D-Link DIR-615 :: Slow Internet Speeds After Getting Router

Okay i just got the DIR-615 N Router and at first i was getting 40 ping on speedtest.net but now I'm getting 360 ping which is really frustrating since i upgraded because my old one was having troubles and also when i get to the check connection in the setup i am getting Your new router does not appear to be connected properly.
I have recently had trouble with my wireless D-link WBR-1310 Router. Two days ago everything was working fine, my wireless connection from the router to my macbook was fine and the wired connection to my desktop pc was also fine. I went to bed and when I woke up the next day everything was still ok. About 3 hours after I had first turned on the PC that next day my wired connection started spiking and dropping connection frequently, maybe every 5-10 minutes or so. I play world of warcraft and I also use Mumble VoiP Program and my pings in both are over 800 constantly now making it impossible to stay connected to either program. Sometimes it will drop down to regular numbers (25-50ms, I play on eastern servers as I am in NY) but then rapidly jumps back up into the 1,000's. My wireless connection is still fine though nothing has happened to that, only my wired connection is messing up.
I've tried changing my speed and duplex settings on my onboard NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet which is what im using but it hasn't worked. When connecting directly through the modem the problem seems to stop so its definitely the router.
I'm currently subscribed to Comcast's 22/5 Internet service. Internet upload speeds on both wired and wireless are about the same at ~ 5 Mbps. Wireless download speeds range from .5-3 Mbps. Wired or Wireless, I receive LAN speeds of ~32 Mbps or 3-4 MB/s. The noticeable issue is wireless internet download speed. I have tried every configuration possible with my router, updated drivers on devices, firmware and tested everything I could on all PCs, and even used the XBOX 360's media extender network tuning feature as a tool in my investigation to find this bottleneck. All reports point to internet download speed. Again, general LAN and internet upload speeds relatively meet expectations. The wired download speeds are slow at times, but consistently meet expectations.

I had my Dir-655 router for over a year & this is is a first.My firmware is 1.21 & I only use my router for gaming when I'm not on my PC for home use. I have only one PC in the house that is not shared, I have also not downloaded any virus or maleware.So the past month I decided to buy a wired ethernet cord to connect to my gaming systems rather than using the wireless option to get an extra bit of speed. That has been working fine up till yesterday when all of a sudden my download speeds dropped from around 20Mb down to barely 1Mb down (I can't even get the speed test site to fully load anymore). The upload & ping remains unchanged though. Only my Download speed is being affected. This is both when I'm on the PC & when I'm online gaming.
I unplugged my D-Link router & plugged my modem directly to my PC & I got back the 20+Mb speed, so the modem or cable company are not at fault (I even called them to see if there were any problems on there end).
-I tried turning off my Firewall on my PC. -Resetting & rebooting both my modem/router/PC. -using different DNS numbers. -using /flushdns. -using /Iprenew. -Messing around with my router configurations such as: turning off QoS Engine. turning off wireless. turned of MAC filtering. unchecked "Add DHCP Reservation". unchecked SIP.
None of it worked. I'm still browsing at around 56k dial up speed for the past day+!I read up on the internet for similar problems, but the only solutions I saw was turning off the firewall on the PC, but that hasn't worked at all.
My Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
I am only getting 10-14 mbps when I should be getting 30-35 (using the gigabit ports). I thought it might be my provider but today I connected my old netgear router and the speed was 32-34 mbps. Is there some setting that I should be looking at?
I'm surprised to see speeds around 11MB on a gigabit LAN and the NAS is also gigabit. I've been reading that when people take the DLink router out of the loop that there speeds get upwards around 48Mb or so. Or if they add in a non DLink switch put the equipment on that leg with the switch.
Are there some tweaks in the 825 that could work for the LAN speed for this NAS? Seems odd to have to buy a new router or add in a switch to do what this should be doing already. This is going to be an issue for streaming movies and especially HD via WiFi across the LAN.
I would also like to do my data backups to the NAS but when they hit around 60Gb it would take a long time to do a backup.
We recently bought a home and just moved in. That being the case, we got a new ISP (Cincinnati Bell DSL). The service is advertised as "Up to 5Mbps."

So what can I do to achieve faster speeds? Am I limited by the hardware I have? My Dell is roughly 6 years old. Am I limited by Cincinnati Bell? Is it the location of the wireless router? Are there settings I can adjust to create a faster connection?

