I need to configure a Cisco 2911. I need to give an interface in this module (VWIC3 - 4MFT-T1/E1) an IP address. My question is, how to assign an IP to an interface in this module.
My purpose is to get connectivity via T1 line to another router.
Any example of how to configure an sm-es2-16-p service module to route over an Cisco 2911?
View 2 Replies View Related how this switch module works in 2911 router? I have two 2911 routers in HSRP configuration for redundancy with crossover cable between switch modules. OSPF running on routers.If active router loses its power and then comes back again, it boots first, its internal link to switch module comes up and it starts to forward packets to switch module. The switch module starts to boot only after router is ready. So I have outage of about 3-4 minutes. For our real-time applications it is way too long.
any way to start booting of the switch module before router gets ready?I understand I can boot it manually, but it is only after router is ready. Only way to get around it I found is to disable internal link and use router interface to connect to the switch module.
I have a cisco 878 router and I can’t assign ip address to it’s fast Ethernet interface. When I assign ip address give me this message: “you can not assign ip address to layer 2 interface”.
But I can not understand why give me this alert when I use a layer3 device?!

We got 4 WAP that we will connect to the switch module that needs power. So the switch module with POE doesn't give any power out.

Stumped again with my Catalyst 2950. Everything is working perfectly with wan/dhcp/router on fa 0/1 with all ports assigned to vlan1. All devices plugged in connect to the router correctly with ip's being assigned via dhcp.Instead of hooking up by console port I want to be able to SSH or telnet in to the switch using any port while still maintaining the above functionallity. Is it possible to assign a dhcp assigned ip address to vlan 2 and have vlan1 and 2 bridged? Or is there a better way of doing this ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding mlppp and bonding mpls T1 circuits. For the longest time we have been able to get by on one T1 circuit coming into our 3845 router. Well this T1 has now become congested and they are wanting to add bandwidth to this T1. We connect to the phone company via an MPLS T1 currently. So now it appears as though we are going to purchase another MPLS T1 circuit and bond the two T1's together. The way our network is currently set up, we utilize the same AS number on all of our remote routers regardless of location. Keep in mind I don't have any sort of mlppp set up at this moment, so unfortunately I can't post any configs. I'm just questioning the design portion and how to go about doing this.
Here is where my dilemma begins........
For every MPLS circuit we order on the remote end, we specifiy an IP for the remote router itself and one for the provider to assign to their equipment (the bgp neighbor statements). Now granted i'm no BGP extraordinaire, not even a novice really, but I don't understand how I am going to bring two T1 circuits into the same router (basically with 2 pairs of IP's). In order to bond the two T1's together, i'll need to create a multilink interface and assign an IP to that, but yet I still have 2 SETS of ip addresses. And if that isn't enough of a dilemma, I also need to spedify a neighbor statement in order for my AS to bind to the adjacent provider AS, but yet I have two IP addresses for that as well.
Is it possible to assign 2 ports to a vlan on this switch and have the 2 machines connected to those ports be able to see each other without having to go off of the switch? If so, how would it need to be setup on the switch?

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 and I have my internal and external interfaces configured but I currently cannot ping from the inside to an IP Address on the outside. I had this setup and working and I have another set of equirement that I am replacing that is working with my service provider so I know it is a configuration issue. When I ping 4.2.2.2 for example I get:

I am using Cisco 2911 & IOS version is 15.1. My problem is that after some days (e.g. 15-20 days), the routing table suddenly stops updating & then I have to enter the default route again to make it up. I am using Track 1 to track default route here. After primary link goes down, the Track is also going down but after coming the primary link up, the track is not coming up. So, I have to add the default route again to make it up.

For a few of them, I would like the switch to dynamically assign an IP address to them via DHCP. Is the switch capable of doing this? If so, how can I do it? I tried looking through Cisco Network Assistant and I couldn't find it. Some web pages have suggested I telnet into the switch and issue commands like "ip dhcp ?" to see what commands are possible. I can telnet in and if I type but I get an "Unrecognized command" for both "ip ?" and "ip dhcp ?". This makes me think I'm reading the wrong web pages. I did come across the term "DHCP snooping". It seems relevant, but very difficult for me to grasp.

ISP router has one address of (for argument sake) 1.1.1.0/30 net, - let's say they have 1.1.1.1 we have the other usable address of 1.1.1.2/30 assigned to our 3825 router. Is it possible to use hsrp or vrrp if there is not two valid/unique "wan" IPs to assign to our routers? For example, if we had a pair of 3825 routers? are we stuck with basically a manual failover or requesting our isp to provide a larger address wan block?

These access points will communicate with the controller at location 1 on network 1. Two SSIDs will need to be on network 1 at location 1. The other SSID will be on Network 2 at location 1. This network is not routable.
