View 3 RepliesI live in a condo building that uses 3 Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches connected to a Comcast router with 100 Mbps download. Currently we regulate bandwidth by providing each user with 3 Mbps download. Even if only two people are active they still only get 3 Mbps download. I would like to set it up so if two people are using they each get 50 Mbps; a sort of 'dynamic qos. Is this possible with these switches? Would we have to purchase a Cisco router in order to provide this feature?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working on setting up a template configuration for the Cisco ASA 5505 device that we'll use to configure more routers for various client needs. One of the requirements requested of me is the following: Internal hosts assigned a DHCP address are blocked from the internet Internal hosts with a static IP are permitted access to internet All internal hosts can communicate regardless of state
Now, I'm fairly new to this and I'm certain my terminology isn't correct so googling the problem has been fruitless. I have followed basic configuration guides and have configured the device to hand out DHCP addresses to hosts plugged in ports 1-7. If I'm plugged in and specify my address manually in the OS I am blocked from any access so I can only assume there is an access policy or some rule preventing me from authenticating against the router despite having set up VLAN1 to be the entire class C subnet. What sort of steps would I need to do to configure this? New access lists. For the record, the dhcp addresses are in the range of 10.100.31.64-10.100.31.95. VPN users are assigned an address from 10.100.31.220-10.100.31.240 and there seems to be no issues with that configuraiton. I don't wish to constrain what addresses a user can use should they specify a static IP (10.100.31.5 should be just as valid as 10.100.31.100).
will the AIM-COMPR2-V2 will work with the 2621xm

How can I implement this with Zone-based Firewall on my 1921?
I'm looking for something as simple as the port triggering function on a Linksys or Netgear router.
I have a Home Virgin media cable connection at home. the only way to get this working with my Cisco gear is by putting the superhub on modem mode.On modem mode, it becomes just a dumb modem assigning and IP via DHCPI can get the switch to get an IP address from the modem with
no switchport
ip address dhcp
then I have created
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 fa0/48
to route traffic to the port connected to the mode,The switch gets the assigned Ip address from the modem but it does not route internet traffic.
From the different vlans and subnets on the switch, I can ping the modem.
From the switch I can ping 8.8.8.8
From the machines, i cannot ping 8.8.8.8
On my machines, what should be the gateway? the vlan SVI, the modem's IP address, The fa0/48 ip address? I have tried them all with no success.
I have enabled IP DHCP snooping on a 24 port 3560 switch (v small office) and let the database fill up, now I have added dynamic arp inspection on the single vlan and I amd getting these errors.

Similarly I have configured static and dynamic nat but its not works in my customer place.
I have connected a 10BaseT device to a CISCO Catalyst 3560xPOE switch with dynamic port security. All seems to work fine when the distance between the two devices is closer then 200ft. When I connect to 10BaseT devices farther out near 300ft the response from the attached device is lost. It works ok on unmanaged switches at the longer distance. Is there a minimum response time from attached devices for dynamic port security to work properly? Is there any other explanation why it would work on cheaper switches, but not on the Port Secured Switch?

I do not know the concept of how to set this up. I'm currently using dynamic NAT for the web and this seems OK but I dont know how to map my fixed servers. I assume this is done with static NAT. Do I need to add sub interfaces on the S0/0 T1 interface for each of these fixed IPs? Then do I somehow do static NAT on these fixed IPs to their respective servers?

