Cisco WAN :: 891 - Split Internet Bandwidth

Aug 22, 2012

I'm pretty new to this, and I've been trying to read up on what I should do. Here's my situation: we have a new 15mps internet connection coming into our building. We also have a new 891 router. We would like to devote 1.5mbs at the highest priority to one LAN which is just used for VOIP phones. We would like to allow one of the other tenants to use up (but no more than) to 5mps for their LAN, and we'd like to be able to use up to 13.5mps for ourselves if it's available, or at least 8.5mps (15-1.5-5=8.5).

From searching in here and reading the various articles on policing and shaping, I'm thinking that we'd want to set up Class-based weighted fair queuing on a per-interface basis, and have one interface connected to our VOIP switch, one connected to the other tenants switch, and one connected to our firewall. Does this sound like the right way to go? And would anyone have an example of a configuration which achieves this?

nat (outside) 2 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0
global (outside) 2 (ip address)

I'm familiar with 8.6 nat statements, but with 8.2 it's not letting me put in the same commands.

Cisco VPN :: 877 - Easy Internet Access Without Split Tunnel

Apr 20, 2011

getting internet access via a easy vpn tunnel on a cisco 877 router. Basically we would like roaming users to be able to use the internet via the vpn rather than using a split tunnel. The reason for this is we have multiple sites that are tied down via external IP access lists for some services. We would like roaming users to be able to interact with these sites through the central router and use the routers external IP address to acess the secured sites. I know we can use a proxy but we also use some other non proxy bases services at these sites so would rather direct routed access.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Split Traffic Between VPN And Internet Using Different ISPs

Aug 25, 2011

What we are trying to accomplish here use two ISP's (one cable and one T1), use the Cable line for site-to-site VPN and use T1 line for all internet traffic. We currently use the following configuration: Cisco 2820 routers terminating the T1 -> HP switch -> Cisco AS 5510 port 0 -> port 1 to LAN switch (Nortel 5510)We want to force all VPN traffic (using 10.0.0.0/24 subnets - 10.0.1.0, 10.0.2.0, etc) through a cable connection, perhaps on port 2 of the ASA, then all non VPN traffic goes to the T1.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 With Dual ISPs Split Traffic Between VPNs And Internet

Jul 1, 2011

I need to know how to setup my ASA with dual wan links. 1 is 10/10 fiber, other will be a 50/5 Cable Wideband link. The 10/10 fiber is currnetly being used for VPN's and Internet, (about 20 point to point IPSEC vpn's currently).

I want to add the Wideband link and use the "Tunneled (Default gateway for VPN traffic)", feature for the current fiber link and the new Wideband link for any other internet traffice. I tried this however as soon as I set my fiber link to "Tunneled (Default gateway for VPN traffic), I lost all connectivity.

I also setup my "VPN" link with the "tunneled" option and my "INTERNET" link with a default route to the internet. This would only let me ping internet sites from the ASA device but not from client computers, also the VPN's would not come backup.

I have tried the sla setting with a DSL line for failover and that works good, i've since got rid of the DSL and want to utilize 2 wan links for different purposes/traffic.

ASA 5510, SSM-10      1GB RAM
ASA version                8.4(1)
ASDM Version            6.4(3)
Context Mode            Single

Cisco VPN :: 5510 - Internet On Stick No Split-Tunnel With Limited Internal Access?

May 9, 2012

Is it possible to configure remote access (IPSEC client) to force all traffic through the tunnel (no split tunnel) yet still limit the internal hosts that can be accessed?

I have been asked to provide remote access (via ASA5510) with the following requirements:

  - the client should have unrestricted internet access via the ASA (the source address will appear to be the outside interface of the ASA)

  - the client should have access to only two internal hosts (192.168.10.10 and 192.168.44.10)

Is there a way to limit access to those two internal hosts, while still providing secured internet access? The only way I can see is to use an access list on another device (for example our core switch).

Internet Bandwidth Not Reaching Potential

May 9, 2011

I recently upgraded to the 107Mbps service from sudden link. The tech tested my signal coming into the house and it proved to be very strong. I then hooked up the Motorola Surboard Docsis 3.0 modem via hardline to my iMAC and my brother's PC running 7. He and I both did the speed test and we are only getting 50-75 Mbps. The tech claimed we needed to wait and the speed would build up, but its been 24 hours and still around the 50-75 range. We also got higher rated cables to ensure that there was no loss. I made sure the settings in the modem was set to send out 107Mbps and the Tech agreed that the modem was capable of delivering the speed. Both my brother's PC and my iMac are within 3 to 4 months old. The modem is also about 6 months old. why the speed is not clocking at or near 100Mbps.

