Cisco Wireless :: 2504 / Assign SSID To Interface That Has Dynamic AP Management Enabled?

Jan 3, 2012

I am tasked with configuring a 2504 wireless controller.  Is it possible to assign an SSID to an interface that has dynamic ap management enabled?

Scenario:
Location1:
1) 10.0.0.0/24
2)192.168.0.0/24 DMZ
 Location 2:
1) 10.0.5.0

Both locations are routable using network 1 at each location.  However, I need to configure several access points and send them to location 2.  These access points will communicate with the controller at location 1 on network 1.  Two SSIDs will need to be on network 1 at location 1.  The other SSID will be on Network 2 at location 1.  This network is not routable.

Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Assign Single Ssid To Multiple Interface Groups By Assigning Ssid To Multiple AP Groups

Aug 26, 2012

Is it possible to assign a single ssid to multiple interface groups by assigning the ssid to multiple AP groups?

I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building.  Each building is also further grouped as AP groups.  I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building?  I'm thinking it will work.

Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?

5508 controller
7.2.110.0  code
6 buildings
6 interface groups
1 ssid

Cisco Wireless :: 2504 Management On VLAN?

May 10, 2012

We are installing a 2504 with management on VLAN2.  The management port is on interface 1 which is attached to a layer 3 3750.  From other VLANs in the network we cannot manage the 2504 controller with the web manager.  We are running the latest code, 7.2.103.0, since we are using 3600 APs.  We have a TAC case open, but spent 3 hrs with them and they can't figure out the problem.  TAC did some debugging and saw that the 2504 is ARPing for the address of the PC on the other VLAN instead of sending the packet to its default gateway. How to get success with the management interface on a VLAN and managing the controller from another VLAN?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E300 Networking Failed - SSID Is Enabled

Apr 29, 2013

I have a small motel and I provide net access to guests via the E3000 2.4Ghz band. There is no problem here. I also have set up the 5Ghz band for employee access. The networks are designated Bates Guest for the 2.4 Ghz network and Bates Private for the 5 Ghz network (yeah, believe it or not it really is the Bates Motel). As I said, the guest network is operating just fine. The private network on the other hand is giving me fits. The remote devices are not seeing the private network and, yes, the SSID is enabled. I can see and use it with my iPad no problem but my iPod does not. None of  the remote users can see the private network. BTW I admin the router/network from a Win 7 desktop setup. Whats bugging me is how one of my two remote devices sees and uses the 5 Ghz network and other one does not.

Cisco Wireless :: 2504 Management Over Separate Port

Sep 25, 2012

is it possible to Manage the 2504 Controller over a separate Interface. Exmaple: Port 1 is used as controller management interface (untagged) - AP's are connected to the same VLAN Port 1 is used for Guest Traffic (VLAN 3 tagged) Port 2 should be used to manage the WLAN Controller from the internal LAN. (tested with untagged, tagged, same issue)

with this Setup it is possible to ping the Port 2 IP-Address from the internal LAN but if you try to connect to the controller, the Browser shows "Site not reachable".

I also enabled "Management via Wireless" but without success. I also tried to add the "management" VLAN as tagged on the management Interface with the same effect, the controller is not manageable from the internal LAN. On 5508 WLAN Controller i have an similar setup, but with LAG Port enabled. There this works.

The only interface were i can manage the WLAN controller is from the management Interface.

Cisco Wireless :: AP-manager Interface On 2504?

Jan 8, 2013

I'm getting familiar with an existing, working wireless installation that uses a 2504 controller (recently upgraded to 7.3.101.0).

From the documentation, it looks like there should be a "AP-manager" interface by default (static).  There is not one.

Configuring the Management Interface (GUI) #

Step 1 Choose Controller > Interfaces to open the Interfaces page.
###
Figure 3-3     Interfaces Page
#

According to that document, there are 4 Static interfaces.  On the one I'm working on, there are only two: "management" and "virtual."  (There are also a couple of "Dynamic" interfaces that have been set up.)From reading the documentation, it sounds like there should be an AP-manager interface, and that this would have been there by default.

It also sounds like an AP-manager interface is needed:Information About the AP-Manager Interface ## A controller has one or more AP-manager interfaces, which are used for all Layer 3 communications between the controller and lightweight access points after the access points have joined the controller. The AP-manager IP address is used as the tunnel source for CAPWAP packets from the controller to the access point and as the destination for CAPWAP packets from the access point to the controller.

