View 5 RepliesI have a problem with my router not connecting to a modem I know is working when connecting a computer directly to the modem it works fine, but when connecting via the router there is absolutely no internet access, and multiple unplugging and resetting the router to factory defaults and resetting it up hasn't worked.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have been trying to resolve this issue I have to no avail. Right now I am considering downgrading to a DIR-615 but having issues there and that is another story.
My computers speed test at 15+ megs no problems. I can stream Netflix on Xbox no problem as well as my BD player hooked wireless. All no issues, I have no disconnect issues with the router at all. In fact, it has run flawless since purchase and it has current 2.05NA firmware. Anyway, the problem I have is the PS3. I speed test the PS3 and I am getting 4 megs download at best. Up load is around 1. My friend, who is with the IP as me, Comcast, same internet package and we both have dedicated internet. His will speed test at 12 + and averages about 8 on a Saturday night.
I have had disconnects on the PS3 and I am sure it is due to this low bandwidth. I have messed with the DMZ with no success. I am about to try reserving the static IP I will create as soon as PSN is back up. My firends router is a DIR-615. Why would my (supposedly) uber router cut my broadband like this on the PS3?
Yes, I hooked PS3 up to modem direct and tested at 12.5megs dwn and 3-4 up I think Type1 NAT. Which tells me I am direct to a modem. Put my expensive router in the mix and it drops back to 4. All in all I am happy with this router, just this one issue. No I do not have it in QoS and see no reason to put it in there honestly. Plus, I doubt it would make it better being that I can get the 12 with it being connected to modem.
The people i play with always tell me that Im lagging during Call Of Duty Black Ops. I feel like I just never get the first shot off.
Is there anyway that I can improve the connection to my ps3?
Having router issues that is definitely not the routers fault, and most likely not the modem's. I currently have a DIR-655 in place here but have gone through 4 routers and 2 modems trying to resolve this problem.we were having trouble staying connected to a terminal server and would lose access to its URL which is set up with DynDNS. We switched service providers and all was well for a wile until our wireless started to drop, at the time we had a Netgear VPN and a Netgear Access point, and the network would just drop until the router was rebooted, sometimes 2-3 times a day and it would become a morning ritual to reboot the modem/router first thing.We removed the Netgear AP and turned on the wireless on our VPN and tried that along with a new modem, we replaced both with a Cisco VPN with wireless, we migrated to a software vpn solution and installed the current D-link router and the next day the same thing happened, I then replaced the power strip that was feeding the router and modem and that fixed.

This i getting rather frustrating because it also does with my previous router. I have changed all the wires included the cable from the wall to the main cable box.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI owned a dir-600 for 3 months now. for the first 2 months the router has been working perfectly fine. Meaning: my iphone and other devices can connect to wifi with no problem. Just under a month ago, the dir-600 started acting up. I done everything, from resetting router to even calling my dsl provider to check if the problem was with my provider. I also tried connecting my iphone to other wifi and it was able to connect without hassles.
I am not computer-savvy and I've googled everything but nothing seemed to fix the problem. I have attached the traffic statistics of the router. Obviously there is something wrong.

I am having problems with my TL-MR3420 router, it disconnects WIFI all the time. My ZTE MF 631 dongle gives me a strong signal and stable connection and rarely loses connecton when plugged directly into my laptop. With my MR-3420 V2 losses connection, duration only lasts for about 2 to 3 minutes. I have to power off/on the router and turn off/on the wireless button on the laptop to restore connection or manually disconnect in the web interface of MR -3420 and reconnect.
Even i tried the changing channel bandwidth and channel, still no luck. Router settings is pretty much default, expect security key. I have quite recently upgraded to the latest firmware but the problem seem not to have been resolved.
I have a D-LINK DIR-300 router with 4 LAN and WI-FI. It's acting very strange lately. It is connected to a UPS battery and the one LAN connection is in surge protection.Here are the symptoms:
-Every 2 days it just loses connection. I have to reboot it so to make the connection working. It's a little bit annoying after awhile.
- One day one of the LEDs started like fading away and came back up (the one that signals the LAN connection).
- When all the LEDs were properly working and the connection was good also, I moved the the power adapter cord a little bit at some part (I didn't plugged it out) and some of the LEDs gone (Internet connection LED and Wireless) but all the other LEDs were working. Of course there wasn't connection either.my OP is Ubuntu 12.04 and the connection DHCP is well configured.
I have been using my D-Link Wireless G Router for more than one year now and haven't met any connection problem with it until a month ago. I can no longer access the internet when the Internet cable is plugged in the router. I can access the net when the cable is plugged directly to our desktop. I bought a new router which is TP-Link TL-WR470N but the results are still the same. I tried configuring both routers using DHCP and Static IP settings but nothing changes. Power Cycling doesn't change anything. Renewing the IP, resetting WINSOCK and DNS makes no progress for me.

