Cisco WAN :: 2911 - Switch Module With POE Doesn't Give Any Power Out
Nov 7, 2011
We got a new Cisco 2911 router (CISCO2911/K9) with a switch module (SM ES2-16-P) on it. Everything works fine after the configuration except for the power. We got 4 WAP that we will connect to the switch module that needs power. So the switch module with POE doesn't give any power out.
how this switch module works in 2911 router? I have two 2911 routers in HSRP configuration for redundancy with crossover cable between switch modules. OSPF running on routers. If active router loses its power and then comes back again, it boots first, its internal link to switch module comes up and it starts to forward packets to switch module. The switch module starts to boot only after router is ready. So I have outage of about 3-4 minutes. For our real-time applications it is way too long.
any way to start booting of the switch module before router gets ready?I understand I can boot it manually, but it is only after router is ready. Only way to get around it I found is to disable internal link and use router interface to connect to the switch module.
After a power problem at our data centre we find Module 11 of our Cisco 6513 Core Switch in PWR Down state.Show Module 11 returns: Status: PWRDownShow Power Status Module 11 returns: OperStatus Off (Module Reset due to an exception or user request). The command: Power enable Module 11 was issued and returned the following: %PM_SCP-SP-1-LCP_FW_ERR: System resetting module 11 to recover from error: Linecard received system exception. Errcode = 2509000001.%OIR-SP-3-PWRCYCLE: Card in module 11 is being powercycled Öff (Module reset due to exception or user request%C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: Power to module in slot 11 set off (Module Reset due to exception or user request),We have restarted the switch twice. The module is currently not passing traffic causing downtime to services.
I have upgraded my C3560-PS-S switch to the latest IOS version 12(2)55-SE4 and it is not providing PoE anymore? It used to work before this upgrade? I searched Cisco bugtrack and there is bug defined for this IOS/Switch.

We have small network with 15 Computers all connected to SRW224G4 . After a power brake our switch dosent "boot" anymore. I see all leds working flashing etc but no network acces, no Serial acces. When i try connecting to serial port and "reset" device the screen is blank.
ok the connection is a dial up it doesn't give any static ip address when i connect it now it will give me different ip , when i disconnect it again it will give me another ip. an the message appear at the server and the affect the client.....the client are using satic ip address.
It has been 4 months since I upgraded my internet connection from 2 mbps to 4 mbps.I have called the ISP but they say the speed is okay. When I open 192.168.1.1 it says(datas shown below),but everytime i download something or measure my internet connection it never goes more than 2 mbps (max 230 kbs download[CODE]
RVS4000 router doesnt give out an IP address to a client connecting with QVPN v1.303, connection seems good, router logs the connection and tracks its duration etc but client side does not get an IP from the RVS4000 side -keeps local LAN ip + there is no access to the remote shares etc. RVS 4000 has DHCP enabled. Client side subnet is different to the VPN side. VPN users are setup correctly (Router logs the user as connected) . Port 443 is not setup in port forwarding.

Today, suddenly my internet went down so I checked up on it and I found out that something might be wrong with my router. I can connect just fine if I connect my computer with the modem directly but when I plug the modem to the router, I can connect to the router but it doesn't give me any internet.
I have some confusion about some hardware components. I watched the video datasheet of cisco routers and switches. In cisco 2901 and 2911 models of routers there is service module . What is meant by service module. what does it do ? If we buy a new 6500 switch, what are the components we get bydefault. Is there any special configuraton to be done for 6500 . like Sup engine config etc. What is the difference between ASIC and Sup engine ? In which slots, we need to insert Supervisor Engine ? does it vary with the model . (6503, 6505, 6509, 6513 etc).
I need to configure a Cisco 2911. I need to give an interface in this module (VWIC3 - 4MFT-T1/E1) an IP address. My question is, how to assign an IP to an interface in this module.
My purpose is to get connectivity via T1 line to another router.
i will going to buy a router 2911 but i want know if support a interface ADSL modulo like backup in case that my primary link WAN Ethernet down and up the adsl link with a module HWIC ADSL pots.
I would like to ask if how can we determine by mear physical inspection if the power supply of a CISCO2911/K9 router is AC, POE or DC? Do we have images of the actual spare power supply?
Cisco IP phones attached to a Moduke in one of my Cat6500 access Switches suddenly went down. Upon closer inspection of the Switch Sys log, I observed the following Sys log error messages: [Module 9 is experiencing the following error: Inline Power Module - PS Voltage bad. ]A sh Mod output indicates the PoE daughter card and Main Module are "ok" - see attached output. It appears issue is related to the the actual Power Supply module and not the blade module and installed PoE Daughter card. I am inclined to open a TAC case for a PS replacement, but wanted to see if this can be resolved without a hardware replacement. At this time all 48 IP phones attached to this module are out of Service.
while upgrade NME-NAM module IOS on 2821, as a result of sudden disorder in power system nam helper image crashed and it seems
i have to fix this !
