I have a cisco 2821 router configured as a CME version 7.1. Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.
I read that there are internal and external flash memory in 3725 router that can max up to 128mb. So adding the sizes of internal and external flash memory, will that total to 256mb?
And also is the internal flash of 3725 just the same with its external flash?
When I try to copy ios to one flash in router 2801, I receive the message of of insufficient memory, and have the follow out in the next command: [code] This product contains cryptographic features and is subject to UnitedStates and local country laws governing import, export, transfer anduse. I just read the Removing and Installing CompactFlash Memory Cards in Cisco 2800 Series Routers instructions and there was nothing said regading powering down the router. Are these CompactFlash cards hot swappable??
I have Cisco 2600 series Router which has only 32 MB flash memory. I tried to load IOS image in that but image size is 29 Mb in compressed form. The minimum i found is 5 MB in compressed form but it is missing so many commands. that in 32 MB flash, how can I load image which has almost all the commands.
We have a customer that has a ASA 5525-x reporting only 4g flash memory rather than 8g has any 4g version of the 5525 or is the IOS reporting incorrectly the size, as it seems to be embedded on these units as a USB disk internal.
Currently I have C2801 with 256MB of memory and 64MB of flash. I want to upgrade it to 384MB / 128MB.Do I need to get MEM2801-256D or I can use any PC133 SDRAM (144PIN) for memory? 384 is maximum I can install? Do I need to get MEM1800-128CF or I can use any compant flash card? 128MB is maximum I can install? (I saw 256MB flash on for C2801)
if there is a Flash Memory upgrade option for the ACE4710 that they have.He says he needs more memory so that he can have two images on flash at once. From what I can find, there does not seem to be an upgrade option to increase the flash from the 1 Gig that comes with the platform.
According to my boss every 3 to 4 months he has to restart our 2821 with a 16-esw module installed because of a low memory issue dealing with CEF. Here is the exact error message.

I need to upgrade the compact flash memory on a 2821 router from 64 to 128, upgrade the ios, and re-script the router. So I'm wondering what is the correct sequence? With the router powered on, do i eject the existing flash, and install the new one or do I power down the router? Once the memory has been increased, then i can upload the new ios?
I have a cisco 2821 Router , it was operating fine but for the past 2 days its having a weird problem.During operation suddenly the connection is lost and when checked through console there is no IOS image on the Router (all configuration is erased and the router boots up in rommon mode and there is no IOS on dir Flash:I installed ios on it through tftp but again after some random time the IOS is automatically erased from flash i checked the config register value and its fine at 0x2102.
I recently upgraded the flash and the RAM on one of my ASA 5505 lab machines. The flash was upgraded from 128 to 512MB and the RAM was also upgraded from 256 to 512MB. I am using asa845-k8.bin. The firewall boots and runs file until you issue the reload command. The system shuts down but never reloads.
the problem shows an error in a switch catalyst 2900XL - its a 2924 -, i was copying the image of the ios via xmodem and before finished the the power energy in the facility shuts down, when the energy supply returns the switch get power energy normally but the flash memory doesn't initialized and the loader stuck when i try to initializy the flash or reset
The switches see very few traffic (under 40MB on all interfaces, summed, so far), however, I/O memory utilization is about 80% as can be seen from the show memory command:
The memory allocated is almost all Packet Data, by init, "sho memory io dead" returns zero, the memory usage seems constant, there are no errors on the log, the switches operate correctly, no packet has ever been dropped, CPU usage is about 4%.
Here I showed info for one switch, the other is in the same situation. I just want to know if this behavior is expected, I don't want to find out problems when the switches will be in production whit real traffic.
I have a 2600 router i intend to use as an access server. I doesn't have an IOS so i downloaded via tftp. I should see the file at Dir flash:, but all i get are these error
rommon 1 > dir flash: File size Check sum File name lseek out of bounds getdirent: lseek error rommon 2 >
And if i tried to download again the file, its failing because it seems that there aren't any space available in my flash. Here is the mem info.
rommon 2 > meminfo Main memory size: 64 MB. Available main memory starts at 0x10000, size 65472KB IO (packet) memory size: 0 percent of main memory. [code]...