Question 1:  If I do not have an AP-Manager interface, are the APs connecting at L2?  Is there some way to tell on these controllers whether APs are connecting at L2 or at L3 using udp?

Question 2:  Is it not the case that one AP-manager interface should be there by default?  (I see in the docs that more than one can be created, but in that case I expect that the additional interface(s) would show in the list as "Dynamic" and not "Static.")

A bit of background: The customer network is largely one flat network now, and I'm planning on subnetting it, and routing from the closets up.  I want to make sure what may need to be changed in this wireless setup before proceeding.  (The main wireless users are also getting IP addresses on the same flat network, at this point.  That obviously will change so that they are on their own subnet.)

Cisco :: Client Looking To Segment Traffic Via SSID Using 2504

Nov 28, 2012

I have a client with a WLC 2504 that wants to route "guest" users through a gateway appliance "radiusgateway.com" and all others through the network. It appears to me this would require the use of two fa ports on the WLC. One directly connected to the radiusgateway (which is connected to a switchport) and the other fa interface connected directly to a switchport bypassing the proxy server.

My issue is, "how do you segment the ssid traffic via the WLC". The interfaces cia the gui aren't that intelligent, there's an enable and logging drop down. Via the command line, I didn't see any methods of routing traffic.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC5508 - Requires To Setup A Dynamic Interface On A Network?

Aug 10, 2012

Having setup several WLC4402's in the past, I am posed with a new implementation that I have never tried before.  I will be setting up a new 5508 that will ONLY be used for remote access-points in H-REAP mode.  It is going into a data center and there will be no local LWAPP's.Is it still required to setup a dynamic interface on a network that will essentially only have the controller IP?  Or can I serve all the AP's out of the single, untagged management interface (which I believe is also the old ap-manager interface now?)

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 5508 Management Interface Connection

Aug 1, 2010

I'm setting up a new 5508.  I've used the config from a 4402, have successfully connected to the Service port to manage the device, but for some reason cannot connect to the Management interface.  In this case, port 1.

The service port is connected to a Catalyst switch and grabbed an ip address (10.2.x.x subnet) no problem.  I can access the 5508 via https using the SP.  However, port 1 is connected to the same Catalyst switch, but on a different vlan (subnet 10.20.x.x).  Both ends show that the interfaces are up, I can ping the interface from any other host on the network, but when I try to manage the device via https I cannot connect.  We are using WCS and I cannot add the device from the WCS.  About all I can do is ping that interface.

Cisco Wireless :: 6500 Unable To Reach WISM2 Management Interface

Mar 28, 2012

I've just reset our WISM2 in the test lab back to factory default as I needed to reconfigure the 6500 and the WISM2 itself. Bearing in mind I had it working before.I've just renamed and re-addressed some of the vlans so things flow better and make it easier to add more WISM2s in the future. Now I've run through the initial configuration and it's rebooted ok and show WISM status is showing Oper-Up and there's a port channel 407 been created as I would expect. However, I am unable to get to the management interface via GUI or SSH. In fact from the 6500 I can't even ping the management interface (but I can the service port). The Vlans have been changed in the 6500 config so it knows the native-vlan and service vlan etc and all the vlans are up/up.

Cisco WAN :: 3845 - How To Create Multilink Interface And Assign IP

Oct 16, 2011

I have a question regarding mlppp and bonding mpls T1 circuits.   For the longest time we have been able to get by on one T1 circuit coming into our 3845 router. Well this T1 has now become congested and they are wanting to add bandwidth to this T1.   We connect to the phone company via an MPLS T1 currently. So now it appears as though we are going to purchase another MPLS T1 circuit and bond the two T1's together. The way our network is currently set up, we utilize the same AS number on all of our remote routers regardless of location.  Keep in mind I don't have any sort of mlppp set up at this moment, so unfortunately I can't post any configs.  I'm just questioning the design portion and how to go about doing this.

Here is where my dilemma begins........

For every MPLS circuit we order on the remote end, we specifiy an IP for the remote router itself and one for the provider to assign to their equipment (the bgp neighbor statements).   Now granted i'm no BGP extraordinaire, not even a novice really, but I don't understand how I am going to bring two T1 circuits into the same router (basically with 2 pairs of IP's).   In order to bond the two T1's together, i'll need to create a multilink interface and assign an IP to that, but yet I still have 2 SETS of ip addresses. And if that isn't enough of a dilemma, I also need to spedify a neighbor statement in order for my AS to bind to the adjacent provider AS, but yet I have two IP addresses for that as well.
