I can ping all nodes inside the network and I can open an inside addressed web page from my local PC, as well. So, it seems like it's only RDP (3389) that is affected. Remote access to those PCs are enabled, as I'm able to get to them via a different method (SBS Remote Web Access).

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5200 - AnyConnect VPN Client Establishment From Remote Desktop?
Jan 26, 2012I have set up an Any connect VPN client profile in ASA 5200. So, before creating an Any connect profile, i have uploaded the Any connect client image into flash (.pkg).It was successfully uploaded.While creating the profile, i have choosen the AAA server that i created (here its a RADIUS Server), specified the IP pool (192.168.2.x to 192.168.2.x),and assigned a group policy that i created.
So, in the client side i have installed the Any Connect VPN client in Win XP (version compatible with XP, same as the one that was uploaded into flash).Entered the IP of ASA in the "connect to" field of Any connect client. So, in the group field, it has auto detected the any connect profile which was created in ASA and i entered username and password and clicked on connect.It has authenticated the user credentials and has displayed the banner present in the group policy.
I accepted the banner, it displayed the security alert,clicked on OK on the alert, immediately after this it has thrown me a warning "VPN establishment capability from a remote desktop is disabled. A VPN coonection will not be established.".
When i click OK on the warning, it has thrown me another warning "Any connect wasn't able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway.Please try connecting again".
When i searched for this warning, i got a work around which says "you will have to modify the "AnyConnectProfile.tmpl file", which can be found on the machine where the client was installed (its an xml file). You need to change the setting of "'WindowsVPNEstablishment' from "LocalUsersOnly" to "AllowRemoteUsers".Since i installed the any connect client in XP, i found this xml file in
"C:Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplicationData CiscoCisco AnyConnect VPN Clientpreferences.xml" .
So, is this the same xml file where the change needs to be done? Because, i haven't found the setting "WindowsVPNEstablishment" in this xml file.

Jun 9, 2013I have a weird problem which I have already submitted a TAC ticket about. When users authenticate through AnyConnect into our HQ ASA 5510 they grab an address from 172.16.254.x. What we have been noticing intermittently is that when logged into our network through the client they are unable to access their resources at one of our remote offices which is connected over l2l to the HQ ASA. This problem just started randomly a week ago and we have been working with Cisco trying to create a solution.
My quick fix is logging into a device at the remote office which is trying to be accessed and pinging the gateway of the virtual subnet for AnyConnect users. When I ping 172.16.254.1 it goes through after a few dropped icmp packets and then the issue is resolved for about 8 hours or so.

Jul 15, 2012we have two ASA 5510s one in 8.4(4) and one in 8.2(5) in a site-to-site VPN setup. All internal traffic is working smoothly.Site/Subnet A: 192.160.0.0 - local (8.4(4)) Site/Subnet B: 192.260.0.0 - remote (8.2(5)) VPN Users: 192.160.40.0 - assigned by ASA When you VPN into the network, all traffic hits Site A, and everything on subnet A is accessible.
Site B however, is completely inaccessible for VPN users. All machines on subnet B, the firewall itself, etc... is not reachable by ping or otherwise.There are also some weird NAT rules that I am not happy with that were created after I upgraded Site A ASA to 8.4
Site A internal: 192.160.x.x External: 55.55.555.201(main)/202(mail)
Site B (over site-to-site) is 192.260.x.x External: 66.66.666.54(all)
I pretty much just have the basic NAT rules for VPN, Email, Internet and the site-to-site.What do I need to add for the VPN to be able to access the site-to-site network?

Jan 4, 2012I have a CUCM BE environment with a number of remote users with 8961 phones connecting to an ASA 5501 via AnyConnect. The phones register fine and can make inbound/outbound calls as well as four digit dialing to other users at the corporate site.
The problem is when a remote user tries to four digit dial another remote phone. The called phone will ring but there is dead air once answered and then the line goes dead.
This sounds like a routing issue to me. How to get AnyConnect clients to be able to reach each other?

I would like to two PCs to be able to connect to the server and access all the common files stored in the server drive - how do I get the PCs to see the server and not just the router/each other? I don't need the laptop to connect to the server, but we do need to wireless router to connect the laptop to the internet.

On local router, I route traffic for subnets 10.100.7.x and 10.100.8.x to the ASA. On ASA I have added these subnets to the profile for local-to-remoteA vpn.But the vpn will not establish when I attempt to ping from local to remote B or C.

When I configure inside to outside, the remote computers can't connect to the target machines.When I configure outside to inside, the target machines acn't get to the internet.
When I try to use the advanced NAT definition wizard, I can't complete the task because the only inside pool (?) or LAN (?) is "designated" and not available to select. I can't free it up without deleting the one working NAT entry which is the one that enables all computers to reach the internet.

Jul 28, 2011I have an ASA 5505 that has had a working configuration with several AnyConnect clients using dual authentication for weeks now. My normal process for adding new users has been to configure the user in both authentication databases and the onboard certificate authority, have the user connect to the outside IP of our firewall with IE, download the P12 cert after entering their OTP and then connecting once the cert's imported to download AnyConnect.
I had to add a new user a couple days ago and curiously IE (8) on their computer could not connect to the outside interface of our firewall, as if the laptop had no internet connectivity. I could telnet to port 443 from a command-line, and could even hit it with Firefox (which I ended up doing to download the P12 cert...). I can hit other SSL-enabled and standard websites from IE as well as Firefox. In addition, because AnyConnect seems to rely on the same mechanism to connect as IE does, AnyConnect can't connect either.
I then tested using a previously working laptop fully configured with AnyConnect and a certificate and now it can't connect. There are other previously working laptops that still work, which only makes the issue more clouded.
In watching the logs on the firewall, when one of these non-working computers attempts to connect they hit the firewall, a connection is opened and the SSL handshake is started, but it's never finished and the connection is torn down. Working computers complete the handshake as expected and a tunnel is opened.
I've checked IE forums for this issue and none of the fixes found therein seem to apply or work. Since this issue seems to only affect IE and AnyConnect's ability to connect to my firewall I have to assume the issue is there.

Nov 22, 2012I have a VPN server set up behind a home router in my apartment. I'm able to connect to it from other locations, and have verified that internet traffic is going thru the connection (ipchicken.com reports the IP address of the VPN network). But I can't seem to connect to other machines on the router subnet. For example, 192.168.1.1 connects me to the local gateway rather than my apartment router. Also, I can't connect to known good static IPs for other machines on the remote subnet, including the machine I'm VPN'd thru!
Note that in connection properties, the setting to 'use remote default gateway' is checked.
