Feb 16, 2012So I have read about proper procedure involving the connection between a console cable and Hyper-terminal. I have also tried plugging into a network port to obtain an IP Address but nothing seems to work. When powering on the switch I see that it lights up, hear fans spin and assume it has booted properly. I'm using Hyperterminal on Windows Xp Pro SP3 and I've also tried minicom in Fedora.
And just FYI Hyperterminal was set to the proper:

Q1,I've created a 2 phase ipsec vpn with an IKE & preshared key (AES/MD5/1), but I can't find out how to get my encrypted hash for it?also, I can't access the IOS via telnet/ putty, I found an article online explaining how to enable it via url string, but it didn't work,

Cisco Router(s) Cannot Be Seen In Terminal
Jul 1, 2011trying to configure 2 cisco routers (3620 and 2501) Im using a RJ45 to DB9 cable and trying to see it in Tera Term. Nothing shows up in the terminal, and i cant even enter any imput. Ive tried hot-plugging into it, tried powering it up after making the connection, 3 different cables, 2 different computers (2 coms apiece-tried both) and every possible baud speed including the recommended 9600. (with no parity or flow control) the lights on the routers all come on and from what ive read they are not blinking out an error code. Ive also tried plugging the RJ45 into the AUX instead of CON and still, no cigar. BTW- running WinXP on Pentium4 2.53Ghz and 1G of RAM.

The client PC doesn't have a hard disk so I want to boot it using a USB stick.I've already installed and configured Remote Desktop Roles and was able to access the Hyper-v VM using a browser locally.So what can I do next? I can't take the .vhd image and put it on a usb stick because it's too large (30GB) and converting it to .vdi would still be large.

Aug 13, 2012I have a ONT with a built in router but I need to install a separate router onto our network by connecting the router to the ONT. I need the extra router so that I could use some 3rd party hardware which can only be configured in D-link and Tp-link brand routers. I do not want to change the ONT system to the standard modem router system because the ONT also supports a system of internet phones. I'm curious if this is possible at all because a repair tech. told me that you could use the router as a transformer but so far it is not working. I'm really unfaimilar with the ONT configuration so I don't know if this plan can actually work . So far the router can not recieve a WAN connection and therefore can not obtain a Ip address.

Oct 29, 2011I'm trying to set up VLANs in my network.So the first device after the internet cloud is my ISP modem/router. I don't really use the router part. The second device is my Linksys WRT54G router with DD-WRT firmware on it.Between the two, there is a subnet just for them. After the DD-WRT router, there is a subnet for my LAN.The third device is my netgear GS108T switch (with vlan support) to which almost all my computers are hooked up. One of those computers is my server that is domain controller and has the roles as shown in the image. What I would like to do is to create several virtual machines in Hyper-V. The trick is that I want to isolate them from the rest of my network. They should be able to access (and be accessed) from the internet but not the rest of my network. So my whole network should be in the same VLAN but each VM should be individually in separate VLANs.
1) I've allready created the VLANs on my Netgear Switch. I know my DD-WRT also has VLAN support. Do I need to create the same VLANs on that also?
2) How to configure the VLAN part of the Hyper-V server? (by the way, my server OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 with the hyper-v role, it's not the bare-metal hyper-v)Should my Virtual Switch be in VLAN 10 and my VMs in the other VLANs?Should the port (on the netgear switch) in which my server is connected, be in VLAN 10 (so that my server is accessible from every other computer in the network)?

Pages Loading Very Slowly - When Connected To Router
Sep 19, 2012I'm on a wired business network. Some of the machines are Windows 7 and some are XP Pro, but all of us are having issues connecting to web pages, especially pages with lots of pictures. If you refresh it a few times, it may pop up. Some don't ever come up, like weather.com. The server has the same issue, even if you connect it directly to the router.

Anyway, a glaring, and obnoxious problem I am having is everytime I load a page for the router(192.168.1.1), it does not completely load and I have to hit refresh.Now when I try to change the router settings from DHCP to PPPoE, it reloads the page, for whatever reason, and because this router wants to be irritating, it only half loads the page, so I cannot click the "save settings" button.This is what has been done to the router after being reset(red button on the back held in for 10 sec):I turned on the modem, and plugged directly in to make sure I had internet connection.I plugged the modem's ethernet into the "Internet" port on the wireless router.And finally, I plug an ethernet cable from my computer to the 1st port on the wireless router.Nothing else has been changed. I have not turned on any ridiculous settings. This half-loading router pages is driving me up the wall though. I cannot even troubleshoot the wireless connectivity because I cannot make any changes.

There is a website that does not load when the router is in a certain setting. The website I tried to access was url...I have tried the different firmwares and settings and have narrowed it down to the AES encryption.Have tried the original 120328 firmware, works perfectly with all different settings.With the 120822 firmware, it works with all settings EXCEPT when AES is chosen as the encryption method, be it using WPA or WPA2 Personal.
I therefore pinpoint the AES encryption mode in the 120822 firmware to have a bug. I need to use 802.1n with AES, rather than TKIP.Can someone else using 120822, with AES encryption for wireless, verify that this is happening for them too?

boot config flash:<Config file>
where <Config file> is the file on the flash.
Although this can be applied on 2811 routers, they fail to load the file on the flash card. I've since found that this router type has a Class C flash. So the question is, can either:

Apr 27, 2011I bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house.Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

certain websites couldn't be accessed on any of our devices (mixture of PC's, android and apple devices)After trying everything I could think of and even phoning our internet provider nothing would get the sites to load (Facebook, hotmail to name but two)A friend of mine also said he was having exactly the same problems whereas no one else I know had any problems!.Anyway, after much scratching of head with resetting the router to factory defaults etc the only thing left to test was a direct connection with the modem where all websites worked perfectly!So the problem is 100% the router! Even after a factory restore it still doesn't work with those websites and after talking to my friend it turns out he too has a tp-link router but a different model.
