Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2960 When Trying To Plug IP Camera Device / It Doesn't Take Any Power
Nov 12, 2011
when am trying to plug a PC into the switch, it takes power as the switch is POE . but when trying to plug IP Camera Device it does not take any power. although i have cisco 2960 - 24 ports both PC and IP Camera getting power. while troublshooting by #show power inline , i get nothing as well.
I have a customer that has a stack of 3750x switches installed in production and now would like to install the powerstack cables. The switches are in production and downtime would like to be avoided. Can you install the powerstack cables with the switches powered up? I would assume you can, but wanted to verify before doing so.
Have Cisco catalyst 2960 IOS ver12.2(53)se2 when power on the power LED does not come up and on this is what shown on hyper terminal. what need to be done for this switch ?
Boot Sector Filesystem (bs) installed, fsid: 2 Base ethernet MAC Address: b4:d9:8d:27:4c:00 Xmodem file system is available. [code]......
Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process. Boot process failed. The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT environment variable needs to be set to a boot able image.
I got a Cisco 2960-S LAN (support PoE+) switch installed in one of my customers' office. The customer needs to plug some cameras to the switch and need inline power from the swtich.
Two of the cameras requires 24W power in order to work correctly, if just use normal PoE power, can't get all functions working and get an error message on the screen says "not enough power" or something like that. I have configured those two port to static power inline (on a max value which is 30W). Once the configuration applied, shut/ no shut the port, the error message disappeares for a few minutes, and then comes back. Looks like the power level is still on PoE not PoE+.
Is there anything I can do on the configuration to increase the inline power and provide a stable power to that kind of devices?

I have a /28 subnet between my internal and external firewalls for L3 connectivity. On our internal firewall, I have a default route for internet traffic pointing to the external firewall (10.10.1.2).
We will be inserting a web filter appliance as indicated on the diagram. The appliance requires an IP address to be assigned to the LAN interface.
What is the best way to accomplish this with minimal impact? Will my default route on my internal firewall have to change to the IP of the web appliance if I address the web appliance on the 10.10.1.x subnet?Should I address the web appliance on the 10.10.1.x subnet to begin with, or create a vlan on the 2960 and a L2 interface on one of the firewalls?
I have upgraded my C3560-PS-S switch to the latest IOS version 12(2)55-SE4 and it is not providing PoE anymore? It used to work before this upgrade? I searched Cisco bugtrack and there is bug defined for this IOS/Switch.

i have a device connected to 2960 switch. It is an access port and i could ping the device from other switches , also from outside the lan. But i am not able to ping the device from 2960 switch alone. I suspected and checked the arp table and it was showing as incomplete. I created the manual arp entry and tried pinging but no luck.
I have some 2960 switches with Lan Lite ios in my infrastructure. And I try to configure them to support "trust device cisco-phone" and "switchport priority extend cos 0" on ports with cisco phones. But LAN Lite image does not support "mls qos trust device cisco-phone".can I use any workaround to trust cos of cisco phone and to remark PC traffic with cos 0?
I have a WCG200 v1, and lately it keeps reseting, so I started thinking maybe it's a power problem. I go to unplug it, and the power plug is extremely hot, so we unplug it, and let it cool off, then plug it back in later. It works fine, and we go to bed, I wake up this morning and it's back to very hot again..
i just got a couple of these units delivered but have problem. the power supplies (j8712a) have this plastic insert key between the 3 prongs in the female connection. The cheapest nema 5-15p to iec c15 power cable I found in usA coincidentally is through hp for $23.75usd plus shipping (hp part 8121-0973): [code]
What is the correct polarity of the power input plug for vigor110 modem?I know it should be 9volts but which part of the plug should be positive? Original power supply gone missing and no indication on unit of plug setting.
All wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green

After stacking two 3750X switches, with four equal power-supply's, with StackWise and PowerStack , still got the next message every few hours %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding (gn4m-rt1p08-04-2)( note that the message revers to the second switch in the stack ) although the stackwise and powerstack on the switches is oke and are working correctly. !