To start off, the wireless router we have is a D-LINK 615 Wireless N 300 Router.We've had this router for a couple of months now and only recently has it been giving us grief. When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc.However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying.All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.

But when it does this, i cannot even log into the Router. Its like it drops off the network completely.im still running FW 1.10, but im curious if this could be an outside attack as well. Its hard to get this info because i have to reset the router (ie unplug it) and that clears the log.. It also seems to reset the date/time as well.

But what I notice is that the internet connection is very slow and things drop. My downloads would be incomplete, and streaming is terribly slow. My torrent downloads will always reset. Simply put, this type of internet connection is terrible.
View 14 Replies View RelatedYesterday we had a very brief power outage and until then everything worked fine. Small business that runs modem - router - switch. Since the power outage I can only get internet if I run straight into the modem. As soon as I run from the modem to any (tried 3 different ones) router I lose internet. I get a wireless signal on my router. I've reset the router to default settings. I've plugged in another router to the modem to check and I don't get anything from that router either (which was not plugged in during the power outage).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new Dlink DIR-655 router. My motivation was a router with a USB port. I initially purchased a DIR-632. I have 1 desktop without a wireless card so it connects to router thru ethernet cable. I have 2 personal laptops with wireless cards and 1 work computer also with wireless card. With the DIR-632 all computers would connect to router, but my work computer (Dell) would connect but then intermittenly show no internet connection. All other computers had no issues connecting to internet ( wired and wireless) The Dell would connect and have internet connection if I used a wired connection. After talking to DLink Tech support they said that i had an issue with the Dell. I called Dell and they walked me thru several things. Nothing worked. They ultimately sent in a tech who replaced wireless adapter and did a diagnosis before leaving and the Dell was deemed to be in perfect working order. I tried connecting again after Dell's repairs and same issue. DlinK Tech support then said the issue was with router and suggested replacing router. Went back to place of purchase and obtained the DIR-655. Got home and exactly the same issue. Again on the horn with Tech support and issue was determined to be bad router. Went back to place of purchase and got another DIR-655. Got home tried new router same issue. Spent in excess of 4 hrs on the phone with level 3 tech support. We tried many, many possible fixes and it appeared as if we had the problem fixed, but within a hour of hanging up with tech support the issue was unchanged.
As the Dell is a work computer I use it a multiple locations, some with no issues connecting wirelessly and one location the same issue as at my home (interestingly enough this location uses a DIR-655). At this 1 work location it says I'm connected, it says there is internet access, but I cannot do anything on the internet.(I can connect without issue with an ethernet connection) At my home location I can connect to the DIR-655 wirelessly, it initially shows internet access and I might be able to access a single webpage, but then it states no internet connection, but it is still connected to the DIR-655.
My initial DIR-615 and the Dell works perfectly fine. However that defeats the purpose of me buying the DIR-655. Ideally I want only the DIR-655 with all computers connecting thru it.
The ISP is a satellite connection. The modem is a Hughes HN9000. By spending 4 hours online with tech support we have changed the channel used, specified specific DNS locations, IP addresses, renewed DHCP, you name we have probably tried it.
The Dell for some reason just does not like the DIR-655, as it connects to the DIR-615 and 1 other work location router, but it will not connect at my home or other work locations (both DIR-655 routers).
I have a brand new dir-655 of the B1 / 2.00NA version. It seems to keep a connection alive, but the wireless signal will suddenly and randomly disappear from all of my devices. I have reviewed this forum for hours and have made many changes to my settings, but nothing seems to keep the wireless signal from dropping.
Deleted the B mode, made sure the DNS entries were present, stick on one channel, etc. There are no other routers here and all of my phones operate on the 5 Ghz frequencies.
I never, not even once in three years, had this problem with the A version of the same router, but now it's a constant problem at least once a day. Nothing has changed by the router same brand and model but the newer hardware version.
The only remedy I have found is to reboot the router -- my devices will reconnect automatically once the router reboots, but there is no connection discovered once the connection drops regardless of how long the router sits doing its thing.
I've also notices that there are no wireless clients showing under status/wireless...they were there earlier today, but since the latest reboot, gone.

