View 2 RepliesWe have a new RV100W Router. I would like to use it for iPhones,PC's, and MAC's to connect via IPSec (QuickVPN) or PTTP. Everytime I go to setup VPN, it tells me I must change to a 10.x.x.1 network. How can I use VPN without doing so?
View 6 Replies View Relatedwe updated our NAC appliances from 4.8.1 to 4.9 and have noticed that web authentication is no longer woking on Apple IOS devices. We had setup a user page for the MAC_ALL OS and iphones etc. were able to authenticate using thier browser ok. Now (after the upgrade) after they authenticate they receive the below warning.
There doens't seem to be any other config changes we can make for the IOS device.
I have a small home network currently using a cisco 841 which is working great. Host a web site and Exchange plus all 10 computers access the net using Verizon FIOS all works. I can even VPN in to my newtwork remotely.I can only VPN using the Cisco client. I would like to use the Native Windows Client and Ipads and Iphones. I believe they use PPTP and the Cisco client is using IPSEC.Which Cisco router can I get that would support all the above?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have it set up as Capri (2.4 GHz) and CapriHD (5 GHz). CapriHD was intended only for HD video traffic. My wife's iphone 4S can only use 2.4 GHz, and it suddenly quit connecting after 1-2 months of use. My iphone 5 can use either band and it can only connect on 5 GHz. This problem MIGHT correspond to the recent firmware upgrade? I was traveling a lot around that time so can't be sure that is a culprit.Really thought the problem was the hardware, so I replaced it with a new EA6500 and getting the same result.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of us connect effortlessly to wifi via the EA3500. All of us, however, also have iPhones, and yet none of us can get on wifi with our iPhones. Apple insists the problem is on the Cisco side, not the Apple side, and I have to agree with them because all of the iPhones connect effortlessly to wifi everywhere else it is available. I tried contacting Cisco support, but they wound up telling me that if I paid them they might be able to assist, since the router is outside the warranty period. (I tried explaining to them that I didn't know about the extent of the problem until 10 days ago My wife simply uses her mac; none of my daughters lives here and only one of them had an iPhone until ten days ago when I purchased the other ones. But that was to no avail.) Why no one can get on wifi with iPhones when they can, simply and effortlessly, with the PC, the iPad, and their macs?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting to my wireless internet. We were getting a poor signal so we moved our router to our living room where we always are, but now we can't connect. We tried resetting everything, turned on and off several times. Went to the linksys wireless set up page, changed SSID and password. Still can't connect with the computer or our iphones. It shows our SSID is there but won't connect. My internet when plug directly to the computer works fine (I am using it now). My computer can connect to the router Linksys WRT54G, we just can't get it to connect to the wireless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've ran into an issue that I haven't seen before. A client of mine has a WLC that manages AP's at several different sites on the East Coast. They are all connected via a multilinked T1x2 connection. One site in particular contains 7 AP's, and users at this site are unable to connect. The remaining sites have no issue at all connecting. I noticed that when users began reporting this that all AP's had failed interference profiles. Also, when I instruct a user to attempt a connection, I don't ever see their mac address come across a debug session on the controller, which I find odd. Is it possible that a neighboring business is sending deauth packets and containing my AP's?
The client is running code version 4.2.61.0.
All, I am the wireless administrator for a rather large school district in Oregon, and we are seeing numerous issues with iPad's connecting and staying connected to our lightweight AP's in an HREAP configuration. Our iPad carts have about 20 iPads a piece and an AIR-LAP1142 supporting them. We have no issues with getting non-Apple products to connect and stay connected, but for some reason the iPads are creating a major issue. We currently run 8 4400 WISM blades via two 6509's, running code 7.0.116.0.Our AP's are running 7.0.116.0 as their primary software and their IOS is 12.4(23c)JA2.