Problem is that the XP machines can download 25Mbsp on speedtest.net but the Win 7 only manages 5Mbps through dir-655 -- ALL WIRED CONNECTS!. Connect Win 7 directly to modem and d/l is 30Mbps 2 hour Netflex test of wireless indicates good performance. D-Link support had me going in circles for a while until I finally suggested that a firmware update was in order. They assured me that this had been id'd as a problem and that latest firmwire would certainly solve it. It did not.
Just bought a dir-655, set it up (all though the wizard wasn't working, it kept getting stuck on step 5 of 7) so I just configured everything manually.I'm getting 2.4 MB/s speeds wirelessly.I was expecting much better, my wireless g linksys router did just slightly lower than that. My xbox 360 can't even stream HD without buffering every few mins. It also will just stop, and be unable to see the media for a couple minutes (when doing HD).I have wireless setup as WPA2, and the devices I use wirelessly are N devices. I have the router setup to only use wireless N.
I live in a townhouse in a college campus which means we all have the same ISP. I checked the channels and checked wifi stumbler. They both look good. For the last few days I have been getting really slow internet speeds after 7 pm till 1 am. I am paying for 25 mbps but around that time I get 0.5 mbps. I have the latest firmware for the router. I talked to customer support twice and all they did was reset my router and tell me to power cycle it. It can't be range of the router because my laptop is right next to it.
I did a search and came across this board because I too am having the same issues with wireless connection. I went as far as buying a new router, which like the original post stated, worked well for a few and then stopped. It's frustrating because I need the wireless connection for many items I use at home.
The speeds for my internet connection seems to vary significantly. For most of the day I have checked the speed of my internet from various websites such as speedtest.net, speed.io, speakeasy, 2wire, etc. The upload speeds are fine and are close to the advertised 4 Mbps upload speed that I am paying for.During the early afternoon, the download speeds are around 15 Mbps and start to slowly decline until it reaches 1 Mbps at around 9 PM. This has been going on for months and I pay for 30 Mbps download speed from Charter. I've checked this on three different computers throughout the day and they all read the same thing. I have two 5520s in a failover configuration. When browsing the internet behind them the speeds average 0.5Mb/1.0Mb Download/Upload. When bypassing the ASAs the speeds increase to 4Mb/6Mb. I have checked the interfaces on the ASAs and there are no errors, collisions, drops, etc.
We have an ASA 5510 and are experiencing unbelievably slow speeds. I noticed a problem last Thursday with users complaining of slow speeds and realized our interface had a ton of errors and was running at half duplex. I contacted the ISP (we are connected to their 3750) and they swore up and down they were set to full. So they had me switch to full and the interface shut down. I asked them to switch to auto and the interface came back up and we went to full, and of course the errors and colisions stopped. However the errors and packet drops have not stopped. The ISP sent out a technician and they determined it wasn't a problem on their end by plugging in a laptop and testing the speed--that worked fine. Eventually I plugged in a Sonicwall and bypassed the ASA completely and that worked fine. We plugged the ASA back in and we we went back to dropping packets. I put an old config on the ASA and oddly enough it seemed to have fixed the problem but we were still dropping packets. So I put the most recent config back on and that worked fine up until today. We're back in the some boat we were last week. So my first question is when I do a show int and see packets dropped - is that normal because of ACLs etc, or would that be show in another place? I have not made any configuration changes to the ASA ina couple of months. The interface counters were cleared about 45 minutes ago if that's how quickly the errors/packet drops are adding up.
Our internet connection is connected to an ASA. The download speed is ok but the upload is very slow. we have been running some speed test from our LAN, and have been also trying to upload/download file.
Our ASA also have the IPS module. I turned this off but we've got the same result.

