Sep 4, 2012i have a problem with a cisco cat. 4507 edge switch as when i have a login ssh session to the switch the supervisor engine restart and the redundant Sup. engine becomes the active and so on this problem mainly happen when i have multible SSH session to the switch and it happened very rarely with a single ssh login
the ios version i use is cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG which im using on all my edge switch and they are all working fine excpt this one

Sep 5, 2012I've been conducting research on configuring 3 distribution switches in my network which are Cisco Catalyst 4507's to communicate with our core over layer 3. Our core switch which is already configured at Layer 3 for intervlan routing is a Cisco Catalyst 6509.
I've got the configuration portion complete and all devices are able to communicate my only question is about QoS. Do I have to configure QoS at the layer 3 interfaces for voice, if so how is that completed. We have several vlans and separate the vlans for each building by voice and data. We only configure ports on the access switches with voice vlans for QoS and we use the auto qos option on these interfaces.

Nov 17, 2011I will be start with the disclaimer that I am very technical, but a huge novice to the enterprise-grade Cisco swtiches.
How IOS software versions are licensed on a Catalyst 4507 switch? I am very confused at this point.
For example, if I buy IOS Enterprise Services for a new Catalyst 4507 switch, what form does the software license take? Is the license embedded on the switch? Does it come as an e-mail or certificate with a PAK? Does it come on a CD?
We sold a 4507 with Enterprise Services to a client, and they are saying they don't have the right IOS version installed. I assumed there must be some license key they needed, but the Cisco licensing help desk does not seem to indicate there are any licenesable items on our sales order number (even though IOS Enterprise Services is a line item on the sales order).
I know there was a disk that came with the switch with an Enterprise Services .BIN file on it, but I had assumed that was just a software version image, similar to the images I can download off the Cisco website. But is this actually the license key?
Since I can download image files off the Cisco website, I assumed there must be some other key needed to activate the license.

Jun 4, 2012I was upgrading IOS on 4507 R with dual supervisor.I download the IOS on Active supervisior and did reboot.After reboot i login to switch then i got switch standby prompt.I found that after reboot active supervisior became standby supervisior.
Now new IOS is on standby supervisior.Need to confirm below..So this means that IOS does not syn within the supervisiors as compared to config right ?
-Which command i can use that will copy IOS from standby supe to Active supe??
-Which command i can use that will show both active and standby supe with new IOS?
-Is there any command that i can use to switchover from active to standby supe??

Jun 28, 2012We have a customer that has a fiber rum between 2 building. They want to have 2 seperate fibers active that terminate into the same switch on each end. (redundancy).
In building A they have an extreme networks black diamond switch that does not support STP.In bulding B they have a Cisco 4507.
We will ahve to use a layer 3 routed connection due to the fact their switch in building A does not support STP.Our tech does not want to use static route becuase he does not want to setup IP SLA for the redundant connection.
Will RIPv2 work for this scenario and failover to the other fiber if needed? The hop count is the same for each fiber path..

Jul 20, 2011getting radius to work on a 2950G switch with an older IOS of 12.1(22)EA1. I have radius setup on a windows 2k8 box and all of my other switches 2960's and above have no issues. I am unable to input the nas-identifier of 32 into the config using - radius-server 32 attribute 32 include-in-access-req format %h as well as the aaa session-id common commands. Doing a debug radius says that the radius server is not defined.

Mar 3, 2013configuring EtherChannel between 3750-X cross-stack and 6509E switch. I use two ports on 3750s, and two ports on 6509. I just need it as a trunk. For some elusive reason one port on 3750 keeps being err-disabled, and one on 6509 notconnected.
