Source & Destination based IPs and ports, but in below configuration I cannot achieve on checking Source & Destination based IPs and ports

Router configuration:-

interface GigabitEthernet0/0

Cisco WAN :: Multicast Routing Between Two Nexus 7Ks?

I have multicast routing setup between two Nexus 7K's.These Nexus 7K's act as the distribution layer and they connect to 48 different 4507 access layer switches (VPC) and 3 6509 core layer switches. The 4507 swiches have two supervisor modules.  One acting as active and the other as hot standby.  Let's assume that multicast is working on the active module.  If I pull out the active module the hot standby takes it's place. This is where multicast stops working on the switch. How can I get both Nexus 7K's to work with multicast at the same time. Here is an example of show ip mroute from both Nexus 7K's:note that DR02 has a lot more entries in the routing table.  Is this working as designed?

Cisco WAN :: Setting Up IP Multicast Routing

Apr 2, 2011

I have a application whose components are talking to each other via one multicast address 235.19.4.10.
This application is running on two different IP Subnets 192.168.121.0/24 and 192.168.99.0/24. It must be required that these two IP Subnets must not see each other thus they are configured on two different VLANs. Now we have a requirement where this application need to be installed on Remote Sites where Routers will be used to provide the connectivity.

The problem I am facing is that if I will configure the Remote Sites with some other IP Subnets e.g. 192.168.1.0/24 than Networks are unable to talk to each other even Multicast Routing is configured on Routers. Now at least as per my requirement, I need two separate subnets need to be configured on remote sites where one subnet will communicate with Subnet 192.168.121.0/24 and other subnet will communicate with 192.168.99.0/24.

Cisco WAN :: Multicast To Unicast Through 2921 Router

Apr 15, 2013

We recently acquire a cisco 2921/K9 router  to interface 2 networks

Network 1 : 169.254.XXX.XXX/16 on GigabitEthernet0/0 interface
Network 2 : 192.168.1.XXX/24 on GigabitEthernet0/1 interface

On the network 1 side there is a multicast source (169.254.200.200 destination : 225.0.0.1) on the network 2 side there is 1 receiver which is not multicast capable(old) but i want it to receive the multicast stream for the moment we configure the ip multicast-routing and each interface each interface with ip pim sparse-dense-mode then configure the GigabitEthernet0/1 in order to join the multicast group (using ip igmp static-group 225.0.0.1) and wireshark confirm that the multicast stream on the network 2 side from 169.254.200.200 -> 225.0.0.1 of course the receiver don't the stream, but if i force a "multicast to unicast" process inside the router it shall be ok.. after many hour of internet browsing i found 2 solution :

- NAT, [URL]
- multicast service reflection (Cisco documentation)

The NAT example don't work ,what is the best way to do this task.
