I have some 2960 switches with Lan Lite ios in my infrastructure.And I try to configure them to support "trust device cisco-phone" and "switchport priority extend cos 0" on ports with cisco phones.But LAN Lite image does not support "mls qos trust device cisco-phone".can I use any workaround to trust cos of cisco phone and to remark PC traffic with cos 0?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2960 SI lan lite switch that I am configuring for admin and guest access. I have wireless AP's plugged into trunked ports 2 and 3. I am using two vlan's (in addition to the native VLAN). Vlan 5 for Admin and Vlan 10 for guest access. I have ACL configured on the router preventing guest users from accessing the Admin network. I want to prevent those on the guest network from seeing other hosts in the vlan however the lan lite software does not support port ACL's. Any way to accomplish this with this switch.

I am trying to upgrade my cisco WS 2960 24 TC-L switch with the IOS image c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin and my existing IOS image is c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin. when i am copying it to flash, it is getting copied but when i tried to boot it after entering command boot system c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin , it gave me an error.

I have the following issue; I am getting a duplex mismatch between a Cisco 2960 TT-L Switch running IOS 12.2(35) LAN Base Image (Gig0/1) and a Cisco 6506 Switch running IOS 12.2(33)SXH Adv IP Services (Gig2/19).
I have tried several combinations of the duplex/speed settings on both sides but the only that works is setting duplex/speed AUTO on the Cisco 2960 which ends up autonegotiating to HALF duplex and 100Mbps.
I'm trying to work out if I need to order the "IP services" image for a couple of C3750-X. I need to run OSPF on these switches, but find the IOS image requirements on Cisco contradict.
At the top of the data sheet it says: • Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) in IP Base image
On the product info page it says: IP Base: Enterprise Access Layer 3 Switching, including OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) for routed access
But in lots of other places it says you need 'IP services' for OSPF.
As the IP services IOS is quite a bit more expensive I would like to avoid buying it. What image do I need to run OSPF?

We will be inserting a web filter appliance as indicated on the diagram. The appliance requires an IP address to be assigned to the LAN interface.
What is the best way to accomplish this with minimal impact? Will my default route on my internal firewall have to change to the IP of the web appliance if I address the web appliance on the 10.10.1.x subnet?Should I address the web appliance on the 10.10.1.x subnet to begin with, or create a vlan on the 2960 and a L2 interface on one of the firewalls?

We're going to be switching some of our gear from Foundry to Cisco, and were looking at the WS-C2960S-48TS-L. We currently have 3 different VLAN's, and I wanted to have 1 uplink back to our firewall (ASA 5550) and then let the firewall do the routing between the subnets. I realize that 1 link will carry the traffic twice then, but is that possibly with those switches to have all three vlans assigned to one port and then just let the firewall do the routing between the vlans or would I need to have 3 uplink ports back to the 5550?

i have a device connected to 2960 switch. It is an access port and i could ping the device from other switches , also from outside the lan. But i am not able to ping the device from 2960 switch alone. I suspected and checked the arp table and it was showing as incomplete. I created the manual arp entry and tried pinging but no luck.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a question which i am unsure of, on the 6500 i know i can set mls qos trust to cos or dscp since I don't have any trunks configured on that switch that i want to trust cos most of my ports trust dscp instead. The question is will packets coming in or going out at L3 with the TOS bits set get placed in the correct in/out queue. For example if a packet comes in on a port with a mls qos trust dscp and has the TOS set to XX will this XX get mapped to the correct COS value based on the default dscp to cos map and end up going out the correct queue which handles that specific COS number?
I mainly asked this because i saw the following on the cisco site and again i am suing dscp trust and not cos.

We have QoS configured throughout the company, but the standard config we have applied across the 3750 switches only includes the below: We have IP phones (not cisco) attached that are marking with EF, and the PC is an untrusted end device (so needs to be by default marked as zero).Is the above enough to trust VOIP DSCP EF without resetting it to DSCP 0, or do I also need to add a trust line (i.e.: mls qos trust dscp)?
