D-Link DCS Network Camera :: 920 Unable To Stream Video
Jun 17, 2010
I recently bought 3 DCS-920 to monitor my home while at the office. However I can't seem to get the damned things to stream video using the dyndns service. I linked my router to the dyndns account and host service. I portforward the ports my cameras are assigned. Up to this point its all good, I can access the cameras and their settings pages while outside. However both the Java and ActiveX options for video streaming do not work. Even within the network, using their raw IPs to view the cameras the videos stream works. But putting in the hostname and port they are assigned brings up the camera page, but no video.I can only assume the ports the video and audio run on are seperate, as when I put one camera's IP in the DMZ host on my router, it works with the DNS. Unforunately I can only do that with 1, and I'd rather not do that at all.

Using as AP. Last Tuesday in the middle of a Netflix movie the video stopped. Now the wireless portion of the DAP-1522 refuses to pass any type of video. Everything else works (email, Google, Facebook, etc.). I can get to Netflix, Youtube, Yahoo, etc. .....but none of them will pass video.
Using a direct wired connection to the DAP-1522 everything works. Netflix, Youtube, etc.
Download speed checks at 17.74mbps.

When accessing the camera on mydlink, or on a browser using http://x.x.x.x/mjpg.cgi, I would expect the net bit rate to be substantially less than for a sequence of jpg's, since true motion-jpg uses a lossy form of intraframe compression typically yielding a 20:1 data reduction (according to wikipedia). Indeed, I can readily see this reduction in mjpg clips made on my Canon S5is camera. It's not clear whether that is happening with the d-link DCS-930L camera (640x480, quality "high", java).

The DCS-930L provides no date & time on video stream at mydlink, but does display those when accessing on the LAN. Is there a way to force the date/time tag to show over the web? Otherwise, remote recording might not know when an event happened?

This causes massive 3G data to be used. If you don't close the app first it just keeps streaming and eating data + battery. This data screen cap is for 10 minutes after locking the phone with the app open. When the phone locks, the app should kill the video streaming.

way for one to view a camera stream without a username and pass? We are upgrading from older dlink cameras, I don't have the model handy. Previously we could just use the applet and it would display, I copied the applet from the new one but it requires a login to view.

I'm trying to programatically access the MJPG stream from my DCS-930L camera from outside of the DLINK software. Any correct URL for MJPG? Is there any way to view the website contents from this camera so I can hunt this down, or any technical documentation on it?

Just got this & set it up today. Wanted to buy a couple more in the next few days; but wanted to test out the D-Viewcam service. The application (D-Viewcam) is not able to find my camera.I have 'ticked' the uPNP & the forward; tried to disable it as well. No luck.
Camera 942l is on ver 1.1
D-Viewcam = v 3.2
Both reside on the same LAN
I'm able to view the camera on the browser. And on my phone.

I asked a question recently about accessing camera via a smartphone but I realize that's not really the correct question. The smartphone works fine locally with wifi and has a browser available.
The real question I have is what is the easiest way to access any camera via a browser from a remote location. Years ago tech friend assisted me access my DCS-910 using dyndns.org. It was free and worked great. I guess it went away when they started charging for a basic account.
Is there an easy way to access a camera without using dyndns even if it involves putting in an IP address instead of a convenient domain name? I would just like to see at least one of my cameras in a browser off-site. If I have to pay $20/year for dyndns I can but I would prefer not to if possible.

I think there is a problem with the settings on my router or something like that. When I watch videos on streaming sites the load bar tends to go up but only so far before freezing. If you slide the button along once the umbrella spinny thing gets going then the load bar will kick back into life again for a few seconds before freezing! The problem also effects downloads. Anything that takes longer the 5 or 10 seconds will fail. This has stopped me downloading simple things such as iplayer and flash updates. I know its not a problem with my computer as it effects all the machines that pass through the house. Were currently getting Virgin wireless broadband (so I dont think its a speed issue).A tecky friend of mine thinks it might be something to do with the 'packets' of information or the channel that my router is operating on

I posted this on a previous thread along with another question, but since I marked that as answered I'll post it here so people will see it.Is there any way I can use UPnP WITHOUT having to have the videos I want to stream in my WMP library? Windows Media Player has always been a pain for me, from my videos not showing up in the library when I know they're there to not being able to switch audio streams in a video. (If VLC Media Player or iTunes had a UPnP library.

