I've just set up dialin VPN on my PIX 515e. The users can connect fine but my split tunnel ACL is not applied and I have the following error in syslog No translation group found for udp src outside:10.0.56.2/137 dst inside_lan:10.0.8.6/137 If i try to ping my inside interface from the client, i get a reply from the outside interface IP address. Do I need a specific NAT rule for my VPN client users?

Pix 515e 6.3.4..A web server on our DMZ is exposed for external access.There is an "A" record (webserver.yyy) on a public DNS for this public IP.This works fine for external users. url..Now I have been asked to allowed our LAN user to access the same link and I CANNOT CREATE AN INTERNAL DNS RECORD TO TAKE CARE OF THIS, which means when our internal users access that link, the request goes out of OUTSIDE interface with a NAT overloaded address(111.111.111.2) that is in the same subnet as the URL is trying to resolve. Once it knows the IP address thru DNS resolution tries to comes back in thru the same Interface(OUTSIDE) to hit the web server in the DMZ and is not able to.
1- Where does the request from an internal user to hit url is dropped?
2- what can be done to allow this type of connectivity in the PIX 515e device?

The idea is I want to stop dialing if the dialing cost is over than appropriate amount.For example, if dialing cost reach to $200, then stop dialing and alert to the system administator by E-mail or something.There is the way to limit the timed-out but this won't work for that.
I need to redo the configuration on the new one?

I have 2 Cisco Pix 515E. Both are on the same sub nets.Cisco1 has internal IP 10.0.0.1 and Cisco2 10.0.0.2. Internal servers have default gateway on Cisco1. When I establish VPN to Cisco2, connect to internal servers doesn't work due to routing.
When I set static route on servers to Cisco2 VPN pool with gateway 10.0.0.2 it works. Is it possibility to do it without static route?
I have the following network.2 WAN links termination on my PIX 515e and all internal users connected to third interface.
Problem I am facing is that I have assign manual IP to users with some have full access to Internet while others have limited.
The users are changing their IP address while others are offline and I want to restrict them.
The only way I can think off is by binding IP to MAC as e.g ( Active wall software). But can it be done on PIX 515e and if so how?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently migrated from a PIX 515e to an ASA 5510. In the main this was successful. However, I have a number of L2L VPN's (all connecting to Cisco PIX 501 or 505). The majority of these VPN's are working fine. However, I have a couple of VPN's that are causing me a problem. It seems like the tunnel is established for anything between 10 minutes and 4 hours before going 'down'. I cannot initiate the tunnel again from the hub end (ASA 5510) of the VPN.However, if the remote end reboots the PIX, the tunnel is re-established.The ASA is running 8.3(1) and the remote PIX's will be running various versions of code but will all be 6.3(x). The strange thing here is that the majority of the sites are working and the config for each tunnel is identical other than the access-lists for interesting traffic and peer address.

I have a PIX 515 Ewhich does authentication for SSH via RADIUS protocol and fails over to the local database if radius server goes offline. But when the radius server comes back online, authentication still takes place through LOCAL and not the radius server. Following are the commands:

\I just configure my PIX 515E with version 7.0(4) and having problems to get traffic out on eth0 (if name outside). There is no problems between different VLAN ,all VLANs are configure on eth1. It is also possible to accass services on VLAN 10 (DMZ) from outside. The only thing I see in syslog is "Built Outbound" and "Teardown".

In the VPN configuration, I am using an RA tunnel group configured to use Windows 2003 IAS to authenticate users against active directory based on group membership and using a local IP pool for address assignment. This all works fine. I got a request from a single user to have a static IP assigned from the pool. I read that one way you can do this is to get into the user properties in Active Directory for the user and in the dial-in tab tick the box for 'Assign a static IP address' to have it give the particular user a static address for VPN, but it does not work. What I would like the PIX to do is assign addresses from the local pool unless there is an address assignment configuration in RADIUS. Basically does the PIX honor the IP assigned via RADIUS even if the tunnel group is configured for a local IP pool or do I need to configure the tunnel group to use AAA address assingment for the AD dial-in config to work at all? Does the PIX functions this way? I configured the user in AD for this but it does not work. I also have the no vpn-addr-assign aaa command enabled in there which might be the whole issue. I will try to change this in the next window and see if it flies then. Just wanted to see if the PIX works this way or if I am way off here.

