Cisco WAN :: 1941W - Can Ping Internet From Console But Not From PC
Aug 7, 2012
We let cisco professional to configure 1941w router with EHWIC-3G card. So the Gig 0/0 and wlan clients could communicate the internet over 3G.So we bought another 1941w and copied the config over to new one. Can ping from console but not from client pc. The only differents between old and new is "ip source-nat" line. New router just don't save it to running-conf. No errors also.

I am currently working on a 1941w router. The problem that I am having is that I am unable to ping the switch that is directly connected to it and I am unable to ping from the switch to the router. If I take the address off of vlan 1 and move it to gi0/0.1 the pings work, but then client traffic on the wireless ap inside the 1941w fails.
Here is the releveant config off of the 1941w
version 15.0 no service pad service timestamps debug datetime msec localtime show-timezone
I have vlan 1 in 192.168.5.1 255.255.255.0 and bvi1 192.168.5.2 255.255.255.0. It was working before but something happened and I cannot figureout what. Vlan1 cannot ping bvi and viceversa.
I have a copper over ethernet connected to an adtran 908e connected to an ASA 5505 with a port 192.168.150.254 connected to the router on the Gigabitethernet 0/0
I can ping to internal and external ip addresses but when a device is connected through the wireless signal then the device cannot ping anything; what could be stopping the device from pinging any ip addresses internal and external?
I posted my current config for the router and ap:

From the router I can ping the 2nd router, all its host and all of the 1941w interfaces.
From the 1941w AP i cannot reach the 2nd router or any of its host, but I can reach the interface that is connected to the 2nd router but only one side of it.
Attached are both my router and ap configs. At the moment I am just trying to reach the 2nd router and its host so I can update the AP IOS image but cannot reach the tftp server.
I was trying to add an Access Rule then Nat rule, they applied ok then i lost connection to my ASA 5510.I cant ping device ip, i cant connect via console , only can acess via Management port, i have pasted Running config. [code]
From My Router that connects to Cable modem i am unable to ping website 4.2.2.2I am able to ping all other websites fines.Same website i can ping from my pc and all other switches fine.Router has only 1 ACL thats for NAT.
how to debug why sometimes the dot11radio0 / 1 go down? Sometimes, the lights on the router indicating the radio status go out. Usually, a reload of the ap will bring them back up...Maybe hardware is starting to fail? Just unsure on how to debug to find out why it turns off sometimes.
We are using Cisco router (1941W model) and our the WAN interface keeps going down randomly (sometimes happened twice within 1 hour, sometimes worked fine for 2-3 days before getting disconnected). After getting disconnected, if we unplug the cable that connects our router to the fiber terminal and then plug in back, everything works fine immediately.
We had asked our Internet Provider to come 3 times to check the network line, renew the fiber terminal and do some investigations, they said there should be no issue on their side. If it's true then there must be something wrong with the router.
We also enabled ip accounting on the router and saw very low rate of small packets coming to WAN interface.
During the downtime, LAN interface still worked fine.
Setting up a new 1941w router. Already have another one offsite that's working great. Based the new configuration on the one I have working and can route traffic, etc. My problem with this new one is that I cannot get into the embedded AP to configure. My configuration follows this question. I have checked status of the interfaces and everything is up except VLAN2. I've used the command no shutdown within the VLAN2 interface, but the operational status is still reading down. The admin status is reading up. All other interfaces are up and up. [code]
I'm having a problem with port forwarding on my 1941W router.I would like to forward ports 8001 and 2001 TCP from Internet to a local host on the internal network.I am able to connect to the local host from the internal network, but it does not work from the Internet.
Here is my config:
version 15.0 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec no service password-encryption ! hostname Router1
trying to configure a 1941W router... Spent many hours on these forums... The only thing I'm still stuck on is that, I'm not able to get an IP through DHCP on the BVI1 interface of the embedded AP.