How To Combine 2 ADSL Lines Internet Bandwidth

May 26, 2012

I'm going to combine 2 512 kbps ADSL line in my PC. i know that it would be much better to get a 1 MB ADSL connection...but the problem is where i live now there is not better speed than this! Well i have a PC with 2 LANs - 2 phone lines - 2 ADSL modems - as far as i learned from Google , by no means it is possible to combine them to have 1 MB data rate but it is possible for example IDM would works with one 512 and another program with another 512..!! And load balancing is the only solution for this which it needs a special routers ! it is somehow difficult for me to provide one ..!! so my question is :

1- Is there any other solution for combining this 2 lines?! I heard something about teaming.
2- Is it possible to use load balancing by software?
3- How about the efficiency and ping time?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Losses WAN (FIOS Internet) To LAN Bandwidth

Sep 24, 2011

I Just got FIOS internet at Home with 43 Mbps down and 32 up (measured speed). I replaced the included router with my old reliable RV042 (V1) VPN router that I used with my old service in NY LI. This has been working very stable for  week or two, but I use my old 042 to remote desktop via VPN from my work, that was limited to maybe 9-10 Mbps (Home to office) way down from the 32 up I have now (the office has 80Mbps down). So I researched that the RV220W had a VPN speed that was much faster and I ordered one that I am trying this weekend.Out of the box, I plugged accessed and just clone the MAC at the WAN port to match the replaced FIOS router. Power cycle and surprise, no IP from FIOS!. After trying a number of things, I gave up and updated the firmware to the last 1.0.2.4, and that fixed this. I still need to clone the MAC to void calling Verizon FIOS, but at least I get IPs and Internet with no trouble.Next, I configured a couple forwards for two web servers. I found about the bug in this same forum and just used the rules instead. Working good so far.

So now I test WAN bandwidths, and I found all kind of trouble. With the old RV042 and similarly to the included Verizon router I can do steadily 43d/32u. Especially at night is quite stable in these numbers. When I went and move the cables to the RV220W (exact same set up) the speed went all over the map from 4d/8u to 43d/25u. If I power cycle the box, things tend to be stable again around 43d/25u. So, after a while being stable in these numbers I start trying things to improve the 25u that should be around 32u, and recover the missing 7 mbps. Not much I can think, so I just randomly enabled the QoS settings trying to reserve full BW for my tests, and I found just that enabling WAN QoS, and nothing else, no profiles or changes in the Priority Settings, I go up to 30u consistently over a number of tests. This do not affect  the down speed that is stable at 43 mbps. The surprising thing, is why this affect to the up speed when nothing else is going on in my network? and also where are the other 2 Mbps to complete the 32 Mbps that I can do with the RV042 (V1) or the cheap included router? In my opinion, if I don't use QoS, I should get full bandwidth to whatever application/computer that requests so, period.

E4200v1 - Monitor Home Network / Internet Bandwidth?

Apr 7, 2013

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to monitor how much bandwidth is being consumed at any given moment for a home network.specifically, for the incoming/outgoing internet connection. My network is as thus:

DSL Modem -> Wifi Router (Linksys E4200v1 - PPPoE enabled here) -> Gigabit switch -> 2nd Wifi router (D-Link DIR-815 - DHCP disabled, repeats same SSID and password)

Most devices are connected directly into the switch, with one computer hard-plugged into the DIR-815 (I will eventually change this, as the 815 only has 10/100 ports).Basically, I want to easily be able to check how much up/down data is being sent for my internet connection. This means that I cannot use a program on a computer (I've used DL Meter before. Works great, but limited to a single computer).

The Linksys E4200v1 is using standard firmware, but I'm not opposed to loading DD-WRT onto it (was the original plan anyway, just never got around to it), if DD-WRT has this capability.Nice to have feature: Ability to see which devices are consuming what part of the bandwidth. Not necessary, but would be a cool feature.Alternatively, if there is a cheap (like $100 or less deal) box that can interface, say, between the E4200 and the switch, that can do this, that would work as well.
