I have a cisco 2821 router and it has an advanceip image in the flash each time on reboot it gives the message software forced crash and checksum error and finally goes into rommon. i tried xmodem and tftpdnld -r but same problem persists. I even changed the CF with a working router's flash but the same problem occurs.I also loaded an ip base image of about 13Mb size and all the same problem repeats with it.

Router was working without any problems but due to power loss router restarted and goes into rommon mode
I tried to boot from flash and usbfalsh with different images but no use router is in still rommon mode.

I'm on a wired business network. Some of the machines are Windows 7 and some are XP Pro, but all of us are having issues connecting to web pages, especially pages with lots of pictures. If you refresh it a few times, it may pop up. Some don't ever come up, like weather.com. The server has the same issue, even if you connect it directly to the router.

Anyway, a glaring, and obnoxious problem I am having is everytime I load a page for the router(192.168.1.1), it does not completely load and I have to hit refresh.Now when I try to change the router settings from DHCP to PPPoE, it reloads the page, for whatever reason, and because this router wants to be irritating, it only half loads the page, so I cannot click the "save settings" button.This is what has been done to the router after being reset(red button on the back held in for 10 sec):I turned on the modem, and plugged directly in to make sure I had internet connection.I plugged the modem's ethernet into the "Internet" port on the wireless router.And finally, I plug an ethernet cable from my computer to the 1st port on the wireless router.Nothing else has been changed. I have not turned on any ridiculous settings. This half-loading router pages is driving me up the wall though. I cannot even troubleshoot the wireless connectivity because I cannot make any changes.

There is a website that does not load when the router is in a certain setting. The website I tried to access was url...I have tried the different firmwares and settings and have narrowed it down to the AES encryption.Have tried the original 120328 firmware, works perfectly with all different settings.With the 120822 firmware, it works with all settings EXCEPT when AES is chosen as the encryption method, be it using WPA or WPA2 Personal.
I therefore pinpoint the AES encryption mode in the 120822 firmware to have a bug. I need to use 802.1n with AES, rather than TKIP.Can someone else using 120822, with AES encryption for wireless, verify that this is happening for them too?

The preferred resolution for this would be the first as there are many remote routers installed a diverse and difficult locations to visit, should a format/rebuild of the flash fail for some reason.
don't ask to list the output of a show boot or show bootvar, neither of these commands work. The Startup/Running config lists the boot config line.

Having problems with the E1200 when it comes to loading images and vidoes. Text loads fast, but images take several minutes, and for videos - forget about it, takes at least 15 minutes to load even a 2 minute video. I've changed MHz settings and several other settings, but nothing seems to have worked.

Text does not load.The graphics load okay, and the dropdown boxes, checkboxes, etc. Since many of the links are from text, and all of the descriptions, it is impossible to navigate properly. View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house.Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

certain websites couldn't be accessed on any of our devices (mixture of PC's, android and apple devices)After trying everything I could think of and even phoning our internet provider nothing would get the sites to load (Facebook, hotmail to name but two)A friend of mine also said he was having exactly the same problems whereas no one else I know had any problems!.Anyway, after much scratching of head with resetting the router to factory defaults etc the only thing left to test was a direct connection with the modem where all websites worked perfectly!So the problem is 100% the router! Even after a factory restore it still doesn't work with those websites and after talking to my friend it turns out he too has a tp-link router but a different model.

It has installed into it a 9 port HWIC for layer 2 switching as well as allowing the router to communicate on the Network Management VLAN. All of the devices on the Network Management VLAN are segregated from the managed traffic, which unfortunately also doesn't allow them external NTP services. Can the router be programmed as a NTP server so that all of the network appliances can utilize it for NTP from either it's NM Vlan IP address or from a loopback address?

- voice calls
- ospf
The ospf is not the cause of the high cpu , because the high cpu utilization appears before I put the ospf proccess on the router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Cisco 2821 router to provide temporary Internet access for a private network of about 300 users for a conference at a hotel. The hotel has provided me a public IP address for the WAN side. On the LAN side I have a 10.x.x.x /8 subnet with the router providing DHCP and NATing (overload) across the WAN interface.
Users can pick up an IP address and access the web. Light web pages such as Google tend to load without issue, however if a user does something that takes more time, such as streaming a Youtube trailer or opening an RDP session, the connection will freeze.
It doesn't appear to be related to bandwidth availability. Pings return on average 10-15 ms. However, I will get a request time out about every 10th continual ping. Steaming video will load about 4-6 seconds worth of data, then will appear to freeze without dropping. Doing something like speedtest.net will send a large amount of data then will hang, without ever ending the conversation.
This doesn't happen when I plug a laptop directly into the hotel public Internet line. They also don't have issues with their network similar to this.
I do not have any ACLs, etc. loaded. The router is basically wide open as far as I can tell. I don't see the router resources getting used much at all.
Recently I have bought a 2821 router from an auction. The router did have some configuration and password on it. I tried to break into it by restating it and pressing control and pause break signal. Old cisco method. Now when I try this method on my 2821. It does say that password recovery is disabled on the router. After this message router proceed with normal boot process. How to break the password ? Even if I loose the configuration.

I am looking to find the correct router for a 50 Mbps Ethernet connectin that is for Internet traffic. It will need to support 50 Mbps throughput, along with routing protocols for BGP, and maybe NAT/ACL's. It most likely will be a used router, in the 2800 series. I'm thinking a 2821 would work, but need to make sure before I pass it on to the customer. They currently have a 3660 they were thinking of using, but I think it would be too weak, and probably only pas 30Mbps at the most before it chokes. They are a mini ISP with their own ASN, Tier 3.

Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.
