i'm having some problems to configure.i have two sites, a primary site and the secundary site, in both sites every switches are layer two. I configured and activated the RSTP (802.1W) in every switch, but about every 30 minutes the topology change and happening a delay in network and loss some ping (ICMP).

I am using my iPhone to access Internet.
When I ping my video streaming host's IP address (the IP that they gave me where I can view my IP web camera's video stream), I get anywhere from 0% to 8% packet loss at various times of the day. They're claiming that there's no problem, that this is because this is a router and it's dropping ping packets due to "ping priority giving preference to more important network traffic."
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently moved from an old apartment in Downtown Montreal, to a suburb area, but still close to where I was before (10 km). I am using the same ISP provider, Videotron. The same speed. I was playing games perfectly fine before, but now something is really wrong. Whenever I join a server, my ping skyrockets up to close to 200, sometimes drifting to 130 but never going below... and often rising back up again.Keep in mind that I filter servers by their pings. I only join servers that display a low ping (although often I won't see any, when I refresh.. there they are). I'll see a server with 30 ping, join it, and be at 200. I'm mainly trying to play Chivalry Medieval Warfare.It's entirely unplayable. Not only is it impossible to properly time parries anymore, but I also get a lot of rubberbanding. I've tested the internet here, and the speeds are accurate. 10 mbps down, 1 mbps up. I am connected to a Linksys E1200 router. I've tried everything I can possibly think of.I went into the router setup, disabled the firewall, added myself to a DMZ, tried to forward every port for steam (although it didn't seem to recognize it as a program)... rebooted the modem, my computer, the router, tried a different Ethernet cable.. nothing is working. It's very depressing. Nothing has changed on my own computer in the move.

View 3 Replies View Relatedabout 4 weeks ago we started experiencing Packet Loss and High Pings while playing games. This affects our 2 PC's and our PlayStation 3 (Since we use them for gaming). We have contacted our ISP several times regarding the issue but each representative we have talked to has had different ideas of what the problem is. They replaced the modem twice which did nothing, so I then purchased 2 new Router's (DIR 601 N150 & DIR 835 N750+). Neither of them solved the issue. my ISP also says it isn't the Internet Cable that is causing the issue. My Download Speeds and Upload Speeds are right where they should be but the ping and the packet loss is the problem. I also contacted DLINK (Router Manufacturer) to see if they had and all we did was upgrade the firmware version and change the Wireless channels which also did nothing. I have plugged this PC into the modem with an Ethernet Cord and played games and all the issues were gone which leads me to believe that Modem and the ISP aren't the issue.
Things I've Tried:
-Resetting the Modem
-Testing each Wireless Channel on my Router
-Enabling and Disabling 802.11n and 802.11g on the router
-Changing the QoS settings
-Installing Software such as Gamebooster and Advanced System Care
-Disabling all Antivirus programs and Firewalls on the PC's
-Using a friends Modem instead of the Cogeco one

I'm facing a problem regarding loss of ping packets when i do ping test from nexus3k to another nexus3k connected directly.however there is no error counters on the interfaces on both of devices.the ping failutre is occurring only whenever i do ping test with a large number of ping packets.I don't see the ping loss symptom with default ping test (default ping test is 5 packets).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having what appears to be a random issue with my systems' ability to display various PC's on my network. Sometimes all the computers display when I open my MSHOME network and sometimes only six of them displayand the rest don't. I can always ping the computers whether they display or not.
My network has 13 computers, all running Windows XP SP3, one modem, one router and several switches. Some of the computers are access via wireless but most are hardwired to the network,
To the best of my knowledge, this is a recent event. The network has been up and running for over two years without me ever seeing this problem. I don't know if the problem exists on all computers but I do know that it exists on my personal workstation. It almost seems like an IP addressing conflict but there is no system error message indicating same.
Running 5 PC's and a laptop on a wired/wireless network at home. One PC running Win XP Pro started dropping the network connection (so it appeared) during browsing. Have found the following:
1. MSN messenger runs fine, and doesn't drop out
2. AVG antivirus updates with no issues
3. Web Pages in Chrome and IE will load fine one minute, then cannot load or pause for 1-2 minutes while loading
4. Can ping web addresses/IP addresses from command prompt with no issue.
5. Have changed the network connection from Ethernet to Wireless, which makes no difference to the issue.
6. If I "repair" the connection, and the network refreshes the IP address, I can browse successfully, for about a minute, before the issue occurs again. "Repair connection" again and can browse again for a minute.
7. Checking connected devices to the Netgear router, shows the PC name sometimes, against the IP address, other times it shows the PC as "unknown" against the PC address (when this occurs, web browsing is lost)
8. All other PC's on the network are fine.
I keep losing connections to the internet and getting a couple of different messages that the Gateway IP address is invalid. There are times it happens every few minutes and other times I can go for a couple of days without it. Also, we have to have satellite internet which has such an inconsistent speed. Is it the internet speed inconsistency or the 4 year old Belkin N Router?OK, so I tried to copy the information from the CMD window, but I can't get it to work. After I got the information and right clicked and clicked "select all" then what. I couldn't copy it. I can't find my way back to the instructions.

