I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. Desktop is running Vista. Printer is set to share and connected to Vista machine. Printer and file sharing is enabled on both machines. Running Windows firewall on both machines. Disabled Comodo firewall on Vista machine. Both computers have the same workgroup. Both computers have the same user name and password. Password protected sharing is turned off both machinesVista can access the W7 machine, last night W7 could see but not access Vista, but it doesn't even see it. When I troubleshoot I get a message "file and print sharing resource (Vista PC name) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts".
I just installed Win 7 pro 64 bit on a new computer / hard drive. I can connect to my router which is hardwired to a computer running Win XP Pro 32 bit, but I can't figure out how to connect to my printer which is on that same network. I can access the internet, just not the printer - which is connected via Ethernet to the router.Is is possible that because Win7 is 64bit and the other computers on the network are 32 bit running XPpro - that it won't work? I have another XP pro computer that is connected via wireless that accesses the printer just fine.I have a netgear USB adapter on both the WinXP computer and also the Win7.Win7 is foreign to me. I have decided to set up a simple network at my home. I have got 2 PC's (one ground floor, one up staris), printer, TV and router.Now, my router has got only 4 sockets for RJ45 (no usb connection available). I thought I could by external hard drive because it is cheaper than network, and connect it together with my printer to this NAS and then NAS to router. Will I loose file transfer speed?

I recently purchased a HP PHOTOSMART D110 wireless/eprint all in one. I have the dir-615 router and cannot get the printer to show up on my home network.Printer works fine hard wired to pc but wireless not at all. The ip address of the printer is 169.254.147.xx while everything on my network is 192.168.0.xx. Printer says connected for a few seconds then disconnected....I have tried to configure it on a vista and a win 7 machine.Everything else shows up fine on my network, as a matter of fact a friend brought his laptop over and it connected great..

I am currently having a problem connecting a hardlined (ethernet connected) PC to a wireless printer. I want to know first of all if this is even possible. If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows: a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
I have a home network with an older desktop, two laptops, couple of PDA and now a cellphone. I'm using using a WRT 110 router I bought new a couple of years ago. It run flawlessly even when I switch from DSL to Comcast Internet.My printer (HP All-in-one) is currently attached to the rear of my desktop and if I want to print anything I have to fire up the desktop. Can I plug the printer in the WRT 110? Be able to print form my laptops?
My setup: Windows 7 desktop; Vista laptop. Only one user account on each, with no password.I can share files between the two computers, but only by putting the shared files in the Public folders, otherwise access is denied based on username and password.It is inconvenient, but I can live with sharing files through the Public access.However, a printer connected via USB to the desktop cannot be seen from the laptop. This desktop is new. It replaced an XP desktop on which file and printer sharing worked easily with the same network.
My Wifi network has a wpa2 password that is a random string of characters and numbers and yet last month a rogue IP Address kept popping up on my DNS list. It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great.There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again
when I try to connect my wireless printer, it is asking for the IP address. I type in the same addres that is on my computer, but I get message says computer does not recongize network printer. So I trid two other addresses and those did not work. I am conufsed. How do I knw what address to type in?
I've got a wireless N home network set up. My wifes PC is connected directly to the cable modem, and our Epson usb printer is connected to her pc. My Toshiba laptop is using a wireless connection. I can see her pc on the network, but cannot see or connect to the printer over the network. Her PC is running Windows 7, mine is running Windows 8 Pro. I was able to print on this printer with my previous pc, which ran Windows 7
I had to replace my wireless router and when I try to reconnect my printer this is what I get: Your wireless router requires a WEP security key. The security key configured on your printer does not match exactly. Reconfigure your wireless network WEP security key for your printer. Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer is using IP address 169.254.xx.xxx which is not compatible with the IP address 192.16x.x.x of the pc.I had to changed the WEP security key I used on the old router as the orginal security key had been used by someone without permission. Before this I had no problems using the printer on my old routerI have tried turning everything off and unplugging it but that does not work, I tried resetting the wireless settings on the printer, yet that did not work. I am using Windows Vista service pack 2 on a Compaq Presario laptop, the wireless router is a Netgear N600, and the printer is an HP Photosmart C4740.

We have 2 computers the main one running OS XP and mine running Vista. Previously, we had no problems with my computer finding the main on the network along with the printer. But now the main computer can see mine (printer and PC) but I cannot connect to the main. Mine does not see the printer nor the PC. We are both running the same virus protection, which is Norton. I really want to use the main computer's printer, which I was able to do until for some reason now I go into networking and it is not there. I know it is marked as shared. When I go into setup network printer and type the name of the printer a window pops up "The printer sever spooling service is not available". I have uninstalled the printer software and drivers and reinstalled but still not showing up on the network? When I click print a document the printer I am looking for is there but it shows as offline, which it is not. I am not 100% sure but seemed to occur when we switched from Mckfee to Norton?
I have an HP 7310 Series SAll-in-One printer which is currently hooked up to a windows XP based computer via USB. I would like to connect the printer to my network instead, and would like to know which steps to take. Should I uninstall the software from the computer and start from fresh, or is there another way. Camera set up with the Beta Mac wizard connected via ethernet on Airport base. Wireless security WPA2 Personal. Using DHCP. AirPort Utility 5.5.2, OSX 10.6.6.I can see the cam with the myDlink Lite iPhone (4) App when I am in my house with my wireless network. When I am out, away from my network, the App can't connect to the cam, tells me to check my network settings. I did the wps way and added the cam in the airport base utility *Access Control* tab but still doesn't work. Checked in the cam web page settings, can't figure out what the Pre-Shared Key is and where I get it/set it up in the airport utility...
I would like to print to my HP LaserJet 5000 through my WiFi. The printer however does not have WiFi only an RJ45 jack. I bought a TP-Link WR541G router to use as a bridge. My current router is a 2Wire which I get my WiFi from.I cannot physically connect the printer as the location of the 2-Wire to printer is across my home. The printer does not have wifi. how can I connect the printer to the network once it is in another room? I have an older belkin n1 vision wifi router I am not using. Can I connect this wirelessly to the existing network and then plug a cat 5 cable from the belkin to the printer?

There's a Canon LBP 3500 printer on my office network.I don't know its IP.It doesn't show up when I scan the local subnet with nmap.I cannot find the manual (hardcopy or online).It is plugged into the network.It is turned on.I have turned it off and on again.I have tried plugging it into other ports on our switch.
I have downloaded the installation data "R147095 Dell Wireless Printer Adaptor 3300 Installation Set-UP.exe". Saved that to a new CD and loaded it to my PC. I get through most of the setup wizard but always fail at the same point - The adapter will not connect to the network. All the usual checks are positive and the network key is correct and in the appropriate case. I have run Driver Detective and that confirms that the drivers for the adapter are up to date. The printer is not yet installed on the PC and the software for it has not been loaded.
I have tried this procedure again on a second PC where the printer had been used as a wired slave printer but have uninstalled the printer first. Same result - Adapter fails to connect to the network.
Router is a Billion Bipac 7800 n. I can get other "newer" devices to connect without problems but this "old" adaptor is proving stubborn.
