Cisco :: Wireless Lan Controller 4404 Exclusion Setting?

Nov 12, 2012

I have a Cisco 4404 wireless lan controller managing about 85 AP's.

The wireless side is setup for a private wlan and a public wlan.  On the public side, users are directed to a captive-portal agreement page before they can get on the internet.  My question is if there is a way for a single client, specified by either mac address or static IP , can be connected to this wlan without being prompted for the agreement page?  I would like to setup a wireless printer for guests connected to this public side.

Cisco Wireless :: 4404 Guest Anchor Controller With 5508 Foreign Controller?

Aug 12, 2012

I know that the 3600 series APs are not supported on the 4404 WLC.  However, would the following scenario be supported? I would like to use the 4404 (software rel. 7.0) as a guest anchor with a 5508 (software release 7.2) as the foreign controller supporting series 3600 APs.  I ask because the APs do not need to join the guest anchor.

My WLC version is 7.0.116.0.

I can see he AP is getting an IP address from the controller(internal DHCP). But from some reason they can`t connect to the WLC. I have tried many things such as:

1)reset to default settings

2) move the AP to Autonumos mode and back to LWAPP mode --  didnt work.

1 of my AP 1121AG is working properly.

Cisco Wireless :: 4404 - Changing WLAN ID On Controller

Jun 17, 2012

Our company has 8 4404-100 Cisco wireless controllers and each WLC has 8 W LANs configured. They are all working fine. However, the WLAN ID sequence is not consistent. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the WLAN ID on these WLCs without (or slightly) impacting the users. I don't want to re-configure all the WLAN profiles.

Cisco Wireless :: Adding 1200 And 1130 Access Points To 4404 Controller

Mar 17, 2010

We recently acquired a 4404 Cisco controller for our network and have been adding our 1200 and 1130 Access points to the controller. This was accomplished by upgrading the APs to LWAPP and then they would automatically be discovered by the controller and then join. Lately, new 1131 APs that have undergone the same process, are not joining the controller. They are discovered but then the close the connection. We are running a flat network so all devices are in the same subnet.Software Version of the controller 6.0.188.0. [code]

Cisco :: Setting Up Wireless LAN Controller 2100?

Feb 7, 2011

I am having trouble on setting up a WLC2100 ver 7. we need to implement a private and public network. private network authenticate to IAS - RADIUS (windows server 2003 server) while the public network is open but when a client connect to AP it will redirect to a 3rd party web athentication - HotSpot Server. the challenge is we want to broadcast a single SSID.

senario:

1. when a user/guest connect to the AP a radius server will authenticate thru IAS - Radius.

2. when a user is authenticate via radius a dhcp server will give an ip address of the private network.

3. if the user is not authenticate a dhcp server will give the public ip address and netowrk traffic must go to a different VLAN.

my question is, is it possible to broadcast a single SSID for the two network? is there a document which is related to our scenario?

The question I have is all the AP's are showing as being on Channel 6, it was thought that the controller would learn the enviroment and move these to none overlapping channels, but has not. Is this right should they all be on the same channel and not 1, 6, 11 accordingly? it is also worth mentioning that the controller can see 61 rogue AP's, yes that is 61 other wireless networks!

Cisco Wireless :: Setting Up Aironet 2600 APs With 2504 Controller

Mar 19, 2013

I've recently purchased a 2504 Wireless controller, and I have 10 2600 APs to deploy.  I think I've set up the wireless controller OK - there doesn't seem to be much that needs to be done!  But I just can't seem to register an AP onto the system.

Just to briefly outline what I have done, I have connected to the Wireless Controller via terminal emulator and run through the setup, then I have connected OK to the web interface, and I am able to view and amend the controller's configuration.  So I have setup a WLAN and thats about it.

Next up I have powered on one of my 2600 APs, and I am able to view it working via terminal emulator again.  But I am seeing it continually running the same routine to connect to a controller, and all the time it just fails.  Below is what I am seeing.

One thing that I am unsure about is that I am unable to connect to the AP config pages via web browser, using the IP 192.168.0.97 (although it does ping okay).  Is that odd?

And the main question - why doesn't the AP connect to the wireless controller?  Do the APs need to be authroized on the controller first?  If I check the controller's web interface, under Monitor - Statistics - AP Join, I can see the AP listed with Status "Not Joined" but I don't know what I need to do to make it join!

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 8.3 NAT With PAT Static NAT And VPN Exclusion

Sep 19, 2011

We have a Cisco ASA 8.3 and we're trying to configure NAT with multiple types of NAT.

We have a static NAT to an inside host from 1.1.1.2.
Internet Interface is on 1.1.1.3.
Users get NAT (PAT) on 1.1.1.4
VPN Subnet "No NAT" exclusion is from our LAN to various other locations.

Here are the relevent extracts from our configuration:

object network Server
host 172.19.0.80
nat (inside,outside) static 1.1.1.2
object network Inside_LAN
[Code]...