I boot it up and get to the user prompt, type enable and it asks for a username and then a password. I am new to this and am have no problems with router and switch password recoverys but when I look at the cisco documentation it is a bit overwhelming and I am not quite sure what it is that they want me to do to fix this. I have downloaded all the password recovery software loads and have the one I need for 6.x which is what the box is running I am just not sure what it is that I need to do. Can I use that recovery software from directly from my pc using a tftp server?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just switched over from a T1 line to 50/4 Mbps cable Internet. The speed was fine with the T1, but when we switched over to cable, the download speeds didn't increase. I'm getting 2-3 Mbps up and still only 1.5 Mbps down. I inherited this network a few years ago, so I didn't configure the Pix initially but I have been managing it and can't find a setting limiting the bandwidth for the liffe of me. I know it's not the Internet because when I connect a computer straight to the modem, the speed is great. As soon as I put it through the Pix though, it slows way down.

The Open Port Checker tool from yougotsingle.com says that the port (80) is open. However when I goto access it the connection times out. The external address is static from my ISP, and I will call it xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. The server is at 10.1.1.20, and is functioning properly over the LAN.

I've been struggling to get ASDM (PDM) installed and running on my PIX 515e. The PIX IOS version is 7.2.4(30) The ASDM version I've copied to flash is 524.
I've followed the Cisco documentation verbatim, however I still cannot connect via the Java ASDM client or via http. When I try to connect via http, my PIX shows the following error: "tcp access denied by acl from..." I do not this this is a security (ACL) issue as I've tested after opening everything up and still no luck.

I've got a PIX 515e firewall on a branch site running version 7.2.4.7(LD) connecting via a VPN to an ASA at the HQ with 7.2.5 code running. After several hours it is no longer possible to ping either the PIX or hosts behind it on the branch LAN though the tunnel still shows as being up. In order to bring the link back up the local PIX has to be rebooted.The connection used to work with no problems when I was running PIX version 7.2.1 software but this had to be upgraded to 7.2.4 to support the new TCP normalization commands. VPN connections to other branch sites running PIX 7.2.1 remain active with no problems. The reason for the upgrade is to implement WAN acceleration between the sites however I still encounter this problem even when the WAN acceleration hosts are not installed.In addition to the software upgrade I added the following configuration to both the ASA and the PIX:

invalid-ack allow
seq-past-window allow
tcp-options range 28 28 allow

The ASA originally had this code but the PIX did not and the VPN was stable, after upgrading the PIX and adding the code the link was no longer stable.
I have the following Pix 515E Firewall, that has been working good for a few years. But suddenly, the Pix stop booting up. The only thing that is happening is the power and network traffic led flashes and the active led is off. So my question is that is this symptom a hardware or software problem and is it fixable with either new parts; or is my firewall dead. I suspect that it is a hardware problem since the active led doesn't light up. I cann't even enter the ROM Moniter mode.

I am facing high CPU util on my pix 515 E which is in failover mode.During peak hours the util is see rising to 60% where as in off peak hours it is normally12%.

1) Put a new switch for DMZ zone
2) Connect it to the DMZ port
3) Create a NAT for inside to DMZ with same IP as inside
4) Create ACL for permiting traffic to DMZ and apply it to outside interface
5) Create ACl for permitting traffic from DMZ to inside
6) Routing for DMZ in PIX

We have a PIX 515E running ver 6.3 and we want to implemente some sort of logging to keep track of who/when logs in to the PIX and if they make any config changes or to the file system. All of this is for forensic purposes in the future. I have already looked at some PIX docs but I don´t seem to find what I am lokking for.