I loaded the following MIB into PRTG 'CISCO-WAN-3G-MIB' hoping to record RSSI and ECIO values on my 3G 1941W cisco router. RSSI is now recording using 'c3g current gsm rssi' however ecio isn't recording using 'c3g current gsm ec io' or 'c3g notif ec io'.[URL]
can assist with a Cisco 1941w configuration problem.I have just installed a 1941W onto our network. It handles the routing of our block of IPs onto the internet through our ISP using 2 x ADSL2+ interfaces. his all works. For the sake of privacy, lets say that our block is 100.101.102.128/25.I am now trying to get the 1941Ws Wireless AP working.I have set up the management VLAN on a private range (192.168.1.0/24), the AP on 192.168.1.2 and can now access the AP interface on 192,168.1.2 from anywhere on our LAN.This tells me that the cisco is routing everything to and from the AP on the management network (192.168.1.0/24).
I have set up VLAN 2 on the AP, configured it to use WPA, set the key, created an SSID and assigned it to VLAN 2. I am having some trouble assigning both 2.4 and 5GHz radios to the SSD. For some reason after setting up everything using the express setup I could not save Beacon Mode unless I disabled Radio1-802.11N5GHz and now I cannot re-enable because the web interface claims that this interface is not enabled for the VLAN... but that's another question. When I try to access the AP, I am authenticated but never get an IP address. My best guess is that DHCP on the router is not responding perhaps because VLAN 2 is not routing to the main network.
The VLan2 interface on the router side is definitely enabled and set to 192.168.2.1. I have set up a DHCP pool on 192.168.2.1 that is assigned to Vlan2 (I did manually because CCP claimed there was an overlapping region.. even though there wasn't). I can ping 192.168.2.1 (or any other internal address) from the AP. VLAN 1 and VLAN 2 are set up the same way (no ACLs, both in in-zone, both with NAT off)So... why isn't the router giving the wireless client an IP address? Is there a way to simplify the AP so that VLAN 2 routes directly onto my main IP range?
As an aside... between CCP not wanting to add a DHCP range (claiming an overlapping region but manual entry worked), the AP web interface's complete lack of responsiveness (it's horribly slow) and the AP interfaces inability to provide a useful error message... this has been THE most frustrating thing I have ever had to configure.. With the rest of he industry making everything easier to use, Cisco seems to be moving in exactly the opposite direction.
I recently purchased a 1941W Router and upgraded it to IOS15.2T. After upgrading I was disapointed to see that it didn't have IPSEC VPN capability. What do I have to do to get this support activated/installed on this device?
I own a 1941w that is covered by a service contract and I'm entitled to download software for it. But unfortunately I don't see any option to download AP software for it. I need an upgrade for the internal AP to connect it to a virtual WLC.Apparently I need ap801-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JB.tar to get this done.I can find it under the 800w series, but I don't own a service contract for that so I can't download anything.
Our boss decides to purchase 1941w Router & he asked me to do the necessary configuration. my knowledge in CISCO router is a CCNA level & i've never configured an embedded AP or ADSL line on a router before.
the topology is as the following: as for the wired Network, we have one LAN (192.168.1.0/24) connected to GE0/0 (192.168.1.254/24) on router & has the ability to access the internet which is ADSL configured as ATM0/0/0
As for the wireless network ( now here is the problem) what i want is the following:
I want the wireless network to share the same network with the wired which means 192.168.1.0/24 i want to use WPA encryption how to configure the AP?!
this is a true challenge for me. After a lot of searching, most of the sample configuration over there is about creating two VLANS!!! & two DHCP Pool.
Can the embedded AP be configured as a standalone AP without configuring the router's functions? I need to configure one temporarily until we get the 1252AP for the location.
It looks like I got the controller-based AP instead of the standalone. My question is, does the 1941 (not 1941W) have a wireless controller? If not, is there a controller module that I can add to my router? Or should I return the AP I have for the standalone version (or the 1941 for the 1941W)?
I'm currently trying to get up to speed on a 1941W ISR. I belive i have most of the configuration correct based on reading the documents on this site. However, i'm noticing that my lan to lan network performance is very slow. Peaking out about 3mbs. I was reading some documentation that suggested MGF (MultiGigabit Fabric) might resolve this problem.
I have a basic setup in my test environment trying to emulate a branch deployment. 1941W connected to a access switch (3400).
- I'm getting slow perfomance (thoughput) between the vlans 66,30,10. Will MGF fix this problem? How do i configure it?

