Cisco Wireless :: SF100D-16P - Poe Switch For WAP321
Jul 19, 2012
Any Cisco small business switch that would be capable of powering five WAP321's? I don't know the power profile on these AP but have noticed that the Poe injectors pump out 16.8 MAX watts. I can't find anywhere what the power profile is on WAP321 AP but ~17 WATTS seems to me to be quite high.
In fact, I was interested in the SF100D-16P which has a power budget of 64W over 8 ports... the price range is in my budget.
Does the SF100D-16P can power 5-6 WAP321's sufficiently?
We are using Cisco 100 Series Unmanaged Switche, model SF100D-16 in our network drawer for land and OFF-shore use. As per the data sheet on the below link, the dimensions of this product should be 5.12 x 1.52 x 5.12 inches (130 x 38.5 x 130 mm).But our current batch of 40 pieces are of a different dimension. i.e 6.29 x 3.54 x 1.69 inches (160 x 90 x 43 mm) url..We have designed an 1U drawer to install this switch based on the dimesions in the datasheet. But now it is not going inside the drawer because of this 5 mm extra height. Not sure how this descripancy occured between data sheet and physical part. Now I am looking for a 16 port with same configuration of model SF100D-16, with 40mm or less height.
Everything worked fine until I activated clustering on both devices yesterday. Since then, I can't connect via wifi anymore. I still have access to the management via ethernet. It seems like the wifi clients are not able to reach the Portal, Radius or DHCP Server anymore.
I have a WAP321. The unit hangs about on every day. Web interface and WLAN let not respond anymore. By a reset the unit will be back. I have put all unnecessary stale. Tracing the turned on, I can say nothing flashy.
My current setup is an AP1262n located ~400 feet from my WAP321. I would like to take the wireless signal coming from the AP1262n and rebroadcast it using a WAP321. configuration setting on these two devices.
What I want is to have 1 SSID for all 6 WAP so all employee from 2 floor building can access.
WAP # 1 connect to LAN with cabe and setup as Master with WDS Bridge enabled. WDS interface is also enable with MAC address input from WAP #2; WAP #3 & WAP#4.WAP #2 connect to WAP #1 via wireless with WDS Bridge enabled. WDS
How to configure multiple WAP321 Wifi at once? Because I need to configure around 100 APs and i want to know if there is any software from Cisco to do it, like a WLC or something else.
It's my intention optimize our business WiFi network.Actually we don't have a "Guest" access.Probably WAP321 should be the best solution for us.We will need 3 WAP321 to cover offices area.I have different questions/doubts about Captive Portal functionality.using 3 different WAP321 everyone has the "captive portal" feature, or you can configure only one of the three the feature of "captive portal"?if is possible to configure only one of three the feature of "captive portal", the others WAP321 trusting the authentication?what is the ip address released from the "Captive Portal"?all Guest user have the same username and password?
I have configured my WAP321 with captive portal enabled but how to a get to the captive portal. If i browse to its web address and get back into the administration GUI and if i connect to the wireless connection configured on this AP it does the normal wireless login.
I was looking for some clarification on the capabilities of these devices to allow roaming of clients between AP's. Take a basic scenario of 3 AP's and a single SSID. I know the AP541N has clustering which uses the Fast Client Roaming Protocol, which basically does a quick re-connect to the new AP. Not quite as seamless as using aironet and a controller, but still pretty good.
Question 1 How does the WAP321 handle roaming? Obviously without the clustering feature you would have to configure each AP independently. But after setting them up, would it support roaming in a similiar way to the AP541N??
Question 2 Would running three standalone Aironet 1141's operate any differently in terms of roaming?
In summary I like the roaming capability of the AP541N but hate the large clunky form factor. I need something that can be mounted in an office environment (ceilings) that will handle easy client roaming. A short disconnect isn't a concern as long as it reconnects on it's own. Wireless controllers are a little out of the price range for this setup.
I have a RVS4000 witch I use as router, and DHCP server. I have a WAP321 witch I have configured SSID with one VLAN. Both devices have fixed IP address. I can connect computer to the wifi access point. But the computer cannot get an IP address from the DHCP server of the RVS4000. If I set the IP configuration manually, it can get an access to the network and Internet.
With another wifi access point it works, the computer get an IP address for the DHCP.
What should I have to do to make my DHCP server works with my wifi access point ?
Our iOS6 devices cannot connect to our Cisco Wi-Fi access points using our guest network settings, which involves a captive portal where they must enter their email address. When they select the guest network, they get the screen shown at the bottom of the screen. Prior to iOS6, they'd get the web page where they enter their email address and accept our terms of use. This is happening both on upgraded devices and iPhone 5 devices. We haven't changed anything with the access points.
I currently had 6 WAP321 setup in our work environment on 2 floor building as Single Point Setup cluster. When I do a 470MB ISO files transfer between the server and the laptop, the speed is very slow, rate at 130KBs and sometime it go up to 30Mbps.Is there anyway to tweek teh WAP to get FULL speed of wireless all the time?