Here's what i think. The first file download could be corrupted and it eats up the space on my flash. My question is how can I reformat the flash so that I can re download the IOS? And if in case that fails also, any other way i can recover this machine.
I am running 12.3(11) T8 on Cisco 2821 platform and trying to upgrade to 15.0. No luck. So I tried to upgrade it to 12.4 24T. But failed several times on different routers. Is there an intermediate version I should land before jumping to 12.4 24T?
I just received a 1812 model unit flash memory C class.
I cannot free the space from CF; after format, I receive the same amount of space:
Cisco-1812-II#show flash: 14450688 bytes available (17489920 bytes used) Cisco-1812-II#format flash: Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm] Format operation will destroy all data in "flash:". Continue? [confirm]
Trying to copy the system image file from the sup-bootflash to a new 64MB ATA flash card. Yes the software can support the 64MB card.
The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss. The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command. The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.
I have ordered RP2 and it will be having 8GB default memory. What is the difference between memory & Physical memory?Since I am able to see only 4GB memory in my ASR 1004. [code]
I had an E1000 for a couple of years that worked OK. Then it went nuts--sporadically dropped the signal, wouldn't show its web page, etc.--maybe a power surge, who knows? So I tossed it and got a new one on the theory that it would be a plug in replacement .The new unit had a good signal, but also wouldn't show its web page, so I couldn't configure security. I removed Network Magic and everything else I could see pertaining to the old unit. However, the CD for the new unit still gives me: " Your router has already been set up. You need to use an Easy Setup Key that you can use to get other computers connected." Needless to say, I don't have such a thing. Cisco Connect is not installed at this point, so I can't go into it to create one.How can I purge the remains of the old unit so the new one will install properly?
as my Netgear FVX538v2 router recently died I would like to replace this router by an enhanceable Cisco product. I'm thinking of a Cisco 2901 model that will be connected to the cable modem of my ISP and has to support PPPoE over the WAN port. The Cisco router should provide the following physical interfaces:
+ 2 WAN ports (10/100/1000 Mbps, RJ-45) + 8 LAN ports (10/100/1000 Mbps, RJ-45) + Serial Port for terminal program access + other options the FVX538v2 does provide
Will a Cisco Router 2901 be sufficient to replace a Netgear FVX538v2 device? What modules do I have to purchase? What additional licenses (data, UC, Sec?) do I have to pay for?
I replaced a Netgear router with a similar Netgear router, but the LAN is no longer working. The old Netgear router would drop internet, but LAN would work. Replaced it, the new Netgear router works fine with the internet (cable modem), but the LAN with two computers will not work. The desktop with Windows XP, and a laptop with Windows 7. After runing network setups on both computers several times, I have been unable to reestablish the LAN, however internet access via the router is working. Reinstalled the old router and the LAN works fine, allowing file and printer sharing. Old router is a Netgear WGR614v2, new router is a Netgear WNR2000how to reconfigure the router/computers to get the LAN working again with new router.
I wanted to know how many sodium memory slots the 1841 Routers have so i can upgrade to more then 128mb of DRAMI want ideally 256+on the Cisco website in the diagrams they dont say if it has 1 or 2 slots
Customer is using AIM-ATM AIM with a VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 card installed, and using the E1s in ATM mode. They have recently migrated to ISRG G2, but; ISR G2 (2911) dosen't support AIM Modules, and there is no relevant module for ATM.So is there anything we can do to accomplish same functionality on ISR G2 ?
I need to upgrade compact flash memory card for a 3800 router. Basically i want to upgrade code on this router and the current flash size (64Mb) cannot hold new image. I wanted to check if i swap the old flash (64 Mb) with a new one 256 mb, i will loose vlan.dat file since it's stored in flash. Is there a way i can copy vlan.dat to new flash which has new code before i change the boot statements and reload the router?
