After inserting a 256MB/PC133/SDRAM/DIMM it would not post during the boot, hangs.If i take out the chip it works fine.The on-board memory is 128, so the 256 is the max it would take to a total of 384. According to the documentation this should work.The memory chip is a Transcend chip, basically Samsung.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWe currently have a Cisco 1841 router with version 12.4(1c) of IOS using image c1841-ipbase-mz.124-1c.bin. Our goal is to make it so our router can fully support IPv6. The current IOS version cannot. I've seen a site that seems to indicate 12.4T does support with IP Base image but recently had Cisco tell me with the latest IOS release 15.1.4.M4 that I have to use either the "Advanced Enterprise Services" or "Advanced IP Services" image. Did Cisco just remove IPv6 from IPBase in later IOS releases?
Also I've seen conflicting specs on the max amount of Flash and DRAM the router can support. The following link shows that 384MB is the max for DRAM and 128MB max for flash. We're looking to upgrade ours from 128MB and 32MB respectively but as mentioned I've seen it where higher amounts are supported. In fact we bought a backup 1841 to have and it has a 256MB Flash card in it.URL
Last but not least. Where can I find a straightforward documention of this situation where we may have to upgrade our Flash and DRAM and then upgrading the IOS?

I need to add memory to my ASA 55xx's (running 8.2(2)), some of which are config'd active/active or active/standby. The docs say that ram must be identical, which makes sense for production. My question is this: can I upgrade the standby units first, make them active, and then upgrade their mate? Or must I schedule downtime to take the pair down for the upgrade?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded our ASA5540 to 8.4, THEN noted the increased requirements for Memory. I purchased the 2Gig upgrade, but when installing in the Primary unit today, noted that there were 4 slots. Slots 1/3 had 512Mb modules, so I installed the 2 x 1Gig modules in slots 2/4.
The ASA5540 came up clean, and it "sees" the entire 3Gig of memory.
My question: Is this a SUPPORTED configuration? All documentation I have read only mentions 2Gig of memory. Also, If I had FOUR x 1Gig memory modules, would the ASA5540 support the 4Gigs of memory?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried last night to upgrade the memory in my old 5510. It's about 5 years old and has the single memory socket. I followed the instruction included in the kit:

I did wear an ESD wrist strap (genuine Cisco at that!) and ensured the memory was fully seated, the handles locked in.Upon restarting the ASA, for over 15 minutes, it stayed in mode: Power LED steady, Status LED flashing, other LEDs off. No response to attempts to SSL via Putty. I powered it off, verified the memory was indeed fully seated, and re-installed the original 256 MB module. It powered up normally in less than 5 minutes. Is there anything else to try before returning the memory? Tonight, I can try the same new memoy module and see if it works.
I recently upgraded the flash and the RAM on one of my ASA 5505 lab machines. The flash was upgraded from 128 to 512MB and the RAM was also upgraded from 256 to 512MB. I am using asa845-k8.bin. The firewall boots and runs file until you issue the reload command. The system shuts down but never reloads.

When I turned the PC back on I had lost my whole home network and cannot get internet acces back. I have checked my modem by direct connecting it to my laptop. I have checked my linksys box by doing the same. I can see the linksys on my laptop but cannot access the internet. On my desktop I get nothing?The home network and internet access all disappeared when I upgraded memory.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 1841 running IOS Image C1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-3i and the following feature sets: IP, Firewall, VPN, IPS and NAC. I am having an issue viewing the Additional Task tab under the Configure menu in the GUI. Without doing much research i assumed this is an browser issue and new code would fix it. When i look on the download software there are many different codes availible and i am unsure which i need to get to update the software on my IOS.

we need to interconnect multiple branch office (CISCO 1841 with VWIC-1MFT-E1 ) via E1 links to the main site (CISCO 3745 with NM-8E1 IMA ). We succeeded to connect them using the same VWIC-1MFT-E1 at both sides (Branch / HQ), but I need to connect up to 10 sites in the future, so we thought that may be we can use ( NM-8E1 IMA) to make it possible and to save some space for any future upgrades. Honestly, we couldn't find any E1 related commands to configur this card (NM-8E1 IMA). Did we choosed the wrong card (NM-8E1 IMA).?

We have a 7206 router which acts as a MPLS Hub router for around 100+ remote locations. Bandwidh at mpls hub(terminated on this router) is 50 Mbps.
We have noticed that Memory utilization in this router gradually increases and when it reaches 100% this router hangs. It happence in frequesncy of 10 days and we have to restart the router when memory is 100%.
CPU utilization is normal i.e below 20%, WAN bandwidth will never cross 30mbps.
We are running OSPF on this router
I have a cisco 2821 router configured as a CME version 7.1. Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.

First time we use 3845 router for sending the data and 47 Min are required to complete the data, during this link utilization was 100%. After that we send same data through 1841 router & 46 Min are required for the same. Only difference in data transfer is CPU Utilization of 1841 router goes 30% & 5 % of 3845 router Can we use 1841 router instead of 3845 router ? .