When the VPN exlusion ACL is applied to the configuration, PAT users have no connectivity to the Internet via TCP though UDP and ICMP traffic still passes. The VPN is operational. With the VPN NAT configuration removed, as expected the VPN fails, but users have connectivity to the Internet.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 - Setup Single Port Exclusion For Static NAT?

Sep 20, 2012

I have been using static NAT to map between a single server behind an ASA 5505 and a single public IP address. In other words, I've been doing this:

object network NAT_ME
nat (inside,outside) static interface

Now I would like to start using the clientless VPN feature of the ASA, so I of course don't want that particular port forwarded to the server. Is there a way to define such an exclusion? I've tried several things, including setting up a separate NAT rule to direct that port back to the ASA's interface, without luck.

If that is not possible, what configuration would I need to move to in order to get the behavior that I want? It is important that all (non-VPN) traffic is passed exactly as it arrives at the firewall (whether it is coming from internal or external), with the exception of changing the IP address (i.e., I need static port mappings for some of my services).

If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2125 Wireless Controller Without Anchor Controller Just Using Existing Hardware

Dec 6, 2012

I am looking to configure a wired and wireless guest network. I have industrial barcode scanners that connect to one SSID and then there is the business network on the office SSID (no vlan seperation for these devices just different SSIDs). There is not really a need to seperate the business network from the scanners in any case. However, there are needs for a guest network and this needs to be seperated. At the bare minumum I would like to have the wireless guest network. Here is what I have: 2125 Wireless LAN controller managing 18 LAPs (1 indoor and 17 outdoors)Cisco Cat 2950 switches (2 x 24 port and soon to be replaced with 2 x 48 port 2960's with 802.1x capability) Sonicwall TZ210 firewallOne existing wired and trunked vlan for PLC infrastructure. One ESXi hosting Windows server guests (soon to be 2 with vMotion) The reason for the wired guest access network is tp prevent anyone from plugging into the wall jack in the office with thier home laptops or anyone else from being on the same subnet as our domain machines. Granted they would be unathenticaed but there would be no layer 2 seperation and that is what I think would be best.

How would I go about doing this on the wireless controller without an anchor controller just using my existing hardware? I would like to have the Guest SSID only availible in the front office. Is it possible to offer a guest network while still servicing the business network SSID on the same access point? Then might I be able to have the guest network be treated as it should at the controller? However this might present another issue altogether as the guest traffic will be over the same wire as the business SSID until it hits the controller for management.

Also it will not let me console in, I can console in on my other Cisco 4404 WLC's with out and issues, so I know my cables and configure are correct. The only change a I made today was the time zone. I noticed the time was off by a hour and noticed that the time zone wasn't set so I set it correctly. Shortly after that I saw the WLC go belly o up in my WCS. I tried rebooting the WLC several times without luck. Since I can not gain access via the console I can not really trouble shoot.

I would like to make the change to the Multicast setup so that It is multcasted and not unicasted. So I went into the controller and selected  MULTICAST for AP multicast mode and entered in a multicast ip of 239.255.1.60 ( default choosen in the cisco howto's)I then test the reason for enabling the multicast and it doesnt work. The problem is that the Wireless HP printers setup to use Apples IPRINT are not able to be found. However, when I select the Multicast setting for the APs to be UNICAST the Ipads can find the Printers and print to them. What am I doing wrong with this Multicast setting? Do i need to add a Multicast address to the router?

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 4404 AP Not Routing Via Second Interface

Aug 20, 2012

WLC4404 - United States
Software Version 5.2.193.0

where the new WLAN dosn't seem to be routing... but it's not related to name length (ours only 6 charecters). It's almost seems like the new WLC interface (interface2) isn't configured for the same subnet that it's plugged into, but it is.We actually have 2 WLANS. Alot of the original config was done before my time, between about 3 different people. The original WLAN config works fine, but part of the problem is the WLC4404 was configured our server VLAN, thus when a client gets an IP, they are placed on our main server VLAN. Our WLC4404 is connected to our 6509 in our Datacenter, and we have dozens of PTP T1's to our remote offices, which all have WAPs.On the WLC4404, I've configured a new interface on port 2, vlan404, and I have the new WLAN using that interface. The WLAN security is using WPA2, and authenticates via our ActiveDirector services, as well as handing out DHCP from our Windows DHCP server.

The client wireless PC is able to connect to the WAP, but unable to connect to anything else. It can only ping the WLC4404 interface2 address, and nothing else. It does receieve DHCP info (via WLC via Windows DHCP server), but cannot see DHCP server. From the WLC4404: I can telnet into the management IP address, and can ping PC's on the new WLAN, and anyplace else, except the vlan gateway ip address on the 6509.From the 6509: when telnetted in, I can ping everything except interface2 of WLC on vlan404 and the wireless PC using the new WLAN. I am able to ping the ip address of int for vlan404. The 6509 somewhat see's the WLC int2 & wireless PC. Show ARP | inc 404 from the 6509 shows the IP's of the VLAN int, WLC int2, and wireless PC.  Show mac-add-tab | inc 404 shows the WLC and wireless PC on same 6509 port. From my work PC (via LAN) at a remote location: I can ping everything except Int2 on the WLC, and the wireless PC.
