I have DNS setup through No-IP.com. How do I add this service provider to my WNDR3400v2 router? It only has DynDNS.org listed and I can't create a free account there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a 2600 that I have configured three sub interfaces on. FA0.0.1 is set for DHCP and supports VLAN 1. FA 0/0.2 for Voice, FA 0/0.3 for Data. I have this router interface plugged into FA 0/24 on my 3550 and the 3550 is configured as a dot1Q trunk (I have attached configs for RTR and SW).I have most ports configured as access VLAN 1 which is where i have my ISP connection plugged FA0/1 on the 3550. When I connect the service provider link FA0/0.1 never picks up an address. If I take my internal DHCP server and connect it to FA0/1 of the 3550 it snags an address almost immediately.In my mind this validates that my config is fine. I also took the same cable from the service provider cable modem and connected it to my laptop and the laptop is pulling DHCP.

We neeed to have control over what vlans we propagate over this link and we want to avoid incuring costs for every aditional vlan we might need to add to the trunk that would connect to the QinQ provider switches
Our workaround for this would be to ask the provider to give us an end to end vlan that supports MTU-1504B (QinQ frame size) and connect our switches to this.
I have a port on 7600 connecting via Single Mode Fibre to my service provider. Service provider has 1000-Full with auto-negotiate. I am seeing following output on my 7600. [code] if this interface is only capable of doing 1000Mb, how come it is showing 100-Full. If I change to nonegotiate option (both my side and provider side), link goes down. My provider has confirmed they have 1000Full their side.

My problem is that after some days (e.g. 15-20 days), the routing table suddenly stops updating & then I have to enter the default route again to make it up. I am using Track 1 to track default route here. After primary link goes down, the Track is also going down but after coming the primary link up, the track is not coming up. So, I have to add the default route again to make it up.

Connected to the 2960 are 3 firewalls/routers from other manifactors, each creating their own network. The customer wishes for a solution where each final FW/router gets minimum 33% and maximum 100% of the bandwidth, depending on how much each final Fw/router are in use.

My computer is getting ip addres 192.168.200.100 when I ping th 192.168.1.76 is fine, but when I try to ping the 192.168.1.254 does not work, Im assuming the cisco has activated a dinamic route from .76 to .254, but it is not working, why?

then I have created
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 fa0/48
to route traffic to the port connected to the mode,The switch gets the assigned Ip address from the modem but it does not route internet traffic.
From the different vlans and subnets on the switch, I can ping the modem.
From the switch I can ping 8.8.8.8
From the machines, i cannot ping 8.8.8.8
On my machines, what should be the gateway? the vlan SVI, the modem's IP address, The fa0/48 ip address? I have tried them all with no success.
I live in a condo building that uses 3 Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches connected to a Comcast router with 100 Mbps download. Currently we regulate bandwidth by providing each user with 3 Mbps download. Even if only two people are active they still only get 3 Mbps download. I would like to set it up so if two people are using they each get 50 Mbps; a sort of 'dynamic qos. Is this possible with these switches? Would we have to purchase a Cisco router in order to provide this feature?

I'm trying to set up ip sla for vrrp tracking but the commands seem gimped? I don't even have an option for ip sla <operation number>. All I've got is ip sla responder/server/key-chain.
we are in the planning phase for a network upgrade. We have two C2960 Switches connected via one (L2) Etherchannel (4x1 Gbit/s) which works very well. In the next phase we would like to upgrade our router to an 2911 series which has 3 gb interfaces. and indeed we would like to create an etherchannel as well. our plan is to use 2 of the 2911 to connect to the first 2960 switch and the one left to the other 2960. i think we will achieve some redundancy with this config.

Each router will then be connected to local networks on a second ethernet interface on the router. I have always connected routers via serial connections so this is new to me. Now, I'm fairly new to this and I'm certain my terminology isn't correct so googling the problem has been fruitless. I have followed basic configuration guides and have configured the device to hand out DHCP addresses to hosts plugged in ports 1-7. If I'm plugged in and specify my address manually in the OS I am blocked from any access so I can only assume there is an access policy or some rule preventing me from authenticating against the router despite having set up VLAN1 to be the entire class C subnet. What sort of steps would I need to do to configure this? New access lists. For the record, the dhcp addresses are in the range of 10.100.31.64-10.100.31.95. VPN users are assigned an address from 10.100.31.220-10.100.31.240 and there seems to be no issues with that configuraiton. I don't wish to constrain what addresses a user can use should they specify a static IP (10.100.31.5 should be just as valid as 10.100.31.100).
I have connected a 10BaseT device to a CISCO Catalyst 3560xPOE switch with dynamic port security. All seems to work fine when the distance between the two devices is closer then 200ft. When I connect to 10BaseT devices farther out near 300ft the response from the attached device is lost. It works ok on unmanaged switches at the longer distance. Is there a minimum response time from attached devices for dynamic port security to work properly? Is there any other explanation why it would work on cheaper switches, but not on the Port Secured Switch?

I do not know the concept of how to set this up. I'm currently using dynamic NAT for the web and this seems OK but I dont know how to map my fixed servers. I assume this is done with static NAT. Do I need to add sub interfaces on the S0/0 T1 interface for each of these fixed IPs? Then do I somehow do static NAT on these fixed IPs to their respective servers?

However we probably wont use the security.We are replacing 2811 routers.Unfortunately the 2811 routers have FXS ports with 2 - 4 POTS handsets - I completely forgot about these ports when I was ordering.Now I have VIC3-FXS cards which are ok in the 2911 but unfortunately I cant get them to work.I am missing PVDMs (well adapters anyway), and even if I got them the router wont take any commands relating to voice due to the license.Is is possible to 'rehost' the security and turn it into a UC ?I am new to these 2911 and Licensing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2911 router and a Cisco 2960 switch at a remote location.I have a user who will work out of this office a few days out of the week and will need to obtain the same IP address everytime the user visits this office. This office has no file server, no dhcp server. I have the user's MAC address and for now, the user is getting an IP address that is leased for 30 days. I'm trying to find the best way to configure either the router or switch or both so that each time this user connects to this office, that user device will always pull the same IP address and of course no other device will use that IP.
I've did some research in creating a small vlan possibly, and assigning it specifically to the port# that the user's desk is at, but not sure if that's the best way or exactly sure how it'll work. I'm currently studying for my CCNA so this is all new to me and I'm trying to do research and test without obviously causing production issues especially given this is a remote site and I access these devices via putty. I can however drive to the site if needed for testing, but I'd like to have a good grasp on what method I'll be using that will work before I actually make the trip.
The layout of the equipments are as such,other equipment <--> 2911 Router <--> Ether-Switch/3925 Router <--> 7206 <--> Internet,During certain times at night, the 2911 exhibits cpu load, high packet loss and an increase in bandwidth of at least twice it's normal amount. this results in packet loss in all the other equipment. I am attempting to locate who was demanding such a high burst but so far the graphs display normal rates for all the other equipment.Because the 2911 demands an increase from the 7206, the 7206 is able to accommodate this as it still has balance BUT my other equipment that are connected to the 7206 takes a drop in bandwidth as well. the graph shows that when the 7206 bursts higher, the rest of my other links take a slight drop in bandwidth.Also, the graph from Ether-switch to 2911 indicates the bandwidth hike BUT the graph from 2911 to ether-switch does not display the same thing as due to the cpu load, the data is somehow not captured properly.
