Is there a device, which is able to produce a time delay on fiber optical link? I mean for example if one would like to reduce the power level of an optical signal, he could use simple air-gap optical attenuator on optical link. However, has somebody seen a device, which is able to introduce a time delay on optical link?
A couple of users on my network complain about timeouts. They access the same server which runs a SQL server. People from outside world can access it without a problem but internally it keeps timing out. I have also noticed that VoIP phones have a delay internally. So if i pickup my phone and dial an extension the other person can't hear me sometimes but i can hear him.
I have experienced the VoIP problem but have never had any time outs on my machine. I tried packet capture on a couple of computers but i cant see anything out of the ordinary. Alot of ARP, some STP which i think shouldn't reach the machines, dropbox traffic etc.
I have a new ASA 5510 running 8.3(1) and ASDM 6.4(5)
I am trying to use the real time log viewer to troubleshoot some access issues, but I am getting delays of up to 30 seconds or more between my client connecting to the ASA and the corresponding events showing in the RT Log viewer. I am using a simple filter for source IP as it's quite a busy device.
I've seen an article that says to turn off certain logging IDs (such as 304001 from memory) which I have done, but no different.
Any good way to force a serial link to delay packets to simulate a hi latency WAN link? Found this command so far:
Router(config-if)# transmitter-delay hdlc-flags
I can dial the speed up/down via clock rate all good but I need to also simulate latency. This is for simulating a WAN bonding scenario so I was going to aggregate a 10M ethernet port with a 2M serial and a 512k serial. But I need to also ensure varying latency.
I am using my new DCS-930L to monitor motion at a door entrance. It is firing off when motion happens but the image it emails is taken @ 12 seconds after the motion. So the result is I know motion happened but the person who came to the door is long gone or through the door by the time the image snapshot is taken. I get multiple emails containing images of the empty entrance. Is this a software, hardware, firmware or user error issue?
Region : Vietnam Model : TL-WR841N Hardware Version : V8 Firmware Version : ISP : VNPT on Vietnam
I have bought WR841 V8.3. Signal show is good, but i ping to router many timeout or delay when i open some website. Ping only geog when i near router.(some time delay)
we have problem so extract cmexport data from LMS Prime 4.2 I am suspect we are hitting BUG ID "CSCtx99871", but not sure.

AI have a Dir-825 router. The 5GHz is turned off and the wirless is on G/N. I have shawcable for my isp and my firmware is 2.06 and its a Rev B Router. I also have Qos Engine on for allowing me to have 2 xboxes on Open NAT.problem is my wireless signal for some wired reason is VERY weak. A while ago it used to work really far way outside. It was around 150ft distance at 4 bars. Now for some reason I can't even go upstairs without getting a 1 or 2 bar signal.
i have had my dir-655 one year now, have never had wireless problems with it until now.my notebook's internet gets very slow somedays, i just restart my router and then internet speed works normally.i have:
I have been trying to get my 851W to work with DDNS for a long while now. In fact I walked away from the problem in frustration and loaded DD Client on a Linux box until I had time to re-visit this. The folks at Zone Edit were not able to offer much with CLI problems.
When I debug DDHS updates I get to a point where the the router tries to resolve the DDNS update address and fails. So I have a number of questions:
a) Is this error the result of lack of DNS server names written to the config?
b) My WAN interface is a DHCP client to my modem. If the DDNS updater does need to resolve a name, shouldn't the DNS server info be provided by the DHCP process for the WAN interface? How do I ensure that name servers are automatically assigned for the DDNS updater to use?
I've seen where the micron is printed on a fiber strand, and that you can identify the connector type, but how do identify the difference between a 50 micron OM4 MMF, a 50 micron OM3 MMF, and a 50 micron OM2 MMF?
560km long pipeline, intermediate station at every 30 or 40 kms. Couple of Ip phones, 2 or 3 IP camera, and few control signls (IP system) will be connected at every stations. Do not expect heavy data. Which one may be the prefered economical solution can I use
1. Ethernet network (Switch with Optical SFP ports at every site) 2. SDH equipment at every site 3. DWDM equipment (if so lower end)
I have a ONT with a built in router but I need to install a separate router onto our network by connecting the router to the ONT. I need the extra router so that I could use some 3rd party hardware which can only be configured in D-link and Tp-link brand routers. I do not want to change the ONT system to the standard modem router system because the ONT also supports a system of internet phones. I'm curious if this is possible at all because a repair tech. told me that you could use the router as a transformer but so far it is not working. I'm really unfaimilar with the ONT configuration so I don't know if this plan can actually work . So far the router can not recieve a WAN connection and therefore can not obtain a Ip address.
I have a Laptop with no optical drive. I wanted to avoid buying and external CD/DVD Burner by connecting the Laptop to the Desktop in order to use the optical drive to setup up office and MSWindows
choose the right media converter for my private LAN? My budget is very less & I found TP-Link products fits in my budget.I got confused by looking at 2 models & don't know which one to choose. TP-Link's MC220L and MC210CS. these two models are same but with different I/O Ports(connectors) for Fiber Cable connection?
I was wondering why there are so many different types of optical connectors? - sc, fc, lc, e2000? Why the devices have different connectors? Dispite the fact that some of them are push/pull, and some of them are not, and if there are specific types for multimode and singlemode, and full/half duplex.
Is there a command to find your optical tx/rx power (dBm) on a 3845? On a 3750 you can do a show int transceiver; looking for a comparable command for ISRs.
