View 2 Replies View RelatedI am renovation my own house, and I have started to hard wire for the network/s, but I am also trying to incorporate so much more than any previous “wireless” setup I have had, well I am a bit confused to say the least.I would like to set up a home network and media server system which includes:Internet browsing (multiple rooms and wireless) File sharing, printer sharing, scanner etc Music/Video sharing/streaming, TV etc.I have started wiring (we are renovating) with Cat5e, and have just replaced the old POTS (telephone) wiring with Cat5e and taken the individual telephone wires (including the incoming telephone cable) back to one central connection unit in a network patch panel. This has improved the speed of my DSL download connection speed from 1.2mbs to 6.2mbs. unreal!, so that did get me a bit fired up!I am currently wiring data points (Cat5es from each room) back to the same panel, but to be honest I am not really sure where to go from there! Also, I have wired Sat cables back to this point ready to be connected to sat TV (dish) in case if we get it. This patch panel is in a small passageway that goes through to the garage from the house. It is conveniently located next to the mains board which I have just replaced. My original idea was to put any extra needed equipment in the same location, but looking at it, I think that I may have to think again, for there is little room. I have found a small alcove in the upstairs games room which has a shelf, and which could take any hardware, also it will be dust free (unlike the place leading to the garage). I can run as many cables as needed from this location to the patch panel, but obviously I would like to know how many, as I am not familiar with networking on this scale, my only other experience being wireless setups. For example, would the switch need to be located where the patch panel is, or else can it be on the shelf with the other stuff? (away from the panel), and the existing D-link 4 port router?? is this no longer required?Im presuming i will need an old PC or some sort of media storage device here too... no ideas with this either. Have tried asking three different computer stores, got three different answers...?!
Have I dropped a clanger wiring to the passageway, when infact any server/switch or whatever wont be in the same location? Also, I am planning on getting a MAC book, and would like to use this on the system sometimes (might not be relevant), just thought to mention. And, I was thinking of trying Linux, as I am fed up with all the windows problems. But not sure if that is a good idea either. We have TVs in the (when its finished) media room, also three other areas, which I would like to get connected so that they will be able to get either TV or watch a film from storage wow this is getting complicated and if it matters I do have a PS3, which we only really bought to use as a TV storage system/recorder.
I have tried numerous times to install the disk and the adapter, but it always says it cannot locate the adapter. I know that the ports (I have tried them all) are working properly because they have been in use. I tried the chat. He suggested I call the 1-800 number. I don't have time to wait on hold forever, which I did anyway until I finally hung up.

But I want to use in the same main office to avoid more bandwidth utilization on my distribution layer. Wlc is connected on Distribution switch.I want to do local switching in the access layer switch.
The below is the sample topology. But real topology contains nearly 200 AP's(3600 series) and 20 access switches and so on.....So there is a chance of 200 AP * 350 Mbps can flow on the distribution layer. So ,
1)If I use flexconnect any issues will be occuring?
2)Does it cause any impact on VOWLAN?

I am having difficulty getting my HP Officejet Pro 8500(A910) configured to save digital faxes to my Iomega 2TB Home Media Sever (cloud edition). My home network is setup through a Linksys E4200.I was able to successfully configure it to save to a folder on my PC, but I do not want to leave it running 24/7.I believe the breakdown is in the Authentication part of the setup... It asks for the Windows username and password, which works fine for the PC setup but not for anywhere else. Do I use the UN & PW for the home media server if I'm saving to one of its folders? If so, how do I correctly type the path? It is communicating with the folder and leaving an alphanumeric file saved inside the folder when I use the 'save and test' option, but it breaks down from there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have an Asterisk/FreePBX phone system located behind an ASA 5505 device where we are having problems with sip inspection.
We connect to three different phone providers, and things works as expected for 2 of the 3 providers, but for the last one (Draytel) we are having problems with sip inspection.
The key difference about the VoIP provider where we are having problems is that they are using differetn servers for the voice (RTP) traffic than the server we are registered with to establish SIP sessions.
sip inspection is configured with the default out of the box options. The problems we see are this:
1. For ingoing calls sip inspection does not open the required pinhole to allow the traffic to flow through. As a result we can not hear the voice of the calling party, but voice from our side is passed through ok.As a workaround we have added and ACE allowing traffic in the used UDP (RTP) range from this VoIP providers ip addresses to pass through the ASA, and with that in place incoming calls work.
2. Outgoing calls doesn't work because sip inspection doesn't kick in, and as a result of this we forward internal ip addresses in the SIP / SDP body to the VoIP provider. I'm not sure whether this is a consequence of sip inspection not kicking in for this provider, or a result of having added the ACE for an ip ragnge that covers the ip address we register with.
As stated above sip inspection does work as expected for two other providers where all traffic goes through a single server. We actually have had this working with ASA firmware 7.2(4), but as that version intermittently had a problem where sip inspection would stop working (fixable by power off/on or a clear command), then we decided to upgrade.