It is going into a data center and there will be no local LWAPP's.Is it still required to setup a dynamic interface on a network that will essentially only have the controller IP? Or can I serve all the AP's out of the single, untagged management interface (which I believe is also the old ap-manager interface now?)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco SG 300-20 as the core switch, layer 3. It is 192.168.4.6 on VLAN1 and 192.168.5.1 for VLAN2 (VOIP). All the ports are set in trunk mode. DHCP relay is setup on this switch.
The phones connected into a layer 2, Catalyst 2960-S switch. All ports are set in trunk mode. Default gateway on it is set to 192.168.5.1.
DHCP for both VLANs is provided by a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (the relay IP 192.168.4.15).
There is also an ASA 5510 in the mix which is 192.168.4.1. It has a route added to it for the 192.168.5.0 network to go to the SG 300 (192.168.5.1).
Just the two switches can ping each other on the 192.168.5.x network when I "add vlan 2" to the trunk port that is connected between the SG 300 and the 2960. The phones don't get DHCP on the 2960 switch. And I cannot ping 192.168.5.x from the ASA or anything else on the 192.168.4.x network.
After a bit of reading on intra-vlan routing for the SG 300 switch, I am thinking the SG 300 has to be the "center" of things so I need to make it 192.168.4.1 to be the gateway for both VLANs and change the ASA to 192.168.4.2 for VLAN1, etc. And I really can't do asymmetric routing with this switch.
I have a power conncet 6224 with routing enabled with several VLANs setup.VLAN Database: 6,8,10,90-254VLAN 6 is our management vlan10 is for our core network services (DNS, Domain, Exchange etc)90-254 are isolated vlans. What I need to accomplish is to prevent vlans 90-254 from communicating with each other and only allow communication to VLAN 10 and the internet. All internet firewall work will be handled by our Sonicwall. [code]
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up per vlan routing on a 3560G switch but it's not performing as I would expect. I've got a server on the 109 vlan with a 10.1.9.100 address and a default gateway of 10.1.9.1 this address is an HSRP gateway and currently resides on 10.1.9.7. When I traceroute through to my user PC on the internal network it receives a response from 10.1.9.7 However, it is then denied by an ACL on the internal firewall which has been applied to interface Eth0/0. It should arrive at the firewall on Eth0/2.109 as it has the 10.1.9.4 address.
My goal here is to route traffic on the 101 vlan to a seperate interface on the internal firewall from 109 vlan traffic. I'm either doing something wrong or these routing commands aren't designed to work in the way I'm expecting (I couldn't find any documentation on the ip route command where it is followed by different gateways for different vlans)
interface GigabitEthernet0/12
description Internal-FW Eth0/2
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 109

I am not sure if the issue I have is due to router's performance of my configuration. Currently I have 2621XM connected in my internal network where Fa0/1 is considered untrusted zone and Fa0/0 is considered trusted. It appears that traffic is limited to about 3.17MBps (Mega Bytes) between Fa0/0 and Fa0/1. There are ACLs on the Fa0/1 inbound and Fa0/0 inbound. I am also using ip inspect rules for the Fa0/1 outbound traffic. When I remove ip inspect policy from the Fa0/1 interface, the traffic speed bumps up to about 4.8MBps (which is about 38Mbps - Mega bits).
Each time the CPU utilization is: CPU utilization for five seconds: 99%/99%; one minute: 19%; five minutes: 4% PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process
Access to the router during that time is veerrrryyyyyy slow! Does this mean I am hitting the maximum limit this router can handle?
I've got a 2621XM that has not been used for a while.Completely stripped of any modules and configuration files, the router will continually cycle the startup process without actually booting from the IOS.
The cycle displays the following :
System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(8r) [cmong 8r], RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Copyright (c) 2003 by cisco Systems, Inc.
program load complete, entry point: 0x80008000, size: 0x10034ec
What I've tried:
1) Downloading another IOS image (c2600-is-mz.123-20.bin) via Xmodem and running "confreg 0x2102" from the rommon. All that did is change the last message to "program load complete, entry point: 0x80008000, size: 0x10fa95c"
2) Running the command "boot flash:c2600-is-mz.123-20.bin". If I enable the diagnostics via rommon, the cycle expands to:

If it wasn't for the lack of error messages, I would assume it was a hardware issue. If the image was corrupted, I would expect a message indicating that the image couldn't be read.

The problem is on one of them when I go under interface configuration and I type "no shut" nothing happens. I'm new to using Cisco Config Professional Express but a lot of things are just "off" with this utility. But my problem for this post is specifically the 891W's internal access point, or initial access to it.
My situation is that I have some 891W's. It's my first time working with them, as well as with CCP Express (2.5). After isolating the router and my PC to their own network, using the IP my PC got via DHCP frmo the router I opened a web broswer and connected to the router. The initiial configuration wizard came up and I went through the various screens. One of those screens had basic config info for the internal wireless AP which I provided. Somewhere in that screen it asked for a Hostname for the AP, and a password. It doesn't askfor a username though. To ensure I wouldn't run into confision, I made sure to set every password I ever get asked to configure as the same thing so the AP's password was also the same.
However after I finish with the wizard, the java-based CCP Express begins prompting me for first the main router credentials which I provide and it gets the router config, then it prompts mefor the username/password for the Access Point. First of all, the initial config wizard had never asked me for the username for the access point, only the hostname, and the password. I had assumed it was just going to use the main router username, or perhaps a blank username.
In any case, nothing I type ever works. I've used cisco/cisco, or a blank username with my new password, or the same username as the main router with the password ---- nothing. This is now the 4th time I have completely Reset the router to factory defaults and while I am learning the use of CCP Express through repetition, I'd also like to get this thing configured and out the door so my customer can use it.
