how we can use routing in 3945 with SM-ES3-24P module?
I have a Ethernet module (SM-ES3G-16-P) installed in a 3945 router and noticed during first boot no licenses are active at all. I would assume at a mimimum ipbase would be active. With this module, does static routing work with just ipbase?

I've discovered you can't have the on GE ports associated with a VLan, and I'm when I've previously researched for a solution, bridging was mentioned but I cannot seem to get it to work (or completely understand it)The reason I would like to use all 10 ports on for the LAN is becuase I have 10 devices I need to connect to the 1941?
I've a 3945 with SM-ES3G-24-P module installed and tried to configure some routing but it doesn't work .
1. L3 interface on the switch modules (with ip address configured)
2. OPSF on the router with connected interface redistribute (which includes the switch module L3 interfaces)
I don't see any of the switch module L3 interfaces routes in the router, not even the connected interface.

We just received a new C2911 G2 ISR and have been trying to configure the EtherSwitch SM-ES2-24-P module on it. Through the router console, I tried assigning an IP address to the router Gi1/1 interface which I assume is the link to the Etherswitch module but all I'm getting is "IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links" - as per the docs, I should be able to assign an IP address on that "logical" interface link. Any other way for me to configure the ports on that switch module?

The issue that we are experimenting is that, although the module's interfaces are up and HSRP in correctly configured, the show standby summary displays that the Active router is local in both routers. We also have some GigabitEthernet in the routers and they are correctly running HSRP. Does the WLC Modules physically support HSRP?
We are having problems with a two router 3945 in HSRP and a switch 2960.The two routers are connected to the switch 2960 through differentes ports. The problem is that we loose connection between the router and the switch.When we excute the command: show cdp neighbor at router, it shows nothing.If we try to make ping to the 2960 switch it is no reachable.If we make ping to the other router 3945 it is not reachable.All other function of the router are o.k.We are attaching the IOS of the routers and switch 2960 and a document in which make reference to a BUG in which mention about arp overwrite due arp attack which produce DoS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe just recently purchased a 3945 ISR G2 router and have a SRE-910 module (with two hard drives) configured in a Raid 1. We are running a stand-alone version of ESXi on the service module and I'm trying to figure out how to monitor the status of the Raid on the drives (along with other health issues). SNMP has revealed nothing so far and even opening a support case for which MIB's to use has proved fruitless. All the documents I find on monitoring the modules say to use LMS which is now Cisco Prime. I've downloaded the trial copy, put in the SNMP settings and scanned the router. I get device results and it shows that I have the SRE-910 module installed, but I get no other configuration / device informaiton from the module itself.
I tried to create a new Monitoring template using the NAM health as the base template (which I'm assuming this is the correct template). Unfortunately, when I actually try to deploy the template against the discovered router, I get an 'Unexpected end of list' error which makes me assume I'm still doing something wrong.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSuffered a big outage on the network, the fix was to reload the module 3 on the 6509 switch, we had these errors on the log %CONST_DIAG-SW1_SP-3-HM_PORT_TEST_FAIL: Switch 1 Module 3 TestUnusedPortLoopback Port(s)[24,46] failed. System operation continues.in the end, we reloaded the card and it was all ok. is there anything I can do to check the card / or any deeper logs? would that error cause the card to crash?

I want the ports to act similiarly to the ports on an 881 router - where I assign the VLANs on the router and I set the VLANs to the switchport interfaces.I would like to be able to create the VLANs on the router portion of the 2951 and then, enter the switch module and configure the Ports to the VLANs but, how do I logically connect router to the switch? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with a single physical NIC which I have used the advanced management tools to create two virtual NICs (say vlan 10 and vlan 20) and both are on the same subnet (say 192.168.4.x). One NIC is for normal TCP/IP traffic and one is for broadcast/multicast traffic (I have some custom software that requires this to be the case and works fine on an older laptops with built-in physical NIC and PCMCIA XIRCOM NIC). The dual NIC laptop communicates with a dual NIC server via a Cisco 2811 router (which has a 16 port switch module at the back) and has vlans set up so.
What I want is for the single NIC laptop (with two virtual NICs) to be able to also communicate with the server. Basically, one NIC is for normal traffic and one is for multicast/broadcast traffic. All three machines need to be able to talk to each other using the NIC for normal traffic and both laptops must be able to receive broadcasts from the server. What is the best way to configure the router to handle the trunking/tagging? Most configuration documentation I read has two complete subnets for the two virtual NICs. Note that all three machines use static IPs and are part of a workgroup so no DNS and domain servers etc.
Trying to find some documentation as to whether there are any other steps for inserting this new module in our N7K. We have 2 blades in already and 2 Sups in 5 & 6. I'm assuming its like the 6500s, where we just slide it in and the OS configures the global parms for it and the default VLAN.

Afer some time VSS switch didnt response to console commands and all the users in access switches were not able to reach the gateway (VSS). Then the problem disappeared once we rebooted both the switches in VSS.why the VSS switch become non-responsive?

OSPF running on routers.If active router loses its power and then comes back again, it boots first, its internal link to switch module comes up and it starts to forward packets to switch module. The switch module starts to boot only after router is ready. So I have outage of about 3-4 minutes. For our real-time applications it is way too long.
any way to start booting of the switch module before router gets ready?I understand I can boot it manually, but it is only after router is ready. Only way to get around it I found is to disable internal link and use router interface to connect to the switch module.

I have radius setup on a windows 2k8 box and all of my other switches 2960's and above have no issues. I am unable to input the nas-identifier of 32 into the config using - radius-server 32 attribute 32 include-in-access-req format %h as well as the aaa session-id common commands. Doing a debug radius says that the radius server is not defined.

I have a 1941 that I am going to deploy with a HWIC-D-9ESW switch module (I only need 3 switch ports but need the PoE). I am going to hang a 1262 autonomous AP off one of the ports but I need to configure MAC address port-security so that only that AP can pass traffic. I know the switch modules are 'almost' exactly like a switch for commands but I can't seem to enable or configure any port-security settings. Is port-security no available on the switch modules?