Possible to use a mobile via the usb connection on a TL-MR3020. The reason being is that my mobile data plan allows unlimited tethering through my phone...yet when I place the sim from the phone in the usb modem I get blocked by the provider stating that the sim can only be used in a mobile phone. Mobile data plans in the UK are very expensive and you get very little for your money.
I cant get this damn thing to connect to the internet (att dsl modem). I have ran the installation cd mulitple times and also configured it using the http. If i reset it while everything is hooked up and it makes an internet connection using DCHP (I think its called), but i need a PPPoE connection.
It seems to change my password (the username one that access the modem). The way i know is it always has more characters that the one i was provided by my isp with (*****). I dont enter any information other than my username or password (IP is dynamic).

Just wonder if anyone using the same model of router and having bad connection with wireless? Its OK with the pc LAN (physical cable) connection but intermittent lost signal, request timeout when connect from notebook or iphone/ipad via wireless whether with DHCP or fixed internal IP.
I am having this issue since day 1, then upgrade the firmware by myself... Still no good. I keep the device into store send to warranty claim. After 2-3 months only get back the device, firmware being updated to above.. It seems to be OK for 1st week( i think) ... but now lost signal again.

Since this change i have no more connection on my desktop computer. All setup is just the same uses at Linksys Router IP 192.168.0.1 Security WPA/WPA2 Personal AES the desktop connecto via Wifi with the router that assing me ip 192.168.0.102 but i have no access to internet or event access to the router admin page. At home i have a HP notebook which works just fine and i haven't ay issue, also my wife and i have Motorola Milestone cell phone which haven't any issue, Also PS3 connect just fine. But the XPS Desktop DONT.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Desktop (Win 7) and laptop (Acer Aspire 4830T) were talking both ways (after I fixed a Teredo Tunnel problem!) but have now degraded to the point where I cannot setup a Homegroup.The main issue is that although my wireless internet works when I am home (D-Link DIR-615 router), as soon as I leave, I get the dreaded Yellow exclamation on both Virgin Trains and my client's Unsecured wifi (with password protection). These did use to work in July. Can't detect an event when started to go wrong, though could blame Windows Update! Did try System Restore but these keep failing. Using Kaspersky.

- Connected the DCS 2121 wireless to my Belkin Router with a fixed IP address. Firmware version 1.4 is installed on the camera.
- I have a Synology 209 NAS server with surveillance station that I have connected to the Camera.
I all works fine for 5 minutes to a couple of hours at which point the DCS 2121 loose connection to the Router and does not try to reconnect. If I turn the Cam on and off it will reconnect - and then loose connection again af a short time.This is totally frustrating since the purpose of the Cam is to work as a surveillance cam - it kinda loose its value by not being connected...

i'm just starting setting-up my mr3040 device i entered the address 192.168.0.1 as recommended but the browser fails to connect
message: website (192.168.0.1) is online but isn't responding to connection
So i have set up my Dir-615 router and it worked for about a week perfectly. Then one day i was able to connect to the router, but it says that there is no internet connection. This is untrue since i am able to connect to the internet if i unplug from its WAN port and put it straight into my laptop.

i have installed TL-MR3220 after my livebox (orange french box), my MR3220 is configurer on the DMZ zone in the livebox, internet is ok on the pc but when adsl signal is down on the livebox, the MR3220 don't switch to 3G connexion. The wan led is alway on in the router. But if i unplug the wn cable, the router switch on the 3G connexion. If i plug the wan cable the router kill 3G and use wan connexion.
How can i config my WAN config on the router for automatic switch by the router. Actually, the WAN config is fixed address (DMZ address in the livebox) Whis PPPOE id, the router can't connect. The livebox modem can't work on briddge.
I purchased the DIR-615 last week, and have experienced intermittent loss of internet connectivity, and automatic rebooting numerous times a day. A solid connection is up for 90% of the time; but you never know when connection will be lost. When connection is lost it automatically comes back after about 5 minutes with the router rebooting itself. I though I would ask for assistance here prior to taking it back to Fry's. I was previously using a 6 year old Linksys, and had no problems for years until it recently decided to die.

How to get this router running with wimax usb from either Freedompop, Virgin, Clear , or Sprint?
Until yesterday my various equipment was networking to each other and the internet without a problem. After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a broadband connection through a TV cable connection to a ISP provided modem/wireless box. I have a wireless network set up already from this box. I wanted to extend the wireless network to a hard to reach area so i bought a seperate router (d-Link DIR-615 revE3).
I connected one of the 4 LAN outputs from the modem to the router's "Internet" input. Windows 7 detected the new router's wireless network and guided me through setting up a name and password for it. However there is actualy no internet access on this network even though it's directly connected to the modem.I was thinking that i wanted to just extend the original wireless network but a new network is fine if only it would use the internet from its LAN connection... a desktop computer has connected from the same LAN output of the modem without any security and been able to access the internet from it.
