Cisco Wireless :: WLC5508 - Requires To Setup A Dynamic Interface On A Network?

Aug 10, 2012

Having setup several WLC4402's in the past, I am posed with a new implementation that I have never tried before.  I will be setting up a new 5508 that will ONLY be used for remote access-points in H-REAP mode.  It is going into a data center and there will be no local LWAPP's.Is it still required to setup a dynamic interface on a network that will essentially only have the controller IP?  Or can I serve all the AP's out of the single, untagged management interface (which I believe is also the old ap-manager interface now?)

Cisco WAN :: ASA 5510 / Backup Isp Requires Changed Dynamic Rule?

Dec 14, 2011

I have one ASA 5510, a primary ISP (cable, the single public IP lives on the ASA), and a backup ISP (ADSL, separate router that hosts its single public IP). I use IP tracking to detect link down on the primary. When I pull the plug on the cable modem and go to "Route monitoring", I can see the ASA's default route is now the backup ISP default route. That conforms with [URL]  Pings to fail however, and when I do a packet trace the ASA complains about the dynamic nat rule that still points to the primary ISP's interface.Only when I change the existing dynamic NAT rule (on my inside interface) to use the backup ISP's pool (which is a single 192.168.x.y address) , does reply to my pings. So it kinda works but it's not full auto . I can't add a second dynamic nat rule on the same inside interface, nor can I select 2 IP pools in a single dynamic nat rule.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cisco E3000 - Guest Network Setup Via Web Interface?

Apr 6, 2010

I just installed my new Cisco E3000 and configured it over the HTTP interface, as I have on previous routers. I am unable to find any setting for the "Guest" wireless network (outbound internet only), or the Parental controls. Both of these are features of interest, and they're simply not listed in any of the web-based settings.
Puzzled, I did a Factory Reset and configured it via the Cisco Connect instead.. this had the Guest feature and Parental controls, but none of the other features I need, like QOS, or Port Forwarding, or DHCP disable.
It seems like the Web interface only configures some settings, and the Cisco Connect configures other settings, but I can't use them both.
Where does one set up the additional password for Guest access? Other than this, the router works fine on 2.4 & 5 GHz, nice..

Cisco Wireless :: 2504 / Assign SSID To Interface That Has Dynamic AP Management Enabled?

I am tasked with configuring a 2504 wireless controller.  Is it possible to assign an SSID to an interface that has dynamic ap management enabled?

2) DMZ
 Location 2:
Both locations are routable using network 1 at each location.  However, I need to configure several access points and send them to location 2.  These access points will communicate with the controller at location 1 on network 1.  Two SSIDs will need to be on network 1 at location 1.  The other SSID will be on Network 2 at location 1.  This network is not routable.

Now I set two Tunnel on each router connection Interface FastEthernet from each 2811 to SubInterface Fastethernet on 3800. I set OSPF as Routing Protocol and I configure QOS on Tunnel connections. Then I have a safe connection with backup connection between 3800 Router and each 2811 Router. Now I want to set VPN with IPSEC and Certification Authentication with CA Server for Security all connection. I set IPSEC and ISAKMP and Certificate on each Router and Set Dynamic VPN on Cisco 3800 Router and Static VPN on each Cisco 2811 Router. Now when if I configure tunnel with Crypto map, it works correct and all packets are encrypt. But if I try to set crypto on physical Interface(because I want to set qos on tunnel then protect packets on physical interface) however all packets are routed but crypto and encrypt d o not work. Set qos on tunnels and crypto on fastethernet interface.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 3550 Switch - Dynamic QoS Setup

Mar 28, 2012

I live in a condo building that uses 3 Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches connected to a Comcast router with 100 Mbps download. Currently we regulate bandwidth by providing each user with 3 Mbps download. Even if only two people are active they still only get 3 Mbps download. I would like to set it up so if two people are using they each get 50 Mbps; a sort of 'dynamic qos. Is this possible with these switches? Would we have to purchase a Cisco router in order to provide this feature?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5505 - Dynamic And Static Internal Hosts Setup

Nov 21, 2012

I'm working on setting up a template configuration for the Cisco ASA 5505 device that we'll use to configure more routers for various client needs. One of the requirements requested of me is the following: Internal hosts assigned a DHCP address are blocked from the internet Internal hosts with a static IP are permitted access to internet All internal hosts can communicate regardless of state
Now, I'm fairly new to this and I'm certain my terminology isn't correct so googling the problem has been fruitless. I have followed basic configuration guides and have configured the device to hand out DHCP addresses to hosts plugged in ports 1-7. If I'm plugged in and specify my address manually in the OS I am blocked from any access so I can only assume there is an access policy or some rule preventing me from authenticating against the router despite having set up VLAN1 to be the entire class C subnet. What sort of steps would I need to do to configure this? New access lists. For the record, the dhcp addresses are in the range of VPN users are assigned an address from and there seems to be no issues with that configuraiton. I don't wish to constrain what addresses a user can use should they specify a static IP ( should be just as valid as

Cisco Wireless :: SRP527W LAN Requires Frequent Restarts?

