Cisco Wireless :: 4404 Guest Anchor Controller With 5508 Foreign Controller?
Aug 12, 2012I know that the 3600 series APs are not supported on the 4404 WLC. However, would the following scenario be supported? I would like to use the 4404 (software rel. 7.0) as a guest anchor with a 5508 (software release 7.2) as the foreign controller supporting series 3600 APs. I ask because the APs do not need to join the guest anchor.

Oct 20, 2011I've just got a new AP 1250 series, and I was trying to configure the Radio for the 2.4Ghz spectrum using the interface dot11radio 0 and I've just noticed that this controller is not present so I cannot configure it so I wonder is it could be a HW problems as it looks to me or there is another way to enable this.
I never have an issue like this before so I want to first check with you before going back to our vendor.
Here is some of the details I get from the AP itself:

Sep 9, 2012I have Cisco 4404 WLC with Image 7.0.235.0 We have one SSID Sup_Admin with following config. Which is getting the IP address from the interface pool “corp”.
WPA+WPA2 with AES and TKIP
Auth key Mgmt is 802.1X
We are using Cisco ACS as radius server On the same WLC I have created another SSID Corp_Admin . Which also should get the IP address from the interface pool “corp”. Both SSID has the same settings ,but the second SSID is not working.

Dec 19, 2009We are facing an issue with a customer where a Cisco 4400 Series controller is blocking the 802.11a/n Radio Interface of a 1250 AP. The radio shows as down on the controller GUI. The error message on the GUI is that the 'Regulatory Domain' is not supported. This can be seen from the attached screenshot. Also relevant parts of the WLC configs are attached. WLC: Cisco 4402 WirelessWLC Country: SADevice: Cisco Lightweight Access Point 1250 (LAP) is controlled through the 4402 Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC)The operating system version of the LAP: c1250-k9w8-mx.124-18a.JA version of the WLC: Software Version 5.2.178.0 The problem is that the controller shows that the 802.11a/n Radio Interface in Radio Slot # 1 is always down , the customer tried to manually 'no shut' the AP interface from the console and it worked , but obviously this solution would not work as the configuration cannot be saved (LW AP).

Jan 2, 2012we have a WLC 4404, Software Version 4.2.61.0 and the following Problem. The WLC worked for many years with the SSID "SKHGR". In addition to the existing SSID I have a second SSID "SKHGR-M" is created. The configuration of the two SSID's is identical.
The problem is: when I activate the second SSID, the AP losing connection with the WLC. In the log appears"AP disassociated. ... Base Radio" and "
"not advertising ssid due to radio policy". The AP's connect with the WLC, lose after few seconds the contact.

Apr 18, 2012I bought my WAG320N 1 year ago, in this time i tried to connect in wireless mode many times, but I can' see the SSID that I have created from my laptop and from my palm. At the beginning, when the router was new i saw 2 or 3 times the SSID for 2 minutes, and after this time the SSID disappear. Is my WAG320N damaged?

The wireless side is setup for a private wlan and a public wlan. On the public side, users are directed to a captive-portal agreement page before they can get on the internet. My question is if there is a way for a single client, specified by either mac address or static IP , can be connected to this wlan without being prompted for the agreement page? I would like to setup a wireless printer for guests connected to this public side.

Cisco Wireless :: Can't Join 1121-AG To Controller 4404 WLC
Jan 4, 2012Iam having trouble to conect my 1121-AG AP`s to my 4404 WLC.
My WLC version is 7.0.116.0.
I can see he AP is getting an IP address from the controller(internal DHCP). But from some reason they can`t connect to the WLC. I have tried many things such as:
1)reset to default settings
2) move the AP to Autonumos mode and back to LWAPP mode -- didnt work.
1 of my AP 1121AG is working properly.

Jun 17, 2012Our company has 8 4404-100 Cisco wireless controllers and each WLC has 8 W LANs configured. They are all working fine. However, the WLAN ID sequence is not consistent. I'm wondering if it's possible to change the WLAN ID on these WLCs without (or slightly) impacting the users. I don't want to re-configure all the WLAN profiles.