Only: LMS prime /inventory/cisco-view/configure/power supply status result : some power supply's are marked as disabled.with the command > power supply 2 slot a off/on I manage to get the status back to "normal", but after a few hours some power supply's are again marked as "disabled".
We have two switches of the same model (WS-C3560-48PS-S) that are not providing PoE. I'm trying to remotely determine what the cause of the issue is.
Here is some output.

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment I am using the default configuration:
power-redudancy mode redundant
The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.
I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.
So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"
The 6500 config guide states:
"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled • System log and syslog messages are generated. • System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply. • If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."
Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?
In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.
Looking to deploy N7K-F248XP-25s in N7K-C7009s, because the cost and value are really good, however I have some 100Mbps copper connections I'll likely be stuck with for a while. So... can I plug a GLC-T into a N7K-F248XP-25 and set the speed at 100Mbps?
I have the Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router, when i hook my at&t modem to the modem port on the router the wireless portion of the router works, when i plug any pc into the Ethernet ports it doesnt work!If i plug the modem into the Ethernet port and plug other pcs into the other existing Ethernet ports it works by Ethernet but not wireless.
I have a Belkin usb adapter to pick up my wireless internet. problem is when i choose my network to connect to it constantly says "acquring network address". But as soon as i plug in an ethernet cable from the router the wireless starts working and i just unplug the ethernet cble. So why does my wireelss card depend on my ethernet conenction?
I have an existing stack of 4 x 2960-S switches connected by stack cables.I would like to add another 2960-S switch to the stack but am unable to as the 2960-S will only allow 4 x 2960-S switches per stack.how I would add the 5th 2960-S switch to the existing stack of 4 x 2960-S switches.
I have a 24 port 2960-S that is not communicating with a 2960-LST that it is directly connected to over fiber. The link is up on the LST but will not come up on the -S. What command should I use to bring up this link? I have tried no shut from the (Config-if)# prompt.
I work in IT and I'm trying to install a network camera for a client which requires power over Ethernet. How do I verify that there is not PoE available
I have a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router which is having a daily problem of connectiing to the Internet on my home wireless LAN. My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?
I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem. My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. (all connected wirelessly)
is there any way of getting the DCS-2121 cameras to register as a windows "video" device? I am running windows 7 and would like to use the remote cam as a video device in a desktop app - Microsoft OCS.
I have a Huawei 523a Router at the moment and I'm trying to setup a IP camera. The Router doesnt allow port forwarding, so my question is can I add another Router onto the Huawei router to allow the second one to work my camera
Motion detection is setup - and I can see in the log and on the Live Video "Motion Trigger Indicator" that this part is working. I can also send test-emails, so the smtp is set up correct. In the Event Setup I have a valid server and a motion triggered event with the status ON. But no emails are sent . In the log there is also no indication of the server trying. Am I missing something - or is this not working for anybody?
And - there is no firmware beyond 1.0 for this model as far as I can see.
P.S. I am using a Gmail account for smtp, port 587 and using startTLS to send with,

I am using a 3750 as a default gateway for multiple Vlans on a few 2960 switches. The trunk lines are configured and working and I have assigned ip addresses to each of the Vlan interfaces on the 3750. My issue is that I can only ping the ip address on the Vlan interface of the 3750 if I have a working computer plugged directly into the Vlan on the 3750. I only have 3 vlans on the 3750 that have hosts directly connected (vlans 2, 10 and 40) the other vlans ( 20 and 70) don't have any clients plugged into them on the 3750 but the hosts reside on 2 different 2960s that connect via trunk ports. How do I keep the vlan interface on the 3750 switch pingable when I don't have hosts directly connected in that vlan on the 3750? (yes, I have enabled ip routing on the 3750)