I have been searching for about 2 days now about this problem and have tried almost everything I can think of to fix it but none seems to work Okay so I have a ISP package for 55 Mbp/s Down and 3 Mbp/s Up but when connected to the router either lan or wireless I am speedtesting at about 15 Mbp/s. I have called the cable company, they had told me that my signal was fine blah blah, I insisted the guy come out and still look at it so he did and on that day it just decided to run at the advertised speeds. I am running a WNDR 3400 Netgear V1 Router. I have tried changing MTU Size.
My connection is good directly to the modem. But the wireless router is giving off very slow speeds. For instance the modem is 10Mbps but I'm only getting 1.5 - 2Mbps through wireless.
We have 4 computers connected to the internet, 3 wireless and 1 through Ethernet. The router is an WRK54G. We are experiencing lag, and slow connection speeds. Could it be the router?
I bought WRT160Nv3 3 months ago . The computer is wired to the router . So I noticed 5 says ago that my download speed is slower – from 70mbps to20-30mbps . I have called the cable company and their tech support reports a good signal to the house. My firmware is up to date . I tried hard resetting the router-nothing.Plug,unplug still nothing.
I have a WRT600N router. I have one PC that is connected to the router via a wired connection. I also have an iPad (3rd generation) that is connected to the router via a wireless connection. On my PC, I went to speedtest.net and determined that I am receiving like 20MB downloads via the wired connection. However, my iPad only gets approximately less than 2 MB download speeds. I have tried reseting the router and I do have what I believe to be the latest firmware update (Firmware Version: 1.01.36 build 4). I also receive the slow download speeds when I try connecting the other wireless devices. I assume my problem has to do with some sort of configuration setting found in the router configuration page (http://192.168.1.1/). The router is only a few feet away from my iPad so the signal strength is strong. I just don't understand why I'm receiving such slow wireless download speeds.
i just replaced my malfunctioning E4200 with the new EA6500 and the speeds are almost like dail-up. I haven't changed ANYTHING in regards to the setup, so I don't see what I could possibly be doing wrong. I even went as far as hooking up the old E4200 to my laptop while having the EA6500 hooked up to my desktop so that I could cross-reference the router settings. They were exactly the same.
Very slow transfer speeds problem with this router. When I put the router in the system, my transfer speeds drop from 12 Mbps to 3 Mbps. I've updated the firmware to the latest version but that doesn't work. The most frequent suggestion is to upgrade the firmware which I have already done.
Unlike other people, I haven't (yet) experienced any flapping of the wireless connection: it's stable but slow.
My problem is that Samba share speed are 50MB/s without using the WUMC710 (connected directly to the router) and about 10 MB/s with connection to the WUMC710. Computers have gigabit NICs and proper cables.
The WUMC710 is about 5 metres from EA6500 and there are no obstacles. The WUMC710 says that signal is 100%.
On the EA6500 the 5GHz band is on and I have tried almost every possible compination with the settings: all the way from Mixed and full automated to Only AC and 80MHz. I also tried resetting both devices.
I have an E1200 that will work fine for a while, then suddenly the download speed for all wireless devices will drop to between 20-30 KB/sec. It happened last night when we were watching videos on Hulu. We were blazing along fine, when all of a sudden the connection was horrible enough that we had to stop watching. We have no idea what changed - there are only two of us in the house and we were both passively watching Hulu.
This has happened before, and usually changing something like the wireless channel has fixed it, but not this time. The PCs we have that are connected to the router via Ethernet get between 1-3 MB/sec, so I know it's not the modem or the ISP.The signal strength is good (4-5 bars). I have tried every channel available (including "Auto"). I have tried switching the Channel Width between Auto and 40 MHz. I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and re-uploading my configuraiton. I have tried setting QoS.
Set up my new E4200V2 last night, everything appeared to be working but while streaming videos over wired LAN I get short hiccups over wired. While streaming videos, a few second long pause is really, distracting, this is a deal breaker and my previous router (DIR-655) had no issue streaming any videos. Whoa, 10 ms over gigabit LAN. This is crazy, but doesn't tell us much. The 10 ms was one out of hundreds of pings, so its only intermittent. This might explain the hiccups, but this router doesn't appear to log anything, so its hard to say.Next was scp transfers, which never exceed 15MB/s, in either direction. For gigabit, wired LAN this is awful, with my previous DIR-655 I would get at the very least 40 MB/s, in all situations.Next up, iperf. I set up iperf on the two hosts, and iperf reports reasonable gigabit speeds. I upgraded my old router to a Linksys E1200 about 2 months ago. Like others with Comcast, I now have a lot slower internet speeds. I've updated everything, disabled WMM. I'm still getting slow speeds. My download speed is 3.12, which is not that bad for me. However, my upload is just below 1.
I have been experiencing intermittent issues with download speeds of 1-3 MB and ironically upload speeds of almost 10MB. When everything is working fine I get download speeds of about 35MB and upload speeds of 5MB which is normal. This issue comes and goes. I had Comcast come out several times and we finally pinpointed it back to the WRT400N router. The Comcast modem is a Cisco DPC3008 model. I know there are known issues with the Cisco WRT400N but have had a hard time finding the information. Any known issues for this model and if so what are the fixes. BTW, the firmware is up to date.
I have been having a problem with my router for the past two weeks and my ISP (RCN) has done nothing to fix it so maybe with our nerd power combined we can find a solution!My router runs fine about 60% of the time, I get 20-24Mbps down and 2Mbps up connect wirelessly. the other 40% of the time the download speed suddenly drops to 1.5-2Mbps down and 1Mbps up. I am seeing something pretty bizarre: when trying to copy files between two computers (both Windows 7 SP1 64bit), both physically plugged into the back of the E4200, I see extremely slow transfer speeds: 1.0-1.1 MB/sec. Both computers are fast (i7-2600K, both using SSDs) and both have gigabit ports (and the 4200's web UI shows both ports in question as operating in gigabit mode).
This is so slow as to be sort of funny. Each of these computers see speeds well in excess of that when transferring between the computer and outside internet sites...so it's kind of funny that two computers plugged into the same switch in the back of the 4200 see 1 MB/second.