All I-phones 4S OS6 are kind of loosing connection, if i am using google i will be able to use it once but never twices, the second time google will always time out, but the users are still able to receive and send their emails so the connection is still up.
On the manager i can see every Iphone, and everything seems to be ok, the "secutrity" is a simple 128bits wep key and i have a macadress filter activated and finally the SSID is not broadcasted.
The iphones are working smoothly with any modern wifi.So my questions are, is it a firmware problem? a configuration problem? or it is time to upgrade the hardware?
Ever since I started using iPads at the house I have had to reboot the router about once a week because the download speeds drops by approximately 90%. As soon as the reboot completes all is right with the world for about another week. During the course of the week, but not all at once, we will have 4 iPads, 3 iPhones, 2 laptops and one desktop(wired), a Verizon signal booster and house guests. I have updated the firmware.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAironet 1142, two units, using WPA Radius to IAS on Windows 2003. I have a problem with Macs beginning to surface. One laptop, OSX 10.6, ran fine for a couple of weeks. A problem started occurring, while using the network, communication will stop. The Mac still shows connected on the laptop, and it shows associated in the interface on the Airnonet. However, there is no data transfer. I open a terminal and ping, there is no response. After sitting for awhile trying to ping, it will start again and communicate. After letting the laptop sit for awhile, the same things happens. The connection can be disconnected and reconnected on the laptop to restore connectivity. I did a round of things on the Mac to eliminate problems in configuration there. The same thing happens with both Aironets. Today, the when the problem occured, a user with an iPhone experienced the same thing. This was a first for that iPhone. Another Mac laptop, a newer model, did not experience the problem.
As I am writing this, a user with an iPad now just emailed that he is having trouble connecting. We just recently upgraded this customer to Aironets and disconnected a conglomerate of other products. The last one to be disconnected was a low cost Trendnet, that this iPad user was previously connecting to with no problem. The other device he would have been using in a different area was a Mac Airport WAP.
On the Aironets, I have CCX turned off, have set speed settings to default.
Have issue with iPhones and other smart phones being considered as excluded clients for the reason of Identity Theft? I am looking at one of my controllers and there are almost 680 excluded clients and most of them are smart phones and they are all being excluded for the same reason. It seems to be mostly iPhones but not all of the iPhones are experiencing the same behavior.
There is a mix of AP types (AP1010s, 1131s and 3502s) and also a mix of controller types (44XX and 3508). I have not been able to find any information to explain this behavior on the phone side and/or the wireless side.
I've had the Airport Extreme router on our Macs at home for years. Finally upgraded and got the E3200.
With the airports, my wife could print wirelessly to our HP LaserJet, which is still showing as an available printer on the wireless network. However, since removing the Apple router and using the E3200 it won't print. When you choose to print wirelessly from the application, it says "looking for printer" and eventually fails and says printer is offline. (which it isn't).
The printer is connected via USB to an external USB hub connected to a Mac. The printer is not (and has never been) connected directly to a router - not the Apple one, or the new E3200.
On the Mac sharing settings, Printer sharing is turned on, so anyone on our network should be able to print wirelessly.
Does the Linksys require some special permission or setup w/ the CiscoConnect software in order to allow the wireless printing?
I have Linksys WRT320N acting as AP with Mac filtering, yesterday I noticed that even not added Mac addresses can access the network!!The settings in Mac Filter page as following:EnablePrevent PCs listed below from accessing the wireless network.MAC 01: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XXMAC 02: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX...when I changed it to "Permit PCs listed below to access the wireless network" no one is able to connect to the network!!!I think the AP is not accepting the MACs I added!I restart the router (Turning on and off) with no luck.Firmware Version: v1.0.03.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden. All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.

I want to configure them with 2 SSID: 1 encrypted, 1 public. Each should go to its own vlan, and thus should have a trunk towards the switch.
My wireless experience approaches zero however, and I cannot get the APs to even send out an unencrypted public SSID.

We're in the process of upgrading our Wireless AP's from autonomus to LWAP. We're doing the upgrades remotely (we have 100's of sites to do, and it's not possible to be there to console on to each one), using a local computer to upgrade them to LWAP's with the Cisco Upgrade Tool.Having some inconsistent bugs pop up though from time to time. The most common one is that it basically buggers up the IP address after applying the recovery firmware image. It's supposed to keep the IP it had according to the IPFile.txt (for example 172.25.25.4), but it does something very weird... it keeps the last two octets (so 25.4 from the e.g) but replaces the first two octets with a 192.168 address. So the final address in this example after the UpgradeTool has done its work, is 192.168.25.4 - which is compeltely wrong.
This causes it to be unable to talk to the WLC (obviously, with bogus IP information it will struggle), and gives us big problems in that it wont ever come up unless someone can console to the AP and fix it. We can usually resolve the issue by munging about on the switch - switching the port it's connected to between access and trunk and doing some shut/noshut cycles seems to do the trick mostly.
I recently had to deploy about 4 cisco 1131 AP's to one of our branch location. When configuring them on the controller, i needed to put them in HREAP mode. As soon as i do that and the AP needs to reboot, it will continue to reboot in a loop and indicate the following:

I have WLC 4402 with software IOS 5.2.157.0 and i am planing to upgrade the sofware to the latest one (7.0.235.0)
now my question are :
1 - is that software version will support APs [AIR LAP 1131 AG-E-K] ?
2- on down load page there 2 files :
a) Cisco Unified Wireless Network Controller Boot Software 7.0 for Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controllers.
b) Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 for Cisco 4400 Series Wireless LAN Controllers. which file i need to upload on my WLC 4402
I have an AP(1131) that keeps disassociating from the controller. It stays alive for about 10 mins then it doens't work anymore. I tired changing the AP but that didn't make a difference. I also tried changing the port on your 500 POE switch. My last effort to fix it was to put the AP on a 3550 switch with a power injector. Still no luck.
I don't understand why its doing this. I am able to connected to it and surf the internet for about 10 mins. After that It leaves the controller and just cycles through different colors.
I have some questions about this AP and it's IOS. I have some AP's 1131 and they have IOS 12.34(3g) JA I'm working with a 4402 WLC I'm going to change this WLC for one 5508 but this WLC has a different version software it has 7.2.103. My questions is I need to do any upgrade to my AP's IOS for join to the new WLC ?
I found a compatibility Matrix, in this document I guess i nedd to do some upgrade: URLs
The WGB can be any autonomous access point that supports the workgroup bridge mode and is running Cisco IOS Release 12.4(3g)JA or later releases (on 32-MB access points) or Cisco IOS Release 12.3(8)JEB or later releases (on 16-MB access points). These access points include the AP1120, AP1121, AP1130, AP1231, AP1240, and AP1310. Cisco IOS releases prior to 12.4(3g)JA and 12.3(8)JEB are not supported.
I have setup a 1131 with multiple ssid's, they show up, but neither one will connect. i need 2 ssid's, one open and one protected. this is the config i have so far:

