Cisco WAN :: Netflow Support On ME3600X And ME3800X?

Aug 1, 2011

Do you know if the following Cisco switches ME3600X ME3800X support Netflow? I need to collect data on interfaces and export it to an external Netflow collector installed on a server. In other word, I need to be sure that those switches support the following command (or similar):

ip flow-export destination <IP> ip flow-export source <Interface> ip flow-export version 5 ip flow-cache timeout active 1 ip flow-cache timeout inactive 15 snmp-server ifindex persist !

Cisco WAN :: 7600 - Limitations Of NetFlow V9 Support

Apr 23, 2012

What are the limitations of Net flow v9 support on the 7600 platform for the SR code releases?

I know that Flexible Net flow is only available on newer releases with some newer hardware.   Flexible Net flow gives you the ability to provide full support for Netflow v9 as well as IPFIX.

However, the documentation indicates that Net flow v9 is still supported in the SR code.   So I am just trying to find out what are the limitations in how Net flow v9 is implemented without "Flexible Net flow".   The Cisco TAC was unable to provide me any documentation about this.

Cisco WAN :: Cat3750 / Unable To Support Netflow?

Sep 25, 2010

I currently have Netflow enabled on all of my routers in my network.  However, I have a Cat3750, which does not support Netflow.  The 3750 is at a larger remote site and I need visibility into the traffic that is traversing internal to that switch.  All VLANs are configured on the 3750.  I have an extra Cisco router, which I have theorized I could use as a Netflow probe.

The 2811 Router has to FastEthernet ports.F0/0 would be configured with no IP Address and would be connected to the 3750 on G0/1 with no VLANs configured.F0/1 would be configured with a static IP and connected to the 3750 on port G/02 with the appropriate VLAN to ensure network connectivity.

On the 3750, configure a monitor session with a destination of Interface G0/1.On the 2811, configure netflow to sent to the Netflow server and set F0/0 for ip flow ingress.Obviously, it doesn't work.  But I cannot figure out why.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Netflow Support On 3560 / 3750X Platforms

Feb 8, 2012

I'm looking at implementing a new DMZ and wanted Netflow capability for security monitoring.The architectural principles I have to adhere to dictate that the switches within the DMZ are layer 2 however to get Netflow I need a minimum of a 3560/3750X, Network Services module, IP Base IOS with ip routing and CEF enabled.To do this and still keep the switch functioning as a layer 2 device the intention was not to configure SVI's or any static/dynamic routing protocols.Will Netflow still work in that scenario?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ME3600X Ip Accounting / Net-flow

Jul 26, 2012

Struggling to find any documentation that states both "ip accounting & netflow" are supported on the new ME3600 switches. I have tried both a 12 and 15 release of software. Netflow produces no data what so ever, ip accounting only produces data (of the global network) when configured on my uplink (running MP-BGP network) unable to get specific data for user networks in seperate VRFs. Is this a case of the commands being there but not being supported?

Cisco WAN :: ME3600X Redistribute BGP To ISIS At Multiple Points In Network

Feb 28, 2012

I have an Metro network running ISIS to different locations. There are severals vrf's on different VLAN's with separate ISIS routing processes. ISIS is running in L2-Only There are two redundant hub routers (ME3600X) that are placed centrally.Connected to each of the ME3600X is an ISR2951 that connects to the internet and handling backup connections over DMVPN. Over those DMVPN tunnels I run MPLS over GRE and routing with BGP. The leaves are IBGP neighbours, and the central ISRs are route-reflectors. In those routers I redistribute from BGP to ISIS and vice versa. The IBGP has an admin distance of 200 and the ISIS route has 115, so in normal operations the ISIS route is installed in the FIB.

My problem is that when an primary connection goes down, I want the backup route via the DMVPN to be redistributed from BGP in to ISIS, and the traffic to go over the DMVPN instead. But what will happen is that when the ISIS route over the primary connection disapear both my ISR's will compete in advertising the route, and as one of the ISR's is advertising it the other one recives it and since ISIS distance are better it will prefer that one, and the other way around. So my routes are coming and going, and everything is unstable. With just one ISR, it works as it should.I tag the route redistributed in to ISIS, but there is no way to add a incoming distribute list to the interface of the ISR in ISIS, otherwise I might have stopped the route in to the ISR if it was advertised by the other ISR.

Also tried to put the ISR's in different L1 areas in ISIS and redistributed L2 to L1 in the ME3600X with an route-map filtering the routes learned from BGP from the ISR's. That works for failing over, but then I'm stuck on the DMVPN bacause when the primary way comes back again, the L1 learned from the ISR is prefered before the L2 learned from the neighbor over the Metro network.

I was thinking of extending the BGP in to the ME3600X, I could of course use EIGRP with distribute-list's between the ME end the ISR. [code]

Cisco :: Netflow Restart On ASA5500

Feb 5, 2013

I have an issue with Netflow that I have been unable to solve. I have an ASA5510 that is sending netflow data to a FogLight NMS and it works fine until I reboot the server. After the server is rebooted, the flows no longer are received until I reload the ASA. Once the ASA is rebooted, flows work fine. I can remove and reconfigure the netflow configuration on the ASA and that will  start the netflow again, but that is painful.

Is there any way to easily stop/restart or re-initiate the netflow from the ASA easily?

Cisco :: Setting Up Netflow On Nexus 7K

May 22, 2013

I was trying to get Netflow setup on one of my 7K VDCs and ran into a problem.  While netflow data was reaching the collector, IP src/dst information was not appearing in the analyzer tool.  I could not see any information about conversations.  So I contacted the company that makes the collector/analyzer and the directed me to a blog on their site and told me to setup the 7K exactly as it is described in the blog post.  I did and a bit later the ip src/dst address information appeared.  So the only difference between the two configurations was that in the first case I tried to define a record and in the second case, no record was defined and instead the orginial-netflow parameter was used in the "flow monitor" section. [code]

I referenced the document "Cisco Nexus 7000 Series NX-OS System Management Configuration Guide,Release 6.x", Chapter 19 - Configuring NetFlow.It's clear to me that I didn't do something right in defining my own record since that's really the only difference between the config that worked vs the config that didn't.  However, the documentation I referenced doesn't really provide useful information about how to create a record (above and beyond what I can already see by typing '?' at the CLI).

For example, the "match" command makes no sense to me.  Usually when you have a match command it is accompanied by some sort of ACL.  In the "flow record" section a match command would be something like "match ipv4 source address" but that's it.  What does that mean?  Match anything that has a IPv4 source address??  That doesn't make much sense.  The collect commands are equally as bewildering.  If I want to define my own record (and not use the original-netflow parameter) what do I need to do in the "flow record" sub-configuration to get Nexus to send ip src/dst information to the collector (which, I would think, is basic information to send - what good is netflow data without it)?
