View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a DIR-601 for about a year now. Since I've got it I get errors telling me the DNS server is unavailable randomly, so I reset my modem and router, do the ipconfig windows commands, but this time it seems as if the wireless isn't working. This computer is connected to the router via wire and can connect to the internet just fine, but any wireless devices cannot. On the front of the router the wireless icon is just blinking. Also, I am not able to connect to the router login page through it's IP address, it just times out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a F5D8236-4 v2 wireless router. I have had problems with this router nearly since I bought it having to unplug it to reset at least once a day. Now it connects my hardwired PC to the internet, but the wireless led is blinking red. My network ID shows up on my wireless devices, allows me to choose connect and states connected on my wireless network tray icon, but then 2 seconds later it is not connected again. Is this simply a hardware failure that means I will have to buy another new router after only 6 months?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a strange issue with an 1142 AP. I have a 5508 WLC at my corporate HQ and have AP's in many locations, connected by MPLS WAN. I have one site where the 1142 is blinking green and doesn't associate with the WLC. I have tried a different switch port with the AP (didn't work) and I know that the switch port is good because I have a 1252 that works just fine at this remote location. The really weird part is that the AP is blinking green, but the switch port shows that it is not connected and the green port light on the 3560 switch is not lit. I have verified wiring in the closet, but unfortunately the 1142 AP is hanging 40ft high in a shop and I don't have access to it.Is it possible that there's a bad rj-45 termination that is allowing PoE to the AP, but no data?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using an E2500 and the Power LED started blinking this week. From the manual, this means “Flashes slowly during bootup, during firmware upgrades, and druing a Wi-Fi-Protected Setup Connection.” We have a wireless printer (wireless disabled), and a Kindle that does use wireless. All other computers are hard wired. I have not started a Wi-Fi protected setup. The router has been in use since the third week in October, and is more or less OK even though the Power LED is flashing. How do I get the Power LED to stop flashing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with a LinkSys WRT610N router (v1).
I have just bought it used. The problems: I see the power led blinking all the time. I can't connect to 192.168.1.1. I do not notice any effect on the leds when pressing the reset button (I feel a soft click when I do that, but none of the leds seem to realize). The manual states that the led should stop blinking after the "self-diagnostics" ends.
My configuration is DSL connection (by AT&T, phone cable), a Siemens 4100 modem, an ethernet cable into the LinkSys router, then an ethernet cable into a Linux PC. Everything is wired. I see the green light of the LAN connection to my PC, the world blue icon and the USB icon stable on, a shy orange led on in the middle (wireless?) and the power blue led blinking. The PC is configured with DHCP, and I can access both the modem (192.168.0.1) and the internet. The gateway address is the one of the modem (again 192.168.0.1). In summary, the ethernet of the router seems to work, but the router is completely transparent, inaccessible, unconfigurable, apparently unresponsive. Trying to connect to 192.168.1.1 (the supposed default address of the web interface of the router, which is different from the 192.168.0.1 of the modem) I get a timeout error, and I can't ping that address. The modem is configured to handle the PPPoE connection, which I am not sure what it means but the text description suggests in this mode I should be able to access the router, provided that its address is not conflicting with the modem's. If I disconnect the modem from the router, DHCP does not get any address. If I force one, 192.168.1.1 still does not respond to pings.
So Is it normal not to notice any reaction when hitting the reset button? is the object just broken, except that the ethernet subsystem still works?
I have a problem with three AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 that joined the controller and the status led turns to yellow after joining the controller while other LEDs are blinking green. The APs has no coverage at all although the WCS shows that there is coverage and the 4400WLC shows that the AP interfaces are UP. (The ethernet interface and tha 802.11b,g radio interface is up).The SSID broadcast is enabled. On the switch the interface is up and there is traffic going in and out of the LAP.I tired power reset and factory reset for the APs but the problem remains the same.

I can't access 192.168.1.1 via my browser either. Is there anything else that I can try before considering it defective?
I went online with a tech real quick before I found I beyond complimentary tech support. They say my router is working like a switch. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I recently upgraded from a WRT54GS to a WRT160N v2, all was well and good for about 3 days. Then I would lose my internet connection every 5 minutes or so, it would fix itself by the time I could open up command prompt and start pinging to pin point the problem. I decided I would update the firmware to see if that would fix the issue. Since doing that the power light has been blinking non stop. I've tried restoring it to factory defaults by holding the reset button for 30seconds, turning it off for 2 minutes and back on. That little blue light just keeps flashing. I can't even access the router setting page using 192.168.1.1. My OS is Windows xp x64 sp2, and I have DSL.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I came home tonight, the lights on my E1000 hardware version 1 (that I have had for only 9 months) were, as best as I can describe, blinking like a digital clock blinks 12:00 over and over. All of the blue LEDs would light up at once, and go off, repeatedly and rapidly. This is the second time this has happened - the first time (about two weeks ago) I called a techie friend and he had me hard reset the router (30 on 30 off 30 on) and it worked, I just had to set up my wireless network again. This time, I just unplugged the cable from the back of the router, waited about 15 seconds and plugged it back in, and it went back to normal.
In case someone may be wondering, unplugging the from the surge protector did NOT work; when I first noticed the lights blinking, I unplugged it from the surge protector, waited about 10 seconds, and plugged it back in; the lights continued their rapid erratic blinking. I then did what I described above - I plugged it back into the surge protector, and then unplugged it from the back of the router, waited, and plugged it back in and it was back to normal.
I thought perhaps it needed a firmware upgrade, but checking the website, while I was able to locate the site to upgrade the firmware for E1000, I could only see an upgrade for hardware Version 2, and my router is Version 1 - which, from what I understand, is NOT what I want, as that firmware is for a different hardware version and may cause problems on my Version 1 router.
While my router seems to be fine now. Is my router starting to kick the bucket already? I haven't had it that long - bought it last September. Do I need to upgrade any software or firmware for it? If so, where do I get the correct upgrade for my hardware version?
I need fixing my router. I updated the firmware and it said the upload has failed ever since then:

I've walked through the E1000 router reset and not matter what I do, all the lights except the power light blink rapidly and dimly. Could the router be fried even though it's on a surge protector???? It's less than 6 months old so hopefully still covered by warranty.

#1. Can the firmware of version 2.0 and 3.0 be reduced to flash version 1.0?
#2. When diagnosing the blinking power light issue by connecting directly to the router and the network card using "ping -t 192.168.1.xxx" which network address do I use, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 to 2xx?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS vers 7.2 Router on an iMac OS X Leopard. The other day I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade for the router when Firefox gave me this message: "Firefox can't find the server". I was no longer able to access the internet, and the router's green power light was left flashing. It flashed for over 24 hours. I tried unplugging the router and shutting down the computer, then plugging in the router and turning on the computer. (I don't have a modem.) The light was still flashing. I tried pressing the logo button for 5 seconds. Still flashing. Tried pressing the reset button in the back. Still flashing. 'I can't get on the internet or into the router. Linksys live chat gave me a link to "Upgrading the router’s firmware using the TFTP utility", which involves a download, but I can't download anything because I can't access the internet.

Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything. Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?