I have the WAP4410n connected to a SLM2008. I tried to change to 100Mb the port in the switch but then I lost the connectivity.
But it's a giga port and it must work as a giga port. The new firmware must resolve the problem, and not to be a work around. Or what will be the next, not to use N, only G, or only 20MHz or...
I need the WAP4410n for streaming audio and video?

I've been viewing some videos streamed through the EA6500 from a Qnap 419p II NAS, and several video files are playing back extremely choppy.I can confirm that the video files play fine on the Xbox360 using a USB key and have also previously streamed these videos without any problems using a Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (that I upgraded from) streamed from the same NAS.I've attempted to configure the Media Prioritization feature, but haven't noticed any different results. I have also adjusted other various settings that haven't affected the playback in any way.
My only guess is that some of the files are encoded in a format that the router is struggling with - the video files are not HD videos, and their bitrates are generally quite low - if my old Belkin router can do it, the EA6500 shouldn't have any problems either.

Setup my DCS-930L for DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name Server) so I can access the DCS-930L via the Internet (couldn't access the camera half the the time while on vacation using mydlink) and can now access the camera using my laptop, Android Thrive, and Motorola Droid 3 via the URL I've created but can only see the video when using the laptop.
I have the DCS-930L set to Java but when I log into the camera with the Thrive or Droid 3 (both Android devices) I don't get video. I can make changes to the camera settings and everything else you can do when logged into the camera but just can't see the video. If I change the 'View Mode' in the video setup to 'Image', I will get a picture on all three devices (Thrive, Droid 3, and laptop). What do I need on the Droid 3 & Thrive so I can see the video when I log into the DCS-930L with an Android device?

I'd had my camera offline for the last couple of months, and in the interim I've upgraded both my main pc and the wireless router. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on the pc, and the router is a netgear gigabit dual band wired/wireless. When running through the camera setup I am not able to get setup to find the camera, whether wired or wireless. I know that the camera's online as it shows in the routers device table, and I'm able to access the camera with my browser. However, the failed setup prevents my registering the camera on MyDlink. Any thoughts? Should I be looking at the ports on the router in regard to the camera's IP?My goal is to be able to remotely monitor my home, which the MyDlink service seemed to offer. Based on what I've read, it appears there are other ways to achieve my goal, but I would like to figure out the install problem.

I have a customer with a Cisco ASA 5510 firewall, an inside network containing a Genetec video recording server, and cameras installed on broadband modems throughout the area (each with a public IP). They've recently purchased Axis Q6034-E cameras that use H.264 to stream back to the video recording server. The camera has a view mode where you can watch it through H.264 or Motion JPEG. The view with M-JPEG works, but when I switch to H.264 the video stream is denied. We have allowed RTSP, RTP, and HTTP (it's setup with only http, not 443)traffic from the camera address on the cable company public network but are still being denied the video stream. The recording software requires that the feed come from the H.264 feed, so the motion jpeg does not fix the underlying issue of being able to record.
We know it's the firewall because if we install the camera on the inside network, the video feed in H.264 works to the recorder.
How to enable something special on the firewall to allow traffic through from the device?

I seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.
So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?

I connected my camera to my router with a network cable. It is a DCS-2121, H/W Ver A2, with firmware 1.04_FR.It received an IP address and I could access it fine with a web browser. Then I configured it to work wireless.I disconnected the cable but the camera wasn't accessible.Since I couldn't find it I re-attached it with a network cable, but this didn't work.So I pressed the Reset button to start over again. However, now I cannot get it to work anymore. When I plug in the camera and have it connected with a network cable to the router the status light remains RED.When I plug it in without a network cable the status led remains RED.When I connect it with a network cable to a computer directly, the status led remains RED.I've tried changing the network settings of my router to use 192.168.0.x as range, but it makes no difference. In all cases the status indicator remains RED.