I have a customer who wants to do a static mapping in order to prevent any downtime for one of his public web servers. Any good example to follow? FYI, the edge device is:
CISCO1941W-A/K9 (configured as a zone based firewall)C1900 Software (C1900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(1)T
Something strange is happening to my Cisco 1941W. Every time I reboot the router i loose the running configuration of the service-module (Access Point module). The weird thing is that the router's configuration remain the same. I made sure i save the configuration by issuing the wr command on the service module console but still happens. My router's current IOS version is 15.0(1)M1 and my AP's is 12.4(21a)JA1.
I also did another test by making sure the startup-configuration was identical to the running configuration and when I reload the router still happens.
I've got a 1941W, and we don't have the password for the access point. I've got access to the router, but not the access point. It's not the default password (cisco) and it's setup to use username/password (rather than just password). How do i reset this device? I'd like NOT to lose the config if possible.
I've a Cisco 1941W router which is DHCP server for data-VLANs and uses ip-helper for voice-VLANs. [code] I don't know why I can't have IP from wireless voice VLAN whereas it is OK and wired voice VLAN and conf is the same!
I've done quite a bit of work with Cisco kit before (it isn't my speciality, however) and am currently working on setting up the embedded Access Point in a Cisco 1941w ISR.
The primary router is working fine, but I'm getting no where with the embedded Access Point. The whole IOS within an IOS just doesn't compute for me. Our requirements are really simple.
We have a 10.0.0.0/24 internal network. We want users to be able to access this via the 1941w Wireless Access Point, in the same way that wired users access this via the Ethernet port.
The manual re. setting up the AP gives an example where IP addresses are applied to the AP, which doesn't make sense to me, as we simple want the AP to sit on the same VLAN as the ethernet port.
How the AP is supposed to interface with the primary router? Also, we want to use a WPA secret key to authenticate to AP. Is this possible? The Cisco docs seem to suggest that WPA is only possible through some 3rd party server.
we have approx. 70 Cisco 1941W routers deployed in our company. I used to be able to console into the internet wireless AP by issuing the below command:
service-module wlan-ap0 session
However lately this hasn't been working and AP just simply refuses connection. Here is what I have for Status. I have tried reseting the Service Module to no avail.
Router#service-module wlan-ap0 status Service Module is Cisco wlan-ap0 Service Module supports session via TTY line 67 Service Module is failed Service Module reset on error is disabled Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled Service Module is in fail open Service Module status is not available
I have a number of devices in my house connecting without issues:
1.) PS3 2.) XBox 360 3.) HP CM1415FNW 4.) Sony Dash 5.) iPone 4g/4gs 6.) Asus EP121 7.) Six Laptops 8.) TV 9.) Denon A/V
My android cant even pickup the SSIDs, I stand beside and still nothing, the SSIDs are not hidden, Ive tried different encryptions, changed from AES to TKIP, tried different channels. I have two seperate SSIDs, one 2.4GHz with B/G/N and a 5.0 with A/N Available, neither SSID is getting picked up
open specific ports on 1941w Integrated Services Router. This specific router is a wireless VPN router that has a wired module and a wireless module and VPN so I'm getting 3 subnets on my network - 192.168.1.. for the wired connections, 10.100.1.... for wireless LAN connections and 10.100.2... for VPN remote connections.I know that by default all connected computers can access my Linux server data through telnet so the telnet port is open by default, the problem is that I have some other software licensing system on my Linux box that needs to be accessed through port 27000 and most of my users are using wireless connections and can't access that license because post 27000 is closed.what is the comand to open this post or any other port that I need to be open on the wired module, wireless module and VPN or at least poit me to somewhere where I can find all the commands that I can use for this router?
When I first set up the Zone based firewall I used the Wizard with a setting of "low".The issue I am now having is related to adding a new subnet on a completely different IP range. My normal network is 10.20.0.0/16 sub-netted down into /24's for each vlan.Recently I added a new VLAN with a 172.16.0.0/16 subnet. I plan to use this vlan for testing purposes. I updated NAT on the router to allow the 172.16.0.0/16 range to be NATTED.From the router I can ping anything on the 172. 16.0. 0/16 range and from a test machine in the 172.16.0.0/16 I can ping all of the 10.20.0.0/16 addresses including the router. My problem is I can not ping out onto the Internet from a 172.16.0.0/16 computer.I have checked and so far I have not been able to find any policies on the firewall saying traffic must be sourced from the 10.20.0.0/16.