I just bought the e1000 router today and I'm already having trouble. I got it setup the first time and all my computers set up with it and it works fine for internet. Everything is snappy and responsive and I don't have any of the problems I did with my old belkin. However, I am unable to connect to the router using cisco connect or the web interface. I need to forward ports, configure wireless security, etc etc. All I did was disable the guest account through cisco connect, and then when the software just sat there doing nothing with the spinning circle in the middle, I opened task manager and killed the process to get it to go away. Now I can't connect using either cisco connect or the web interface.

Then I turn on the Access Control settings on my (NETGEAR) router and put my laptop into the trusted wireless stations list, now it can connect to Internet for 1 min and fails however it works for another 1 min if i reconnect to the router. So now I need to reconnect to the router every minute or so.I can connect to the Internet via Ethernet cables, so I am quite sure it's the wireless problem on my router but not the service provider's fault.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOne day I got a blue screen saying there was a hardware or driver failure with the network adapter on the motherboard. I couldn't resolve the problem so I went out and got a new network adaptor. Pluged it in, windows found drivers for it. But I was getting a Unidentified network problem.I have a Linksys E1000 router, internet works on my laptop and xbox360 fine wired and wireless. So I changed ports on the router, changed cables, even changed routers. Still the PC wasn't seeing the router. So I download the latest drivers for the Realtek network adapter, install them, still nothing. So I thought maybe the router is to blame, downloaded the latest firmware and flashed it onto the router, reset it. Still the same. At this point I was sure the new network card was faulty. So I took the computer to the shop where i bought the card. He disabled the old network adapter in the bios. And he had the Internet up and running in the shop. I was happy and took it home... Still the same problem! Rang ISP done a lot of disabling, enabling, static IP no fix... except he told me to bypass the router and try plugging the PC directly to the modem, and that connects fine. I can get internet from the modem, but not through the router, yet everything else works fine though the router. As I said cables and ports in the router have all been changed and checked. When I do the network diagnostics in windows 7 is says, does not have a valid IP configuration.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI bought a Cisco-Linksys E3200 8 months ago and it worked well until last month. I usually power down the router after midnight & power up in the morning and evevry time it can connect to internet through DSL modem without problem until this Feb. Most of the time after powering up the router it just can't connect to internet anymore. I am sure the AT&T DSL modem is working. I have to reboot/reset the router & DSL modem several time to get router to connect to internet again. The order of resetting/rebooting DSL modem & E3200 router seems to make no difference. It just appears suddenly the router can connect to internet by chance. I changed router IP and it didn't work either. It's really annoying becuase I have to spend 10~40 minutes to resetting/rebooting DSL modem & router to get internet connection every day.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFSR41 v2.1 wired router which was put aside when replaced with a wireless router. Today I wanted to hook it up and use it again, however my computer was not automatically assigned a connection, and I didn't remember how I last had it set up, so I simply reset the router and tried again.
Since the reset, I have not been able to get a connection to the router from any computer using any port or any cable. The LED lights for ports 1-4 do not light up, and setting a static IP address still does not permit me to connect or even ping the router.
The LEDs light up as normal and go through the patterns during the boot-up process. Once that is finished, all LEDs are off apart from the power light (which is steady). If I plug in the modem to the WAN port, the links light is solid and the Act LED blinks. A loopback connection between ports cause the LEDs to light up fine (tried all port combinations).
If I unplug the power, hold the reset button 15 seconds, then power it back on, plug a connection in from my secondary router to the WAN port, the router shows up in the Active Clients list, but I cannot connect to the IP listed, even if manually associating the IP with the MAC address listed..
Because of all this, I can't re-flash the firmware even using the tftp method, since it fails to connect to the IP address in the first place.
What I have tried so far:
- 30/30/30 reset (multiple times)
- manually setting static IP 192.168.1.100 with gateway 192.168.1.1
- manually associating the ip 192.168.1.1 with the mac address of the router with netsh
My wrt120n router wont connect my ps3, it was working fine, now it dosnt send out a signal, but my computer is wired and works fine. I tried reseting it and leaveing it and the modem unplugged for awhile but didnt work.

This is my setup:
1. WNDR-3700 Router on main floor
- TV is hooked up router (internet tv)
- VOIP modem hooked up to router
- USB drive hooked up to router for transferring files from computers upstairs to router USB driver
So basically, the router MUST stay where it is. I'm wondering if it's possible to WIRELESS-LY connect my WNDR-3700 router to another BELKIN wireless router. possible at all?
I have a "normal" router powering my home wireless network and everything is just fine. However, there are some devices that I want to run exclusively over a VPN, but they do not support VPN applications. I understand that there are some VPN routers available that have the VPN support built-in at the firmware level (Buffalo AirStation WZR-HP-AG300H). This is exactly what I need, but I don't want to run my entire home network through the VPN, only certain devices. So, can I do something as simple as connect my VPN router directly to the "normal" router and effectively run two different wireless networks in the house?Would daisy chaining the routers in this way interfere with the VPN tunneling ability?

I've also tried using the Wireless Zero Config. and nothing happens either. I'm directly connected to the modem right now so I know the modem and router work as I have also connected to it with another laptop. I originally thought that it had something to do with this hpsetup network that my wireless card kept connecting to automatically. I couldn't find any online info about how to get rid of it permanently but after I changed the settings to "only connect to access point networks", my laptop has stopped connecting to it automatically. I can't figure out what exactly is wrong.
