My small network is connected to a large private network through a small 8 ports router with some management such as NAT, routing table, etc. In this small network I have a network printer/scanner. How can I access IT from the WAN side.
View 4 RepliesI used a Belkin router for internet connection and connected to printer via ethernet cable. Belkin had frequent disconnects to internet, so I decided to use my D-Link DIR-655 router from another home. While it works well for internet, it will no longer connect with my printer, either via ethernet or wirelessly. I must carry my laptops to the printer and us a USB cable to get printouts. I am planning on moving to a Verizon 'hot-spot' and eliminate the routers completely soon and will maybe have this same issue. How can I resolve this matter?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to connect my downstairs PC (No wireless Card) to my upstairs Wi-Fi printer through my Wi-Fi router and have not been able to do it, even after reading and resetting my printer's network card as directed by Brother's tech support 4 times.Actually, that's not true once I WAS able to access the printer's online Interface and change a few settings, but when it came time to submit my settings, everything just froze and I wasn't able to access the interface afterwards. (see my setup below) Here's the result of the first attempts (Node Type and IP Address are NOT good)IP range NOT good 169.254.x.x .Second and temporarily successful attempt (Node Type and IP Address are good) IP Range IS good 192.168.x.x.I know it would be easier to simply buy a Wi-Fi network card for my PC but I would rather learn how to do this manually.

Right now it is only connected to the iMac via a USB connection as all 3 (router, iMac and printer) are on the same workstation.how to connect the printer so it could also support the 2nd computer a Windows PC which is located on the floor below. Can I do that through the wired router too? View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my HP C6200 printer to a Linksys WRT54g v2.2 router I've set up to be in client mode with a Netgear N300 WNR2000 v2 router used as the main broadcasting router. I can't seem to get the printer to be seen when the laptop is connected wirelessly to the Netgear.
I have no problems accessing the internet with my laptop plugged into the client router so I know that is communicating with the Netgear. I have no problems pinging the printer from the client router and toggling settings, getting info, etc. I have no problems pinging the Netgear either.
When I go to connect wirelessly to the Netgear I get a message that the printer has been disconnected and I can no longer print test pages or ping the printer.
Is it possible to get this working or have I overlooked one or more settings?
Can you connest and use a USB printer with the USB port on an E-3000 wireless router ? If so, what is the set-up procedure ?

I am on a macbook pro running OSX 10.7.4 and my verison of Cisco Connect is 1.4 (12005.2). My router's firmware version is 1.0.30.126544. A screenshot of what I see after clicking "add a device" in Cisco Connect is below. The printer is an HP DeskJet F4280.

The printer sees the belkin wireless router network name but cannot connect to it( after entering the correct security key). It worked fine with a previous wireless router. My desktop PC is connected to the belkin router via direct ethernet, and I want to be able to access my wireless printer which is located in another room from my PC. I think I remember reading that the canon mg5220 may not support WPA2 security, but Its only a year old and would prefer not to regonfigure my router's security setting. how I can get this printer to connect to my router? View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Windows 7 system and a Cisco E4200 router. Previously, I had an old Linksys WRT54GS router with an HP 1022NW connected to the network. The HP printer has worked flawlessly all these years and did not even hiccup when Windows 7 came into play. But as soon as I changed out my router, the trouble started. I cannot for the life of me get these two devices to connect.Is the HP1022NW even compatible with the E4200 router when using wireless connections? I know you are supposed to match the settings, but the encryption types are different For example, the default router settings are mixed WPA/WPA2. Previously I had WPA-PSK, which is not an option on this new router. I have followed every instruction I can find in manuals and online to get the wireless connection working, but it either fails the installation, or it latches onto my neighbor's wireless signal, which is not nearly as strong as mine. I believe he has his router set to WEP, which seems to point to the encryption question above. Short of connecting this as a hard wired printer, is there any chance I can get this to work? I have tried resetting it to factory conditions and even that does not work.

But the Linksys router does not support selecting TKIP.I am not to the point that I can connect a computer (via wireless) to the printer. I tried to force pair the iPhone by turning off Data Connection, which usually forces the WiFi, which it did, but then when I went to a webpage it wouldn't load even though wifi was showing full signals.I then booted up my lenovo laptop, and it connected to the internet and worked like a charm. Then my iPhone4s started working again. Why not now finally set up the wireless aspects of my HP B209 that I've never used, so I can print from my laptop wirelessly, which I've always wanted to do.So I was able to setup the printer after adding the MAC address of the printer to my belkin router by going to the IP address for the router and adding that specific address, I changed NOTHING ELSE.Internet on laptop not working now. It shows my wireless network with full bars in range, but when I go to connect it simply says it cannot connect, right away. I check my phone, wireless GONE again! I tried to force pair the phone, no dice. I "forget the network" on my phone, it still shows available, I connect put in my password and it immediately denies me, I tried un-plugging the router, restarting all computers, un-plugging router -and- restaring all computers, turning off the printer, repeating all previous steps, and finally I went and deleted the MAC address I added to the router, and all of the above did nothing to fix the solution.

I am using WPA for security. I can connect to the printer wirelessly through my neighbor's open system so it has something to do with security I suspect. I have enabled the AP feature and disabled it to see if that is an issue. That has not changed anything. Can I use a USB hub to connect NAS ~and~ a USB printer to the single USB port?
I have had the E4200 for a while with a Brother MFC-J615W printer. I have been having problems keeping the connection between my laptop(HP) and the printer ever since I switched to this router. The only thing that works is completely reinstalling the driver, and then it is touchy when searching the network for the printer. The port and IP address for my printer match, and when I tried pinging my printer, I do not have any success. My laptop registers the printer as offline, as does the router when I go into the devices on the router(via mylocalrouter). To spot check the issue, I have switched the router back to my old one(Belkin) and the printer works flawlessly. I have always been able to connect the printer to the network without any problems, but my laptop and router dont recognize it.

I plug the Ethernet cable into both to configure the printer and I cannot access the printer via its IP address. I suspect the printer is reporting the wrong IP address or it the IP is not being assigned by the router or it is being blocked by the router. Routers firewall is off. I use the Samsung software and it does not see the printer either. It seems the router is not seeing the printer or allowing it access to the network. Spent much time with a good Samsung support person and tried everything and narrowed the problem down to the router connection. Is there a setting on the router which needs to be changed to allow me to see the printer to configure it for wireless access?