I whish to connect the two switches shown below. The distance between them is 50m (~54 yards), one floor apart, and I would like to link them with the cheapest optical solution possible.I have been given a solution with 19inch patch panel, splitter, pigtail cords, patch cords, SC connectors, i.e., the lot.Not being an expert in networking, I feel that is an overkill solution.
I was positively surprised to find the optical transmit/receive values using the show fiber-ports optical-transceiver detailed command on a SG300-10.
Now I'm wondering if there is also a SNMP-MIB to query these values? I've already tried the CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB used by the larger devices running Cisco IOS, but this didn't work.
We're installing ASR1000 series (ASR1001 and ASR1006) routers on a new WAN and have a requirement to enrypt the traffic between the EIGRP neighbors. Each ASR will be connected to the MOE with a gig interface and we will be using L3 on the interfaces with EIGRP as the routing protocol. We have advipservices-k9 IOS-XE
The ASR1006 is our datacenter WAN router and all remote sites have the ASR1001s. The ASR1006 WAN interface will be configured with L3 subinterfaces, one to each remote location, using a /30 mask.
What is the best method to encrypt the traffic between the ASR1006 WAN interface and the remote ASR1001 WAN interface?
We have C7206VXR NPE-G2 platform with transceiver which support DOM.Could we monitor DOM tx/rx level statistic through snmp for 7206 platform? In CLI result of command "sh interf GigabitEthernet0/1 transceiver" give some information. We tried search for some MIB In "MIB locator" on cisco.com.
I have a switch where the current power threshold is set to -20.0db. The problem is that the receive power fluctuates between -19.9db to -20.1db, which is causing it to throw alarms on my solarwinds monitoring server. What I would like to do is change it to a different warning threshold, but I can't seem to find the command to do so. This is a catalyst 3750 running IOS version 12.2(55)SE3. [code]
I have DIR-655, 1.33NA. Recently, I noticed the clock in the router was off, so I wanted to correct it. Each and every time I go through the steps to reset the clock, using time server or clone computer time, or manual reset, after the save settings and reboot of the router, i find the router still displays the wrong time, and frequently reverts itself to a time on Feb 22, 2012. Same problem for trying to reset the DST settings, turning automatic time from server on and off, changing the time server polled. Additionally, I have forced the router to factory settings and rebuilt all of my configuration no less than 4 times.
So, since I recently had to trade out the cable modem because Cablevision fried it with their 'system upgrade', I'm also wondering if the same shenanigans also damaged the router.
We have a scenario where we want to connect 14 access layer 2950 switches to Core switch 3750 via optical fiber in a LAN.What model of 3750 Switch should we use to tackle this situation.I have learnt that WS-C3750X-24P should support it.Isnt it?
Can we use optical fiber SFP module to connect 2950 switches to core switch?Does Cisco 2950 Switch support optical fiber sfp module?
I have an C4900M with twingig converter and SFP GLC-LX-SMD in. So the SFP supports DOM function. It is running on 12.2(53)SG2.
I would to the see the optical power level of the SFP, but it does not recognize 'show interface transceiver' command as showed in 4500 software guide.
Hooked up this router the other day to replace my old Linksys G - which has been bulletproof for 8 years. I am now wondering if I made a mistake with this unit.
I set up DDNS - after much trial and error with dyndns it now works fine.I tried to set up NTP time function - does not work. Then I set time manually. Of course on reboot it looses the time since there is no internal time function. So I need NTP.In the course of troubleshooting I turned off DDNS and behold the NTP time function now works. I turn DDNS back on and NTP does not work.
I see no logical connection between these two functions, yet the seem to interact (or not) somehow. When the NTP is not working, on reboot the time displayed in the router is the last time that I MANUALLY set the time, even though that is grayed out since I have (supposedly) activated NTP.
If I do NOTHING to NTP and uncheck DDNS, after reboot the time is correct.I tried many different NTP servers all with the same result.Looking back on-line, I see the NTP function has been a continual problem with some folks (maybe those using DDNS?) in earlier firmware. Come on DLINK don't you think it's time to get this fixed?
Internet cable to dir655 and cat5 to master computer with slave using wireless. Network between them always works fine. But if master connects to internet the slave will lose the internet until the master disconnects. like it won't share the signal.
I starting having really bad lag when playing games or just surfing. I put on wireshark and can see my router is broadcasting all the time. here is part of the wireshark log
"1","0.000000000","D-Link_**:**:**","Broadcast","ARP","60","Who has 192.168.0.172? Tell 192.168.0.1" "2","0.000737000","D-Link_**:**:**","Broadcast","ARP","60","Who has 192.168.0.171? Tell 192.168.0.1" "3","0.001469000","D-Link_**:**:**","Broadcast","ARP","60","Who has 192.168.0.170? Tell 192.168.0.1" "4","1.002284000","D-Link_**:**:**","Broadcast","ARP","60","Who has 192.168.0.169? Tell 192.168.0.1"
it does this for the whole subnet then starts over. i turned off all the broadcasting in all the menu and it still doing it. i upgraded to 2.10NA, but it did not seem to do anything to it. I bought this router on 3-5-11. I have not tried resetting it to factory settings. I wanted to see if i missed something first. Router is on a APC UPS with the modem and the switch.
Hardware version is dir-655 B1 firmware is 2.10NA cox cable is my ISP
