I read that there are internal and external flash memory in 3725 router that can max up to 128mb. So adding the sizes of internal and external flash memory, will that total to 256mb?
And also is the internal flash of 3725 just the same with its external flash?
I just read the Removing and Installing CompactFlash Memory Cards in Cisco 2800 Series Routers instructions and there was nothing said regading powering down the router. Are these CompactFlash cards hot swappable??

I have a cisco 2821 router configured as a CME version 7.1. Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.

The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss.
The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command.The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.

I have 3725 router with internal CF and external slot for CF. I tried upgrading and ended up deleting the iOS version on the internal flash, and can not now put the iOS back!! I turned it off.... so there was no active iOS..
I have tried formatting the CF card on an 1841 but the 3725 won't read it. It is obviously stuck at ROMMON
What is the correct way to format a CF card so my 3725 will read it and I can get an iOS back on it!!
I recently upgraded the flash and the RAM on one of my ASA 5505 lab machines. The flash was upgraded from 128 to 512MB and the RAM was also upgraded from 256 to 512MB. I am using asa845-k8.bin. The firewall boots and runs file until you issue the reload command. The system shuts down but never reloads.

Before I made the change, everything was working correctly; I could ping Google.com from a computer inside my LAN and would get response from one of Google's public IP's like normal.
I had a separate DHCP/DNS server running Windows Server 2008 handling the DHCP request and DNS queries.

I'm trying to configure a SPAN session on a Cisco 3725 router, but it won't let me complete the command. The router has two Fast Ethernet interfaces: 0/0 and 0/1. I'm trying to configure a SPAN session with Fa0/0 as the source interface and Fa0/1 as the destination interface. By discovering the network I mean go through all the routers and switches and retrieve the IP routing table from routers and the forwarding table from switches. With the routers I have no problem. For the switches I need to know for each port the MAC addresses and the Vlans. Basically it's use SNMP to find a port number from a MAC address. To do that i followed this tutorial: [URL]
The problem is that I'm using a Cisco 3725 Router with IOS 12.4 (21) and a NM-16ESW module to work as a Switch and when I use the OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.17 corresponding to the BRIDGE-MIB as it follows:

have 3 Catalyst 3750 in same stack, the IOS version is 12.2(53)SE2. Today we can not telnet/ssh to this switch, but ping is ok, and switch function is ok. I upgraded the ios from cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-37.SG1.bin (12.8MB Size) to cat4500-entservices-mz.122-37.SG1.bin (13.8 MB SIZE) and deleted the previous IOS.But previous IOS is still getting shown in sh bootflash: command. Furthermore, dir bootflash: commands shows there is only one IOS , which is running. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have this 2801 in a critical environment. We had a brief power blip, and even though the router is on UPS, something happened. Anyway, after working with TAC, they determined the flash card had gone corrupt. Lucky for me I had a spare 2801 in my office, I grabbed that flash card and plugged it in and we're back up and going.
TAC sent me a new flash card. No matter what I do, I cannot get IOS to load on this thing! I am stuck in rommon. Here's what I've tried:
tftpdnld in rommon, times out. using another 2801 as a tftp-server. doesn't complete. using xmodem. ugh. never seems to get started. booting the router with a known good flash card, so I can get to ena, and "copy tftp flash".
have used tftpd32, Solar Winds TFTP server, What's Up Gold TFTP server, and open source tftp from sourceforge. With the tftp32, it always gets to exactly 73% download and then times out (it says, I have a feeling it's noty really a timeout). I have tried having the router and tftp server the only devices on a switch, i have tried the router plugged directly into the tftp server with a cross connect cable. No happiness. The open source tftp server reported (and I have to paraphrase, I am not near the router) "client does not support block number recount" or something like that. The client being the 2801.
The iOS file is about 45M. Someone asked me if the flash card was formatted...would that matter? would the tftp even start if it wasn't?
OK, I've gone on long enough. TAC is dispatching a new card AND 2801!