I have a new apple airport extreme wireless router and have done all the port forwarding and gave the camera a static address and cannot view my camera outside my network. I also have done the dyndns service also. I will note if I change the http port in the camera settings to say 82 I get a black screen and cannot view my camera till I switch back to port 80. Reason why I want to do this is I need to view my camera for more then 60 seconds.

My Dlink DCS-930 camera won't work over 3G. It works fine on my home WiFi network. When on 3G it shows the camera, click it, tries to connect but just keep saying connection timeout.
It used to work over 3G fine, nothing has changed to my network. I've rebooted the camera and router numerous times, it has the latest firmware, but still won't work. I'm logged into my dlink account fine. I have an Apple Time Capsule.

I have a camera set up in my kitchen and it works and I can view it in our house, on other computers or my iphone. But I can't view it from my work or anywhere outside our wireless range. It is a DCS-920. I have opened port 80, and checked it with a port checker and it says its open. I have bell as a provider with a 2 wire 2701hg-g modem.I read on here about someone else not having a gateway address or primary DNS. I don't know what to put in there. My camera address is 192.168.2.20.

I am currently wirelessly streaming BR rip movies from my PC tower to a PS3. I have a gigabit connection from the PC to the router (D-Link DIR-825) which is broadcasting (5Ghz 'N') to a D-Link DAP-1522 bridge. Gigabit connection from the bridge to the PS3. The router is reporting a 70-75% connection with 240mbps, although I am realistic and don't expect that. I had been ripping and compressing my BR movies to 4-8GB. I had never noticed any trouble with these because my network can easily handle the additional traffic if it had been doubling or tripling these. I recently purchased a 2TB HDD and decided to just rip and not compress a few of my favorites. So now instead of a 3-10Mbps stream I have 15-45Mbps streams. I am ripping them straight to an .m2ts container (AVC/AC3) when the original video codec is AVC and converting to .mp4 (AVC/AAC) with Ripbot if the original codec is VC-1. Neither container makes a difference.
What's happening is that when I stream these uncompressed BRs, the picture and audio stutter and jump (indicating a bit-starved network connection). When I check the bitrate reported by the PS3, it is showing 80-150Mbps. I have run these video files through Bitrate Viewer just to be sure, and they are all running at normal bitrates, i.e. <50Mbps. Somewhere along the line, my network is doubling or tripling the stream. I have used both Mezzmo and TVersity as my DLNA servers with the transcoding turned off. The files playback fine at the expected bitrates on the PC with VLC Media Player.
Also, the problem is not with the wireless bridge. I was linked with a Linksys WET610N, while working on this problem, I attempted to update the firmware and bricked it. If anyone needs a DOA WET610N, they can have it for the cost of shipping. The DAP-1522 is getting a better signal and reporting a higher bitrate ceiling than the Linksys was.Is there a PC or router setting that could be causing this? I have even done a reset to restore the factory defaults on my router, but it hasn't made a difference.

I just installed my new DCS-2121 and enabled upnp to be able to watch the feed from my mobile. While being on vacation I noticed that the feed redirected to some strange Russian site,[URL]Back home now, I noticed that the /m/m/index.html file contains an iframe at the bottom, that redirects there. So someone (not me) has been able to alter the index on the wap site and add that at the end some way or the other. While Googling I found only one reference on a French forum, and other than the lack of newer firmware for the camera no direct reactions to this.I tried with a simple PUT to put the original file back, without the iframe at the bottom, but there I get a 403.
- When can we expect new firmware to fix this HUGE security problem?
- How to restore the original (and yes, I tried a factory reset, but that doesn't restore the html files it seems)
- How did they manage?
It seems from the config db that it's an OEM'ed alphanetworks.com camera with a lot more options that d-link put in there. Any input from them maybe, it seems they are writing the firmware?
