Need To Add A Router To Optical Network Terminal (ONT)

Aug 13, 2012

I have a ONT with a built in router but I need to install a separate router onto our network by connecting the router to the ONT. I need the extra router so that I could use some 3rd party hardware which can only be configured in D-link and Tp-link brand routers. I do not want to change the ONT system to the standard modem router system because the ONT also supports a system of internet phones. I'm curious if this is possible at all because a repair tech. told me that you could use the router as a transformer but so far it is not working. I'm really unfaimilar with the ONT configuration so I don't know if this plan can actually work . So far the router can not recieve a WAN connection and therefore can not obtain a Ip address.

Home Network :: Difference Between The Optical Connectors?

May 30, 2012

I was wondering why there are so many different types of optical connectors? - sc, fc, lc, e2000? Why the devices have different connectors? Dispite the fact that some of them are push/pull, and some of them are not, and if there are specific types for multimode and singlemode, and full/half duplex.

Remote Terminal Over Home Network?

Sep 1, 2012

I've got a decent setup (Vista, 6GB RAM) that I use for web browsing, browser games, and the occasional MMO. My wife has something that works for her for browsing / browser games (Win7, 2GB RAM). Naturally, the kids are always on my machine, and whoever comes second is fine with Mom's. BUT, sometimes that ol' butthead Daddy wants to use his own computer! No problem - Junior got a netbook for Christmas. OH, but... it's not what he's used to... actually, it's slow enough in comparison (Win7, 1G RAM) that he gets frustrated and wanders off[CODE]

Network Printers Disappear After Logoff - Logon To Terminal Server?

Feb 8, 2012

I have an annoying problem with networked printers disconnecting/disappearing when TS users logoff. Current configuration is: SQL server (WinSvr 2K8 R2 Std) has printers installed on it (standard TCP/IP Port) and printer is shared, there are also some printers installed on the DNS server and a couple of satellite offices. Users connect to TS servers (WinSvr 2K8 R2 & WinSvr 2K3) printers are connected and work fine until they logoff, when they log on the printers are gone "sometimes some printers are still there!?" I have tried logging onto the server as domain administrator and connecting printers but they won't even stay for administrator (have had this with win7 client machines) and tried directly 'console' at the server. I have looked at the printers on the SQL server and sharing properties, it is stoping printers from coming back at login on TS Note that local (client machines) connecting to the same shared printer from the SQL server dont have the problem it's just on the TS server.

Cisco Router(s) Cannot Be Seen In Terminal

Jul 1, 2011

trying to configure 2 cisco routers (3620 and 2501) Im using a RJ45 to DB9 cable and trying to see it in Tera Term. Nothing shows up in the terminal, and i cant even enter any imput. Ive tried hot-plugging into it, tried powering it up after making the connection, 3 different cables, 2 different computers (2 coms apiece-tried both) and every possible baud speed including the recommended 9600. (with no parity or flow control) the lights on the routers all come on and from what ive read they are not blinking out an error code. Ive also tried plugging the RJ45 into the AUX instead of CON and still, no cigar. BTW- running WinXP on Pentium4 2.53Ghz and 1G of RAM.

Any example of router config for a terminal server. In fact I need a configuration for a router with multiple, low speed, asynchronous ports that are connected to other serial devices, for example, modems or console ports on routers or switches. With this router I would like to use a reverse telnet to connect with my devices using the serial connection.I find many examples on the Cisco web site but none with my router hardware configuration. My router is a 3620 router with a 8 port async (NM-8A/S) network module and I would like to use the 8 serial interfaces, each of them connecting a serial device.

Cisco WAN :: ASR1000 - Encryption Over Metropolitan Optical Ethernet

Mar 1, 2012

We're installing ASR1000 series (ASR1001 and ASR1006) routers on a new WAN and have a requirement to enrypt the traffic between the EIGRP neighbors.  Each ASR will be connected to the MOE with a gig interface and we will be using L3 on the interfaces with EIGRP as the routing protocol. We have advipservices-k9 IOS-XE

The ASR1006 is our datacenter WAN router and all remote sites have the ASR1001s.  The ASR1006 WAN interface will be configured with L3 subinterfaces, one to each remote location, using a /30 mask.

What is the best method to encrypt the traffic between the ASR1006 WAN interface and the remote ASR1001 WAN interface?