Jan 2, 2010we are in the midst of designing a wireless Mesh AP solution for our customer.
Customer Requirement:-
1. Customer wants to deploy REmote MEsh APs (1500 Series) with a centralized 4404 Controller at HQ site.
2. The Remote and HQ site is linked thru a leased line with 2 routers in between
Based on cisco's document REAP and HREAP is not supported in LWAPP Mesh APs. So if the Mesh APs were to be deployed at Remote sites (3 total). How this be achieved?

Aug 16, 2011Currently I am working on a setup for a client that has sites connected through a highspeed ISP VLAN connection, (ATT Opt-E-Man). Due to MAC address translation restrictions from the network provider the client VLANs are not allowed to exist on their point-to-point (sort of) connection. Notice the ISP VLAN changes but it is the same physical connection at Site A. Internet is only available through a seperate physical connection at Site A. A Cisco 4404 is sitting at Site A sending out a single SSID to all the different Sites (yes more than just what I showed).
Problem, all the wireless clients are getting IP's based on VLAN 10 from the site where the 4404 controller sits. I would like the AP located at remote sites (B and C for example) to use the same SSID but have the clients still get IP's based on the VLAN for that location. This way when they dock and undock the gateway does not crash out.

Apr 27, 2011We currently have a 4404 controller that is approaching 100 AP’s (their max). The boss would like to add redundancy into the project. Which leaves me with a lot of questions and I am fairly new to cisco WLAN controllers.While a second 4404 would cover for redundancy would that be true if the AP’s pass the 100 mark?If I get a bigger controller that can support more than 100 (5508?)can the existing 4404 still work in the plan as a backup?Or do I just need to purchase two bigger units and auction off the 4404?

I have tried creating another interface for the remote site with a different dhcp scope(10.102.0.0) but the controller wont allow me create another wlan with same ssid that existed before to apply the new interface created for.

Feb 28, 2013i have two 5508 ver 7.3.0, one is the primary and one is the guest controller. mobility is up and running. i have an exising guest ssid working with wpa2-psk and web authentication and its working fine but i require a second guest ssid that only uses a wpa2-psk for ipod/ipads as i cant use passive client on primary controller. i presently have the one vlan range and dhcp setup on the guest controller to give addressing to either ssid. i know you can have multiple ssid setup on the guest controller but in other sites i have only had one guest connection comming from the primary controller, just a primary controller on each sites was only creating one link to the same guest controler.

Jul 30, 2012We have been deploying 3502 APs remotely to locations with full T1s that backhaul to where I sit at HQ. Both the foreign and anchor controller are here at my location.
I am seeking to rate limit per user the bandwidth each client will get on the guest internet ssid. As you know this traffic is encapsulated in capwap between the AP and the controller so I cant use a standard ACL on the switch or router.
We are trying to keep the guest internet access usage in check on the T1 at any given site so the other ssid's & local lan traffic is not overly competing for the bandwidth.
I found the place to edit the default profiles in the controller but the documentation really isnt clear on best practices.
So I put it to you my fellow wireless engineers to suggest how you are implementing bandwidth management on your wireless guest internet.
Oh and here is my hardware & software levels.

Mar 20, 2012I have a customer using 1250 AP with monopole antenna, he face frequent disconnection for voice clients during roaming. Phone is forced for reregistration to call manager during the hand off. Same customer has dipole antenna in a different floor with 1250 AP and there is no issue observed for voice clients.
Is this an issue with monopole antenna ? Which is the best antenna to recommend for Cisco APs or wht is the occasion I need to use a dipole or monopole antenna ? How to understand the difference between them.
Cisco Wireless :: Lost Web Access On Aironet 1250
Dec 29, 2012I can no longer open a http or https connection to the AP. I do have ssh access and I can log in with full privileges.
I was using the Web interface a few days ago and it did something strange during an update. The display of the web page became corrupted and no longer responded to my input.
I restarted it from an ssh session and I have also power cycled it via the power injector. Neither method has worked.
What should I do next or what additional info can I provide from an ssh shell?
Physical access is very difficult. It requires a 30' ladder after 10 p.m. So, I would like to avoid that if possible.