Trying to get an lightweight AP to register with a controller, never seen this one before where the Discovery request is going out to the controller, the discovery response is coming back, but then nothing. At this point the AP should then send a JOIN request, but it just doesnt.
I am using L3 LWAPP, and have the AP statically configured. its a 1131, connecting to a 5.1.151.0 in a WISM. I have run a wireshark and can see the discovery going out, its response coming back, but then nothing (the debugs below also back this up). I have also jumped on the controller and can see the discovery responces are going out but it says no JOIN's are coming in. I'm aware this is an old version of controller but still..
I've tried many different IOS on the AP, including the one it came with in the box, other previously successful IOS and the IOS that 5.1.151.0 dishes out to its registered AP's, multiple AP hardware resets, controller reboots, tried different controllers. etc... What would cause this? Possibly something in the response? See info below:

A customer of ours has the following access points and wireless lan controllers on site. They want to use the Apple Bonjour service with Apple TV's and iPads. I have enabled multicast feature of the 5508 globally and one the SSID.The Apple TV has an ethernet connection and the iPads connect over the wifi. The Apple tv is on the same subnet as the iPad's - the Bonjour features do work for approx 5/10 minutes then it stops working for some reason. The Access Points plug into a Cisco 2960 Layer 2 switch, the 5508 controllers plug are in LAG mode and plug into a Nortel Layer 3 stack which I have enabled IGMP snooping.I've read that the Apple Bonjour service isnt designed to work on a multi subnet network - but both the Apple TV and iPad are connected on the same subnet. Sounds like some kind of timeout but not too sure.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI moved into the new house with two laptops with Windows Vista installed. Since then I have been experiencing severe problems with the wireless connection. The operator is TalkTalk.
As soon as we realised that the problem seemed to exist exclusively on our Vistas (since the two Macs, of another couple of tenants who had been living here for long, were working correctly as usual) we called the company. They suggested many things I have already read on this forum such as deleting the other networks, re-adding mine manually etc. We then realised that things were more complicated than initially thought and started analysing the problem more in depth. We went through their website and changed different settings, including those listed in the properties of "Manage wireless connection" or sth like that (we changed some IP configurations, the protocol ivp4/6, etc.). The outcome was that my Vistas started working while the Macs stopped.
I called them again many other times but no conclusive solution was ever found. I eventually talked to another operator who drew the conclusion according to which the WEP configuration of our Vistas is not compatible with that of the MAC. In other words either the Vistas would work or the Macs. No way they could both work at the same time!!!!
How to shut off wireless admin access on a 1131 AP? I only want to be able to administer the device via the wired LAN. I need to shut of http, ssh, and telnet.
I haven't been able to find anything in the GUI.
How to know the CLI commands?
I have a static IP given to me by the service provider, and I need to make the Access point as a DHCP server to provide me IPs inside my LAN.I have created a DHCP pool in the AP. But do I have to NAT the public IP onto the private DHCP range ? This setup is possible.
View 12 Replies View Relatedi have a air-lap01131-ag-e-k9 that was originally in lightweight mode and configured with a controller, but i am in the process of wanting to convert to autonomous mode, i am having issues with connectivity to the AP from my laptop.
i have followed numerous guides on this forum, i have successfully
downloaded correct firmware
renamed the firmware to .default
placed this in root of tftp server folder
connected laptop via console to view output
connected laptop via Ethernet to Ethernet port of AP
changed static ip on laptop to 10.0.0.2 set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 10.0.0.1
held reset button on AP when applying power and waiting for radio light to flash red
AP gets a IP address then of 10.0.0.1
But even though both laptop and AP are in the same subnet, i am unable to ping the AP from my laptop and it doesn't start the tftp process
I have disabled firewall etc, and tried with both crossover and straight through cable, it seems there is something missing at this last stage, i even tried on a second laptop but that would not ping either, am i missing something.
I want to install lightweight IOS into Aironet 1131AG by using Upgrade Tool. However, some error messages appear saying:
1. ACL / Firewall might be blocking the TFTP.
2. Disable the ACL/Firewall setting for TFTP.
I don't set up any ACL because I am trying to install to the Aironet which was just initialized by using mode button. Configuration is just like followings.
Is there any possibility that the configuration block the TFTP communication ? now, ping is reachable and directly, I am connecting AP and PC with upgrade tool . and windows firewall is disable on the PC. But the upgrade tool is error. Why the TFTP communication is failed.