Jun 7, 2013

Have an SRP527W that I've had a couple of years,
Model:SRP527W, ADSL2+ AnnexA, 802.11n ETSI, 2FXS/1FXOVersion ID:V03Hardware Version:4.0.0Boot Version:1.1.17 (Jan 4 2010 - 21:15:46)Firmware Version:1.01.29 (002) Mar 29 2013ADSL Firmware Version:0.78.0Recovery Firmware:1.01.20 (011)Setup Wizard Version:20110728.00

As indicated in the subject, wireless users are finding that it is either unattachable (shows up in the list but fails to attach) or if you manage to authenticate and get in, it's painfully slow or simply drops out.  Security is WPA-PSK.   Only noticed the issue after a couple of Windows 8 laptops came into the household, but the problem still seems to be there when they are off so not sure if they are connected in some way or not.  Updated to the latest firmware - no change.   Wired connections are fine and when it's initially restarted, so is the wireless, seems to happen sometime after wireless services are restarted.  Only the one Wireless SSID, nothing fancy, max users around 5, all on laptops or the odd pad.   I changed channels done narrow wide etc, (using mixed mode - some Wireless N laptops some Wireless B/G.   Nothing seems to make any difference.  No log entries until the Wireless system is restarted, doesn't require a reboot of the router, just a SUBMIT of the existing wireless settings to force it to restart.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC5508 - Backup WLC Across A WAN?

Jan 29, 2013

We do not have a backup WLC, but are looking to purchase one. What I would like to know is, are there any problems with the secondary WLC being installed in our Main Data Site in Europe? These two main sites are connected via a 10M MPLS WAN.
So all the remote sites could still connect to the WLC in the US, but in the event of a WLC failure in the US, they would need to fail over to the site in Europe

Just unplugging the router then plugging it back in seems to fix it every time.   I've contacted my service provider and they say there's no issue on their end, and since I don't get this problem when I plug the modem directly to the PC I agree with them.  I've done a factory reset and that didn't work.  I've gone through the FAQ and can't find anything useful in there.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V6 - ISP Requires PAP Or CHAP Authentication?

Sep 9, 2011

My ISP here at my mother's in Italy ( gave me the following configuration:
1. Supported Protocol: PPPoE or PPPoA

2. VPI: 8

3. VCI: 35

4. Encapsulation: LLC (If not supported: VCMUX/NULL)

5. Modulation: Multimode

6. Authentication Protocol: PAP or CHAP
if I connect my laptop to the ADSL modem, it all works just fine and I can connect to the internet (as you can see )
HOWEVER, if I then try to configure my WRT54G v6 to use this internet connection (I NEED to be wireless here, or I won't be able to use my iPhone and iPad), there is no way apparently for me to configure the Encapsulation, Modulation, and Authentication Protocol above. I just upgraded my WRT54G's firmware, and am now running firmware Ver.1.02.8, 10/05/2009. I was hoping this would allow me to set these parameters, but I can't find a way.
I tried just configuring the WRT54G with PPPoE and the ISP's userId/password, but this doesn't seem to suffice, and I don't see any other settings I could try.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Cisco X2000 Drops Wireless Signal - Requires Reboot

I recently installed a Cisco X2000. Several PCs running Windows XP Pro connect wirelessly. Also, we have an Android device and iPhone connected to the wireless network. We have a network printer and network drive connected via wires to the router. Most of the time the router and cable modem features work well. However, every so often all devices lose wireless signal simultaneously. It is not possible to reconnect to the X2000 unless I unplug the X2000 and plug it back in. After this reboot, we can connect again. Obviously, this is quite frustrating. By the way, we get acceptable signal strength after the X2000 locks out however none of the devices (computers or phones) are able to connect.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 USB Printer Requires Cisco Connect Software?

Jul 28, 2011

I was excited to learn that USB printer support was added to the E4200. I'm disappointed to find that the USB printer option that is available in firmware version 1.0.02 requires Cisco Connect software. There is no version of Cisco Connect for Linux. I was hoping that this would allow the printer to be shared among my Win7 desktop, Win7 laptop, and my Linux desktop running Ubuntu 10.10. No such luck. WIth the printer connected to the router I can print with any one computer. My previous configuration had the printer connected to my WIn7 desktop so that desktop had to be turned-on to print. The bottom line is that I still can't print from the Linux box without turning on the desktop machine. Cisco please provide a way to connect to the printer without using the Connect software! Or provide a java version that can be run on any OS.

Cisco Wireless :: Several Remote Sites And Centralized WLC5508

Nov 8, 2011

I have been asked to setup wireless and we have purchased WLC 5508 and 1142 APs.We have several remote sites and a  centralized WLC.  The requirement are to have a common SSID  (Corporate) advertised across all the remote sites and have that SSID locally switched, and have another two SSID Guest and Mobile tunneled back to the central site (WLC).I want all the wireless (Corporate) clients to use the same subnet as the wired clients at each remote site, the IP assigment will be done by a DHCP server at the central site. The Guest and Mobile users will use a common subnet each across all the site and this will also be handled by the DHCP server at the central site.
I have enabled H-REAP with Centralized  Authentication and Local switching but I'm not sure about the second  part which is to have a common SSID (Corporate) across the remote sites and localy switched whilst having the other two SSIDs tunneled back to the WLC. Cisco TAC told me to configure dynamic interfaces for each of the remote site but then he said I still wouldn't be able to switch the Corporate traffic localy if I use a different subnet to the wired subnet for the wireless clients.

Cisco Wireless :: Minimal WLC5508 CLI Configuration To Access GUI?

Sep 8, 2010

I have on my desk a WLC-5508 that I need to setup to ship to a remote location. Normally we configure 4402 model and this model/version appears to be much different. I am trying to configure just enough via the command line to access the GUI via a laptop directly connected to the device. I’ve gone through the Wizard Configuration Tool where you set the hostname, admin account, and management interface (among other things). We use LAG and tagged VLAN on the management interface. I’ve been told in the past this is how we configured the 4402 models via laptop directly connected once the GUI is accessible, but with LAG enabled I don’t understand how a laptop could communicate via trunk, so I've disabled LAG and set the VLAN to untagged. In either case the laptop does not communicate with the WLC. Skipping ahead to my current setup I see the following information via the CLI:

(Cisco Controller) show>interface detailed management
Interface Name................................... managementMAC Address...................................... IP Address....................................... Netmask.......................................
