I am tryıng to confıgure port base Vlan on 3com S7900E switch. There are already 9 of them confıgured but one is missing and I need to add 1 more. I have done this on cisco routers but cant get my head around 3com commands.

We are trying to config vlan 10 for data and vlan 20 for voice on the same port - port 1 of swtich SF300-24P to run both data and voice on different vlans.Do I have to add vlan 10 as an untagged vlan to port 1 and add vlan 20 as an tagged vlan to port 1?If I do not want to assign the native vlan 1 to port 1, how can I remove it ? The GUI page - assign VLAN to port does not allow to remove it.Aslo, what mode shall I set up on port 1? General, trunk or access ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have hybrid network in which I want to configure VLAN on Cisco 2960 S switch. I have unmanged switch where my DHCP server and other servers are connected. Now I created two VLANs on cisco 2960S and they don't talk each other, but as soon as I connect unmanaged switch to 2960S switch, both VLANs start communicating which I don't want. I want to listen server traffic from unmanaged switch from both VLANs but simultaneously I don't want to communication between two VLANs.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm Confused from the fact that Vlan tagging is done at access port and trunk port always gets tagged packets (untill its case of native vlan).But I still believe in other fact which says tagging happen only when a frame hit the trunk port which means trunk port gets untagged frame and tagging is not possible at access port.
Would like to know where actually this tagging happens ?
and also which command we can use to encapsulate 802.1q protocol to access port ? The way we do at trunk port is #switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q Is the above command applicable for access mode also?
I have the above mentioned switch. I assisgned an IP address to the switch some time ago, but never had cause to use it (as it was purhcased as a spare).The problem I have now is that I cannot ping the device or browse to it via IE. Using hyperterminal and the CLI i have attempted to assign the same IP address, but i get a warning along the line of already assigned.I have set IP's to other 3COM model switches without problems. why I cannot ping this device or assist in connecting to it via IE?

As you can se from the picture below we are running a Cisco ASA 5505 to reach the network from the outside.But the problem is that we want to reach the virtual pfSense's subnet's through the Cisco AnyConnect VPN. And currently the pfSense's are only configured with a public ip and a virtual interface to the VM's.could solve this problem by buying another PCI NIC, so that we have a physical link from the "pfSense box" to a tagged VLAN on the switch.But we are having problems configuring the switch to general vlan's. Cause Xen can't have it's management interface on a tagged VLAN directly from the XenServer,but the switch can tag the packet when it reaches the switchport. I would like to have "switch port general allowed vlan 2" for admin and 10 for "LAN"And then trunk the port to the Cisco ASA. But again, Xen stops me from doing this.

I am working on ASA 5505 with Base License that uses 3 VLAN's.
-My VLAN 1 is for used for my home network.
-VLAN 2 is connected to the public Internet and my IP gets assigned by ISP dynamically.
-VLAN 3 is DMZ where I will have few VM's that would need access to and from the Internet.
I am looking to work with following:
1) 172.16.0.2 that sits on DMZ will need to access public Internet over port 80
2) Permit access from the Internet over port 3389 to 172.16.0.2
3) Permit any host on private VLAN (192.168.0.0 network) to access 172.16.0.2 over the port 3389
4) Permit second VM on the DMZ VLAN let say 172.16.0.3 to access public Internet on all ports. Access in to this host is not permitted.
5) For some reason DHCP hosts are NOT getting DNS (8.8.8.8) entry when IP hets assigned or renew. I have a statements below but it is not working.
Also, if ACL rules for VoIP are written correctly. The goal is to permit these ports (SIP related) to access VoIP router. [code]

Switch IP = 10.1.2.3, GW = 10.1.2.1, Subnet = 255.255.255.0
DHCP addresses would be 192.168.1.1 - 200, GW=???? (10.1.2.3?) and subnet would be 255.255.255.0

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a switch layer 6500 series connected to a firewall, the port configuration between them is layer 2, in another words I do not configure an IP address in the Cisco switch port to conected it in the firewall, but when a apply a policy on firewall it lose communication with others vlans, just the vlan that is connected between the switch and firewall works, attachment the design. I think that is necessary to configure the connection between the firewall and switch as layer 3 ( a port with IP address in the switch), but I would like to know why? The switch is configured with about 10 vlan and it is a inter vlan routing, a default route is configured in the switch where the gateway is the firewall.

The channel-group 2 mode active commande is not taking then its showing the error protocol mismatch and if i run show int port-channel 2 command the port channel status is showing down. The Dell server switch is on simple mode. below i have attached the required details.

I would like to use my new EA6500 as the base station and another wireless router with Wireless Repeating Function as a repeater. Is the EA6500 capable of that?? I have not found any documentation on that subject.
