Cisco WAN :: 2 FR PVCs And Shared QOS Policy 3285

Sep 20, 2011

Background Info: I have a customer who has a pair of 3825s with DS-3 cards. They have remote sites with 4 pvcs per site. Two of the PVCs are running in one VRF and the other two are running to the other VRF. OSPF is configured so that one pvc from each VRF is running as a backup PVC with a high OSPF cost.

Under normal conditions, one of the 3825s is routing for both vrfs and the other 3825 is there as a backup. All of the PVCs can burst to a t-1 line speed  so FRTS isn't required. I should never see DE packets under this setup. One vrf/pvc carries voice and one vrf/pvc carries data on each 3825 for each site.

Question:

I need to make sure that the pair of DLCIs per site on each 3825 router operate as one from a QOS point of view. In other words, the data PVC needs to be aware of the voice PVC. The voice PVC will be a typical LLQ setup.

I can't have the data PVC consume all of the bandwidth on the t-1 at the remote end.

I know I can police the data side down to make the bandwidth available, but I would prefer to have all of the bandwidth until voice traffic is going over the link.

Cannot Get To Shared Drives

Mar 7, 2011

I recently built a server for home use as i have 6 computers in the house and would like to access all of my information on all of them. The idea was just to have a place for storage and not so much application use. i don't want to have to enter a password every time i try to access a folder and i don't want to use Active Directory if i can avoid it. The server itself is running Windows Server 2008 R1 Enterprise Edition 64 bit. (my office had extra copies that they had no use for) I have an iMac, Windows 7 computers and one Linux box.

It does not matter what computer i use or what settings i seem to apply, but I cannot get into the hard drives of the server. I set it up with 2 sets of 2TB drives each set up in RAID 1 for backup. i have done such things before in windows xp and i thought it would be the same.

How To Link Two PCs To One Shared IP

Jan 6, 2012

I've been working on a project which basically is two motherboards running as a single PC. I've managed to remove all of the bugs etc I've found along the way, as well as blowing up a fair few PSU's and am now at the point of having a fully working system. What i now want to achieve is have them both online and able to access remotely via a VNC application. I can already do this for the top board which has a seimens 3G router plugged into it. I can then use the top board to VNC into the bottom board as they are connected on a LAN (just a standard ethernet cable from one port to the other, no hub/switch etc), however this way seems a bit OTT. What i was wondering is if it is possible to link the bottom motherboard to the top one and have them each running off of a different port on a shared IP.

Connecting To A Shared Server

Sep 20, 2011

At our work, we have a shared documents server and also an email server to connect to. For some reason, on one computer only, I cannot connect to either my e-mail or the shared docs. It simply will not accept the credentials (ie my password for my username). It won't accept anyone else credentials either. I have set up fine on another computer, and on my home computer which is on a different network. I can categorically say that it's a computer problem as the usernames/passwords work fine on every other computer, but this one cannot seem to connect. I connect to the servers through a shortcut on the desktop, so i think it's the exchange or something I can't connect to.

Cannot See Shared Directories From Other Machines

Jun 25, 2011

On my home network, I have several shares on my PC. But I dont seem to be able to even view the shares from other machines. If I put the IP address into an explorer window (\192.168.0.4) on another machine I get the message: "\192.168.0.4 is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resouces. contact your network administrator etc etc". So I cannot even bring up a directory list. There are no problems for me connecting to network shares on other machines from this machine that is refusing connections. That has all happened since I reinstalled windows. I reformatted the system partition and since then I cannot get the shares working again (they used to work fine). The shares are in a data partition that was not reformatted. This is really winding me up, as there never used to be a problem, and I cant think of anything else to look into, short of delving into the registry, and I wouldnt know where to look.

Clean Up Shared Folders?

Jan 16, 2012

In the past both of my Dell Laptops running Windows 7 via a router and belonging to HOMEGROUP, have been able to share files back and forth - with the ability to read/write. All of a sudden, one of the laptops (call it #1) was not able to find the shared files of the other laptop (call it #2.) However it worked the other way (#2 could find #1). I did all kinds of research, checked they both still belonged to the Homegroup, sharing was "on", discover network was "on", permissions were "full", etc.

I couldn't get anything to work - when I saw a suggestion that I sign off the Homegroup on both computers, set up a new Homegroup, and try again. I did this and still didn't have any luck - then decided to reboot both laptops.now I have sharing between both computers. BUT - on Computer #1 - the shared folders are like doubled. I have 4 libraries that are shared - Documents, Music, Video, Pictures, and the listed are all the 6 folders that I made sure were set to sharing - but Documents, Pictures, Music, are duplicates of the "library". I'm afraid to change any settings for fear that I'll lose what I finally gained. So my questions is - how can I clean this up so libraries and individual folders are not both shown?

Can't See Shared Host's Name On Windows 7

Oct 16, 2011

I have 3 computers connected to the same home network. i name them XP1, XP2, and win7. obvious from the names, two pcs are running xp and one is running win7. I shared all three in the network. XP1 uses static local ip while XP2 and win7 use dynamic local ip. on xp2 and win7, i could not see XP1's hostname on neither xp2's my network place, nor win7's network. However, i could access xp1 over using its static IP. what xp1's hostname is not shown on the other two's network places? is that because of xp1 is using local static ip?

Cisco Switches :: SG-300 What Is Referred To As Four Shared Ports

Jul 16, 2011

I just purchased an SG-300 52 port switch.  I'm not sure I understand the use of the extra ports.  To the right of the 48 ports are a group of 4 ports.  Are these what is referred to as the four shared ports?  In practical terms, if I wire the 48 ports to different rooms in our office, and I have two other devices at the rack I want to connect to the SG-300 (a cable modem and a NAS Drive), what port numbers should these two devices be connected to?

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: Migration Of Shared DACLs From ACS 4 To 5?

Mar 7, 2012

Is there a simple way to migrate shared dACL to group/user mappings from ACS 4 to ACS 5? After migration using the Migration tool provided by Cisco I get shared dACLs and also I get all my users/groups transfered but these shared dACLs are not mapped to groups or users as previously. I understand that in new ACS we do not apply authorization directly to users/groups, but then if I had in ACS 4.x a hundreds of groups and each of these groups had a dedicated dACL (shared) applied as authorization attribute now after migration to ACS 5 I have to create separate authorization profile for each of these groups which is a lot of manual work. So I'm asking for an easy automated way to migrate authorozation rules  to new ACS version.

We have recently deployed Cisco APs (2600 series) in our org. but we are facing alot of bandwidth/speed issues. when a single user is copying or pasting any data into the network, the speed seems ok,  but when multiple-users start copying data , so the data-rate speed gets slower and slower as the users are increasing.

Can any one tell me what is the issue?  Why the internal data rate speed gets shared between users?     i think each user should bydefault get any specific data rate speed,  but that is what not happening on our end.

Shared Files Not Accessible On Network

Jan 19, 2011

I have a router-based home network in which the desktop running XP media center is connected by cable to the router. There are 2 wireless laptops, one running XP home and the other Windows 7.The laptops can talk to each other, and the desktop can talk to the laptops. But I cannot access the desktop from the laptops. I can see the (shared) folders, but when I click on one I get the message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource..Not enough server storage is available to process this command." One solution suggested in several places is to change the IRPStackSize to 15. However, if I start the desktop in safe mode with networking, I can access the files.I can also access the machine using remote desktop. One extra frustration is that this is a problem that has happened relatively recently. It used to work OK.