(as you may know without helper image you cant load IOS image of NAM so it doesn't work !!) on the other hand in Cisco documents it's mentioned besides upgrading NAM IOS we can upgrade helper image too. but i couldn't found in Cisco downloads the appropriate link to download either older version or latest version of , Nam helper image. (even with CCO Account)
in addition i have a brand new NAM Module that contains NAM Helper Image but I couldnt find a way to tranfer this image via ftp to ftp server
I am using 10Gig link to connect distribution and access switches. Since we are terminating the cables at multiple locations, we are also doing the link budgeting. The CISCO SFP 10G-LR module data sheet shows two values for the transmit power one of which is maximum power .5dBm and another is minimum power -8.2 dBm. Which value should I choose for the link budgeting.
I have a cisco 6509 configured with a cisco NAM module. I have reset the config of the NAM module by the config clear command. Since this moment I can't no more ping the NAM module via the management port: OK via the 127.0.0.91 address and log in ok via the ios cli session command. [code] I have already tried to reboot the module via the ios cli hw module command and nothing better.
I'm having issue with 881W router. this router doesnt let me logon to it after I restart the router and enter correct credentials. after being at the router - it doesn't let me logon to its AP module even after adding correct credentials. I've changed 2 routers so far but see same issue.
try to setup up credentials using: username <username> privilege 15 secret 0 <password> or username <username> priviledge 15 password 0 <password>
I would like to know if there's a way to show Current-Utilization percentage within the messages generated by the Fault Management Module in LMS 4.0 [code] As you can see above CurrentUtilization percentage is not shown in Event Description section.
Contrary to the information contained in the link above, these two parts do not play well together. I purchased both and plugged them in and no go. It doesn't even light anything on the WAP. It worked fine when it was on its own 12V DC adapter but not plugged into this injector. What I don't understand is why Cisco doesn't just make a Universal power injector that is essentially a 1 port switch and is 802.3af or 802.3at compatible. Its maddening. It looks like I'm going to have to get an SD208P and waste 6 ports just to get one with the correct POE for the WAP4410.
when am trying to plug a PC into the switch, it takes power as the switch is POE . but when trying to plug IP Camera Device it does not take any power. although i have cisco 2960 - 24 ports both PC and IP Camera getting power. while troublshooting by #show power inline , i get nothing as well.
We hav ea 5508 pair running in HA mode. Initially the conrollers were running the 73..101.0 code. We were having issues where the primary controller would software reset (according to show sysinfo), the secondary (HA SKU) would take over and then after a few hours the secondary would also software reset and the primary would take over. Also I notice that after this happens that the Tx Power Control doesn't seem to adjust the A radio settings, most of the radios are at the 6 level. Normally they are 1, 2, or 3. Last week I upgraded to 7.3.112.0, later that day the same thing happened.
I am having issues (nothing new there) I have a bad IOS on a switch module, and the config is set to boot to that IOS, and as such I get a nasty boot loop, I am trying to figure out how to get into rommon but all the documentation I can find for this just says go into rommon and never tells me how to get there on a switch module that thinks it has a good IOS. (The IOS is for our normal service module but this one is an odd-ball switch)
I have a Ethernet module (SM-ES3G-16-P) installed in a 3945 router and noticed during first boot no licenses are active at all. I would assume at a mimimum ipbase would be active. With this module, does static routing work with just ipbase?
Example: interface g0/1 no switchport ip addr 192.168.254.2 255.255.255.0
Does the Network Module "C3KX-NM-1G" and "C3KX-NM-10G" for Cisco Catalyst Switch 3750X Comes with a transciever like GLC-SX-MM or SFP-10G-SR or do I need to order in seperately.
We have Cisco 3945 Router with SM-ES3-24P Switch Module. when we tried to configure routing in Router and Layer 3 ports on Switch module, the inter-communicaiton is not working?
how we can use routing in 3945 with SM-ES3-24P module?
I have one 3945 router with SM-ES3-16-P module with SL-ES3-16-IPS. I am not seeing any license for this module in CLI output of my router. How do I add license for this module and activate. do I need IP Service IOS for this module
I am wondering if xconnect L2TPV3 feature could be done on multiple SVI interfaces on 871 router and 2911 router with built in 8 port switch?Like I need to extend two ethernet interfaces and can I use two SVIs on router built-in switch module on each side?
Suffered a big outage on the network, the fix was to reload the module 3 on the 6509 switch, we had these errors on the log %CONST_DIAG-SW1_SP-3-HM_PORT_TEST_FAIL: Switch 1 Module 3 TestUnusedPortLoopback Port(s)[24,46] failed. System operation continues.in the end, we reloaded the card and it was all ok. is there anything I can do to check the card / or any deeper logs? would that error cause the card to crash?