I have a WAP321 here, which is running at firmware version 1.0.3.4. The E-Mail Alert setup works for me, meaing I receive notification E-Mails from the Access Point. I am wondering however, why those E-Mails are blank, meaning, I only receive header information (to, from, date, subject) but no body content. I was expecting to receive the error message as content of the E-Mail Alert.
I'm trying to configure a WAP321 so that I have the same SSID and WPA2 password on both the RV220W and the WAP321 so that i can reach all areas of my clients location.
We put in place 4 devices. Everything is working five (apple IOS6+ not obv...). So when somebody is connecting he have to read our agreement, enter is full name and check the box. (is not personnal session...)How can i have log his name and access hours???? Because a saw is connected when is connected in live on : Captive Portal>Authenticated Clients .But i want to keep a log with this informations + the date/hour if possible.
Another problem with WAP321 access point. I set up the captive portal for guest access. Connexion is going well, I got IP adress, but then, I open my webrowser to authentificate on the captive portal, and I get a nice "404 not found / file not found" page. If I put the IP adress of the access point in my webrowser, I can get the captive portal homepage. Why the redirection is not working automatically
i am trying to expand the wifi range of my WRVS4400n. Since the WAP4400 is'nt available i got me a wap321, since it was mentioned as recommende replacement. However i am having trouble in getting the bridge to work.First i tried to use WDS but this only killed my WRVS4400n and i am now trying the Workghroup Bridge mode on the WAP321.
On WRVS4400n i have enabled WDS and have tried both auto setting and Manual without any difference I am stuck with this status on the WAP321:
Network Interface Status and Statistics VLAN ID Name (SSID) WLAN0UPSTRM Disconnected 1 myssid WLAN0DWSTRM Up 1 myssid
It is the Infrastructure Client Interface setting that fails, i've tried both None and WPA pesronal Security setting with same result: Disconnected
Our brand new WAP321 is configured manually because the setup wizard would not complete, just hangs at the end.
Anyway, when a client connects to the AP, it cannot get an IP address. It is able to connect to the AP but does not pickup an IP from our internal DHCP server. I've been up and down tthe config screens and even tried hard resetting the AP and starting from scratch to no avail. This happens with 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz modes.
I've tried laptops and smartphones with the same result.
I want to setup my wap321 to not go to the Captive potal login page ,I want everyone to be authenticated automatically. I just want them to be redirected to my home page the first time they try and visit any page.i have the CP setup but I dont see any way to not request a user page and just redirect.I am using the latest firmware.
My company has an RV180W Router, a SGE-2000 Managed Switch, and a WAP321 Wireless Access Point. I have about 12 users on a Windows 2003 Server Standard, completely updated. My Win box is my DHCP Server. Now I am running two VLANS, Vlan 1 (default) the main vlan is where the Win box is on. Vlan 5 (guest Vlan) uses the RV180W as the DHCP server.
-Vlan1 is 192.168.1.1-254 - Issued by Win box -Vlan5 is 192.168.2.100-254 - Issued by RV180W
I have a WAP321 I am trying to set up. It's connected to gi1/23 and the switch system mode is set to router. The rest of the network works just fine.I have an SG500-28p and the port. [code] On the WAP321 wizard, configured IP address on my management vlan and also configured the default SSID on that vlan. That works. (I plan to remove that one) Then I add the two SSIDs for vlan 20 and 22 (private and public access) and I can't associate to either of the two additional SSIDs. I haven't configured any other settings beyond the wizard and adding the other two SSIDs. I do want cisco mobile ios (jabber) to work on the private network and also do have a couple spa525g2s that need to connect wireless.
I'd like to setup a Captive Portal on our WAP321. We will probably have 50 users (although there will probably be less than 10 simultaneous users). What is the maximum number of Captive Portal users (when using the "local" verification option) that I can create on a WAP321?
I just installed a WAP321. I literally configured a test SSID, implemented WPA Personal security, and could not get an iPad or Blackberry to associate with the network. The error message that appears in the Blackberry is "EAP Authentication Failed". But isn't EAP applicable only to the WPA Enterprise mode? The access point works fine if I have the test SSID without any security, but as soon as I turn on WPA Personal security, nothing can connect. Is there something really obvious I'm missing here?(When I select WPA Personal security, I have tried with just the "WPA2" version and "AES" cipher selected, as well as with check boxes ticked on both WPA/WPA2, and on both TKIP/AES. Neither works.)
Have a WAP321 connected to a Cisco SG200-08P then connected to a Cisco 2901. The main wireless on vLAN 1 works fine. However, the Guest on vLAN 4 (Choose vLAN 4 as per the included docs so guests will be unable to see the production network) will not give an IP to any wireless device. Looking for documentation on getting the Guest radio working. The included documention for these 3 devices do not address how to get the Guest radio to work.Does vLAN 4 need setup on the 2901? Have just 1 internal port on the 2901.
