I am going to be putting an SG200-08 (8 port switch) inside a 2U rack mount chassis. To enhance cooling I thought I would remove the outer case. Are there, or would there be any issues with using the switch with the cover removed?
What is the cause of having a huge number ( 875349) of total output drops on one of my gigabit utp port gi 2/12 which is connected to Cisco 1841 fa0/0 router by mean of cat5e cable.I did change the cable from cat5e to cat 6 and tried to increase hold queue to 4096 and to tweak wrr queue bandwidth
configuring EtherChannel between 3750-X cross-stack and 6509E switch. I use two ports on 3750s, and two ports on 6509. I just need it as a trunk. For some elusive reason one port on 3750 keeps being err-disabled, and one on 6509 notconnected.
I recently ran an upgrade on my 6509-E's and when the first switch came back up, 3 of the 10/100 switches that were in the chassis did not power on. After further investigation, these models are not supported by this latest IOS version. The module # is : WS-X6248-RJ-45
We have one WS-X6348-RJ-45 and since it was a few weeks ago I did this I can't remember for sure but I believe this one came up.
Where can I found the information regarding this being unsupported but I know it is out there and any page that showed me that this was unsupported with the latest stable IOS of 12.(33).
In addition to this question, I have approval to purchase some newer gigabit switches that will be supported by this new IOS version and hopefully at least the next few over the next few years. Which specific gig models are currently and hopefully should be supported for the next few years? I don't need PoE or anything spectacular, just regular switches that are attached to either servers or virtual hosts. I've been looking at the lists of what is out there and it seems like there are hundreds of different models and it is becoming difficult to determine what is what.
I have changed the universal IOS on the 3750X to IP base..but they still wont come up as a stack. On the 3750X I don't see any log entry, on 3750G (major version mismatch).
We have bought four identical 3750X switches with identical SW-images: 12.2(55)SE3 C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M
We initially connected two switches, this resulted in forming a stack. With the other two switches we wanted to do the same thing. However, we received the following message:
%STACKMGR-5-MAJOR_VERSION_MISMATCH: Major Version Mismatch (Local 1 - Received 6) with neighbor-1
Both switches will not see each other and the output of show switch stack-ports shows only one switch and both stack ports as being Down.
I did some digging using the show platform stack-manager all command to find out that three of the 3750X's have the stack version number 1.45 and one has 6.45. This would obviously indicate the reason behind the mismatch, but the SW-versions on all new switches are identical!
Checking the CISCO site explains that mismatching of Major version is critical:
Major Version Number Incompatibility Among Switches
Switches with different major Cisco IOS software versions usually have different stack protocol versions. Switches with different major version numbers are incompatible and cannot exist in the same switch stack.
That's all I could find. Nothing about changing the major version number, so all I can suspect is that IOS version needs to be the same.
My cisco 4948 switch is generating the below error, how do i troubleshoot this error.

i have a problem with a cisco cat. 4507 edge switch as when i have a login ssh session to the switch the supervisor engine restart and the redundant Sup. engine becomes the active and so on this problem mainly happen when i have multible SSH session to the switch and it happened very rarely with a single ssh login
the ios version i use is cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-54.SG which im using on all my edge switch and they are all working fine excpt this one
I have been getting the logs in my cisco 6513 switch [code] On further investigating in the module 9 which has a DFC card also , we found the source of this error whether it is a source of any upcoming potential impact or can be simply ignored

We are using Cisco Router 1841 and users reporting issue related to VoIP. After investigation, seeing input errors on Router LAN interface, but there is no error on connected switch interface. [code]
We have network topo ( attach file)Two switch run VRRP, if I ping 10.0.10.3 from switch SW-6504-01 with source 10.0.10.2, ping lost one packet every 10 packets. We have other interface vlan with same problem

I need to know how is the ambient temperature for the Nexus 7000 switches to plan a new datacenter. In the datasheet I found the following information regarding this topic:"GR-63-CORE Network Equipment Building Standards (NEBS) specification published by Telcordia Technologies in Section 4.1.2". How are the specification for temperature in this standard?
We are getting some error logs on Nexus switch 7K.

I have a new 6509E with 2 sup 2T cards. The 10GE ports on both sup cards will connect to 2 5548s. Can i connect the management interface on the new 6509E to the old 6509 until i free up space to bring the line cards over?
I have a couple of 6509-E combined in a VSS system. I need to upgrade them to support 8 (or 16 at max) 10G uplinks. I already used the two built-in VS-S720-10G fiber connectors for VSL links. Which Ethernet modules do you suggest to use? are there any related upgrades that I have to do?
I've Nexus 7010 switch installed in my DC. I've conncected Cisco router to one of the Ports. On the same port I'm getting following error message and hence, unable to form EIGRP neighborship.
DR-CORE-SW-S01-NEXUS7K %MODULE-2-MOD_SOMEPORTS_FAILED: Module 1 (serial: JAF*******NGK) reported failure on ports 1/2-1/2 (Ethernet) due to R2D2 : Speed patch failed - no frames transmitted in device 143 (error 0xc8f0 1273)
Any explanation regarding these different operating temperature ranges? I would think it doesn't matter the enclosure that the switch is in, it will either work or fail at a certain temperature.,-40C to +70C (Vented Enclosure Operating),-20C to +60C (Sealed Enclosure Operating), -34C to +75C (Fan or Blower equipped Enclosure Operating).
We have a nexus 5k, and it kind of got hung today... it is running. Version 5.1(3)N2(1b) the reset reason shows.Power down due to temperature sensor policy trigger. It doesn't look documented. What policy is it referring to? not sure if this is an IOS bug ?
I want to migrate a Cat 6503-E VSS to Cat 6509E VSS. We plan to use the same supervisor that we have on the Cat6503E, for minimizing the configuration change on the Doing this, the vss link will need to be changed, due to the fact that the supervisor slot will change with the Cat 6509, slot 5 instead of 1.
Question: is there a way to just change the vsl-link interface on a existing VSS ?
I have a pair of Core VSS 6509E SUP 2T. Two different LANs, two diff. Subnets. larger LAN has been connected to the VSS pair usng normal SVI and Post-Channles (has lots of closets 3750 stacks) and no problem. Second LAN, two closets, stacked and connected to each other via Port channel and trunk + SVI interfaces. Now, I have SVI interfaces for both LANs on teh VSS pair and that is causing traffic from one LAN to jump over to the other VLAN and rightly so because the VSS pair see both subnets as directly connected subnets. I was wondring if I delete the SVI for the second LAN and only keep the L2 VLAN this will be resolved> The reason for the second LAN to connect to the VSs pair is only that It has to go through the VSS pair to get to the WAN router (both LANs will go out through this Same WAN router) but WAN router is not my concern at this time. I need to isolate these two LANs/subnets traffic so no one VLAM traffic jumps over the other.I have also thought about VRF but at this point I am not sure if teh 3750 stacks supports VRF and if it does how to implement VRF on the second and samller LAN to just allow it go through the VSS pair in order to get to the WAn router.
I have a 6509E switch with dual 6Kw power supply that is logging "Power supply 1 input has changed. Power capacity adjusted to 2671.20W" then will bounce back to normal at random times from 1sec to 10sec. Is there a command to check what each input level of the power supply to try to identify possibly which source is causing the problem? The power supply input lights remains green while this is occuring.