This lasts for around 5-10 seconds on average. I am running XP with the latest service pack. So far, I have checked out;Wireless Zero Config scanning of new stations (disabled that feature).Xirrus network scan (signal is fine and consistent). I am not suffering from any degredation in signal, the problem seems to be that the router is simply not allowing anything through at regular intervals.

Now the major problem is the de-sync between clients and I was wondering which is the best to reduce this.Say I have an upload speed of 1.2 Mbps and a download speed of 11.28 Mbps. Obviously, I am capped by my upload speed when it comes to changing how many packets i can send/receive per second because its all one setting and I am usually playing P2P.So, I am not entirely sure how big the packets are that are being sent, I am guesstimating based on what they said on Kaillera website that it is around 200-300 bits.Anyway, with my current upload speed I can transfer at a rate of like 600-800 packets per second depending on packet length.De-sync's happen quite often especially in the higher rom size games like Mario Party because of all the data being transferred. Would it be wiser to increase my setting of pps from 20 packets/sec to 60 packets/sec?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wrt110 firmware .05 has been working fine until now. I have a couple of phones, 2 printers, 3 laptops and a wii happily connecting to it. However now when I power on the wireless device, nothing can connect wirelessly. Wired connection is fine, but my wireless network disappears. No device can find the network, although it is there and set up on the admin pages. I pull the power chord out for 30 seconds and try again to get it going again, a bit like trying to start a car. Everntually devices find the network.
On two occasions it has forgotten the wireless settings and restored an open 'linksys' network. It's really infuriating becuase whilst I restore the SSID and use the same key, not all the devices actually recognise it and have to be reconfigured on the devices.
The network id name for my router has reverted back to linksys a couple of times, also with the loss of password.

I don't know what to do.Laptop manufacture says its AP but AP worked fine with old laptop and works fine when laptop is on power and all other devices seem to be fine with the exception of my Xbox 360 that wont connect if I have it on WPA2 but I will post another thread for that.
I am encountering delays when making any calls using VOIP. I understand that there is always a delay using VOIP but not as much. I've done a bandwidth test on my network and everything seems to be Ok, we have 4 T1s with 55 Reps using it. There is nothing choking up the network.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a strange problem with my internet connection. I have recently moved and brought my desktop with me. While I am able to connect to the internet in my new place, a weird problem arises: whenever I try to access a new webpage, there is a consistent 5-10 seconds delay before the page actually loads. After the initial delay however, the webpage will load quickly. This problem will repeat itself whenever I try to access a site that is not cached. I have tried switching ethernet cables/wireless adaptars and this problem persists. I have also tried scanning and cleaning my computer yet nothing works. Speedtest.net show that my ping, d/l and upload speed are all fine.
PS: Just to add some information, my new place comes with its own existing router (the building includes internet into its rent), and I am simply plugging an ethernet cable from my computer to it. In addition, my roomates and my laptop seem to be able to access the itnernet fine with this problem. Since this sounds a lot like a DNS problem, I have also tried using OpenDNS and that doesn't work either. In addition, the delay persists regardless whether I am trying to access a website via its domain name or numerical IP address.
I have one problem with our windows 2008 server when any user want to log in the domain from his computer, it takes long time. it takes around 5 minutes. I have installed DNS on the same AD Domain. Is that OK ?Secondly i have around 70 users and 4 ISPs.. Each ISP is used for specific data transfer. Each of the ISP is connected via ADSL Router to our switch?

I can dial the speed up/down via clock rate all good but I need to also simulate latency. This is for simulating a WAN bonding scenario so I was going to aggregate a 10M ethernet port with a 2M serial and a 512k serial. But I need to also ensure varying latency.
I noted that my router (Linksys3200) has delays or lag on the average of 5 to 10 seconds apart, but random, while playing on line games. While continuously monitoring delays (ping) with a program called Ping Plotter, it ranges from 25ms to 65ms. When not gaming, just surfing the net, the ping is zero and once in a great while a 5ms or 6ms spike may occur.
Am I looking at a malfunction in the router or the computer? or Is this normal?
I have a fairly new HP Proliant server that serves as a fileserver, among other things. I've tried serveral operative systems in order to find the one that suits my server-needs best and ended up with Windows 2003 Server.When browsing shares on my server over local network, there is a slight delay on approximately half a second every time I navigate. It's not a huge problem but it's enough to be annoying.However, there was no problem when I tried Debian 6 with Samba. So logic would suggest the problem is somewhere in a setting or something like that. But which setting? [code]
