I have been researching this for an implementation I am doing for a client and was able to determine it was not supported with earlier versions of 5.0 when the FEX is connected via vPC as I described above, but I can't find anything related to version 6.0(1). I have done this for other clients with 5000 and 2000 switches, but I don't have too much experience with 7000 switches.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install SFP-GE-T module on Nexus 5548UP Switch, but is giving the ‘SFP validation Failed’ error. The details of the switch is given below
Model : N5K-C5548UP-FA
The interface is configured with speed 1000 before inserting the module, still we are getting the same error. PFA logs for more details We have 8 Nos of SFP-GE-T modules , all are giving same error. We tried to insert the module on onboard as well as expansion module.
The same module is working fine on Cisco 3750X-24T-L Switch As per the Hardware installation guide , SFP-GE-T transciever is supported on N5K platform. Please extend your support in configuring SFP-GE-T module on N5K platform? We tried with SFP-GE-S module on the same switch , and the same is found working fine.
As a Senior Network Engineer I have entered into a bit of a debate with our Architect about the use of the mgmt0 interfaces on the nexus 7010 switch (dual-sups, M2 and F2 linecards).I would like to know opinion of the Cisco support network.
I believe the mgmt0 interface should left alone for control plane traffic only and Out Of Band management access (ie ssh). At the moment I have made a subnet for all VDCs with the mgmt0 (vrf management) sitting in a common subnet. The physical mgmt0 interfaces from both SUPs are connected a management hand off switch. The mgmt0s also serves as our control plane for VPCs. The VPC peer-link however is using main interfaces of the line-cards.
The opinions;
- The Architect thinks we should use all the mgmt0 interfaces for snmp, ntp, tacacs netflow-analysis and switch management.
- However, I think I should use a traditional Loopback to perform these functions within the linecards. The mgmt0 should only be used if traditional restricted switch access has failed.
My Basis;
the Loopback never goes down, uses multiple paths (the OOB hand off switch could fail closing switch management access completely). The mgmt0 should be used as a last resort of management access to CMP.
I can't seem to find any information on the Nexus 5000 support of netflow. I assume that means it doesn't do netflow.

currently nexus 2000 and nexus 7000 does not support dual connection. you can not connect to 1 nexus 2000 to 2 nexus 7000 chasis. But for the nexus 5000, you can. what is the problem to to support this feature on Nexus 7000s? 5000s and 7000s run same software.

Can 10Gbase SFP+ module support 1GB traffic on a Nexus 5596T.
The module for 10Gb is Cisco SFP-10G-SR. My scenario is connecting the 10GB SFP+ module to an access switch 1GB fiber uplink, will this work?
I could do configuration of a VPLS in 3750, I have doubt about whether the configuration is similar to that of 7600, but is so I could recommend some document to observe the configuration.

I went to test it today but could not ping the workstation from my laptop. I wanted to do some bandwidth testing with iperf but could never get to that point because ICMP connectivity wasn't even there. From what I understand, VPLS is just a layer 2 extension so they way I'm testing the circuit below SHOULD work, but it isn't. Spoke with the ISP and they tested the circuit end-to-end on their equipment which was fine so am I missing something?

For voice recording I need to setup RSPAN and the nexus5596 does not support RSPAN will the following have any impact on the nexus
IF I move the 3750-B to VTP server mode and run the command remote span on the VLan I need to Rspan its going to update the VTP data base in short it will update the vlan.dat file for all the switch in that VTP domain.
AS the vtp update reaches the nexus saying there is a change (keeping in mind the nexus does not support rspan not sure hows its going to handle that request and how its going to update its vlan.dat file)
Is it going to incremment the VTP revision number? can it crash the vlan.dat file on the nexus ? or do nothing and ignore the update and stop the update from proceeding to the 3750 A switch?
Does the LACP will be supported on Nexus 2000 host interfaces when parent switch is Nexus 7000?

Does Nexus 7K support Multiple VDCs sharing ports on a single line card. One of our cisco parnter engineers stated that cisco doenst recommend using same line card for multiple VDCs.The second VDC (Non-Default VDC) will be used four our Outside, and DMZ Segment, and to phyiscally segregate our Firewall from our Internal/Inside Core Switch without using a physical DMZ Switch.I know Cisco used the Nexus in this way in their PCI DSS 2.0 Compliance Document.
