May 13, 2013

we have a cissco 4506-e switch with ios version 03.02.05.SG . We ae currently facing a strange problem . Vlan interfaces configured in he switch are not showing input and output traffic, whereas the traffic is seen on the Gig interfaces mapped to the respective vlans . We also tried configuring the load-interval 30 , but there is no change . Interace 3/5 is mapped to vlan 5 . For this issue we have also done the IOS upgrade from 3.1.1SG to 3.2.5SG recently still the issue is same. [code]

Cisco :: Routing Traffic From Non VLAN To VLAN On Same Interface?

Nov 21, 2012

i'm going mad on following problem. I'm trying to get 2 networks seeing each other while one of the network is a non VLAN network and the other one is a VLAN network. They should use the same interface so i added VLAN e0/0.122 to the interface e0/0.Send a ping from my asa to both gw-IP's made me happy at first. In second in figured out that i cannot reach any client in the other network. For testing purpose i created an permit acl to any/any for both networks, but the packets still get dropped by the default implicit rule. (deny any/anyMaybe i'm to stupid for this

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Show Interface Vlan (ID) Doesn't Show In / Out Traffic Rate

Mar 13, 2013

I have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 4506 - Interface Access-list

Nov 14, 2011

I have one computer connected to the 4506 that management does not want this PC to have access to anything on our network except our DHCP server and the one printer that resides on our network.  I created an extended access list as follows.  Our network is the 10.10.x.x and the external addresses the PC needs to access is 11.1.x.x.  Once this PC is rebooted, it is unable to access DHCP to get the needed IP address it bounces back to a 169.x.x.x address and stops working.

Extended IP access list 2000
permit tcp host 10.10.200.242 host 11.1.200.1                           (gateway)
permit tcp host 10.10.200.242 host 11.1.2.151 eq smtp              (access from the pc to external server for smtp)
permit tcp host 10.10.200.242 host 11.1.2.149 eq 5721              (access from the pc to external server for remote access)
[ code]...

Then I applied the access-group 2000  on the interface the PC is connected to. What am I missing for DHCP to work and for this PC to always get the ip address that is reserved?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: QoS Limit Specific VLAN Within Trunk 4506

Jan 25, 2012

Need to limit the amount of bandwidth a specific VLAN can use on a 802.1q trunk port. Situation is that we have a pair of Catalyst 4506 switches which have 802.1q trunk ports into a Checkpoint Firewall, this in turn is connected to a managed WAN router (to which I can't apply a QoS policy). If the 4506 was routing the traffic it would be easy to setup a class-map to match the IP traffic and then QoS the traffic, but the VLAN in question is trunked directly into the firewall (no L3/IP presence on the 4506 next hop for all clients on this VLAN is the firewall). What I need to do is restrict any traffic from this specific VLAN to 10Mbps on the uplink to the Checkpoint Firewall so it cannot impact the onward WAN.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 7010 OSPF Passive-interface Default Not Showing

Nov 6, 2011

I'm currently working on a plan to migrate our 6500's over to our new 7010's.  At the time of the migration I want to tighten up our OSPF design and configure OSPF for "passive-interface default" then allow only those interfaces that should have OSPF neighbors to send the hellos.  The issue is that the command is not showing up under the OSPF process.  What's even more interesting is that the Nexus 5.x Unicast Routing Configuration Guide shows that the "passive-interface default" command should be an option to enter.

I'm currently running version 5.1(4) (though looking to upgrade to 5.2 during my migration testing).  I would rather configure the passive-interface via the routing process versus having to enter it on every interface.

Cisco Firewall :: VLAN Traffic On ASA 5505?

Aug 15, 2011

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 that I have configured.  The outside interface is vlan 2 and the inside interface is vlan 1.  Port 0 of the ASA is configured to be in vlan 2 and is connected to the ISP provided subnet.  Port 1 is connected to my private LAN subnet.  I have an additional router connected to Port 2 for guest connectivity.  Port 2 is configured to be a member of VLAN 2 so that it can access the ISP provided subnet.  From the device connected to port 2 I can ping the vlan 2 interface address of the ASA and from the ASA I can ping the Default gateway of the ISP provided subnet.  For some reason the router on port 2 cannot ping the default gateway of the ISP provided subnet.  If the vlan were working the same as a vlan in a switch, I would expect to be able to do this. why it is not working or what I can do to get it working?
