I just received a 1812 model unit flash memory C class.
I cannot free the space from CF; after format, I receive the same amount of space:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade a router 2811, the flash has 64 mb and currently has a IOS 32 mb, but require update it with a IOS 37 mb.
What should I do?, I cannot have the two ios in the flash.
Is there any way to check how much of the total buffer size is utlized at any given moment out of the total space or memory allocated in Cisco 4500 switch For eg - show logging output is as below for a 4500 switch
Syslog logging: enabled (0 messages dropped, 1 messages rate-limited, 0 flushes, 0 overruns, xml disabled, filtering disabled)
Buffer logging: level debugging, 31644 messages logged, xml disabled, filtering disabled
Exception Logging: size (8192 bytes)
From above is there any command to check hw much size is currently utlized , by 31644 messages ..or how much of the located buffer size is utilized.
I want to upgrade IOS on 1811 from 12.4(11)T3 to 12.4(15)T16.
As a standard CF size in the 1811 is 32 M, so I have to free some space.
Here the strange things starts.
dir issued on the router shows thet ther is no image on the flash!

The other strange thing is that some space is allocated for something!
(flash size) 3194060 - 12771328 (free) = 19169280 (space allocated to ???)
Just now router is running IOS c181x-advipservicesk9-mz.124-11.T3.bin The size of this IOS is 19 155 816, that is approximately equal to the size that allocated to something invisible.
fsck flash and format flash doesn't work. Bug Toolkit doesn't show any bugs similar to my issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had an issue today on a 4507r today where when I formatted the compact flash in slot0: (512mb) it caused the CPU to spike to 100% this took about 1.5 hours and did not cause adjacency loss or any thing, but was worrisome. This was a sup IV is this normal and should u let it complete like I did? Also when I copied the os to it from boot flash it caused the same behavior. I have done this a bunch in 6500 sup 720 without this issue?

While executing the operation I got the following error - mifs[8]: Failed to create superblock %Error formatting flash (I/O error).As a result the flash is no longer accessible by the switch. I spoke with Cisco and they indicated that a switch reload would remount the flash and make it accessable again but the .bin file would need to be reloaded using the xModem recovery procedure (what a pain).The next IOS version 15.0(2)SE1 will supposedly fix this bug but it has not been released yet. In the meantime if you are running 15.0(2)SE you may want to hold off performing a "format flash:" function on a 2960S.

Whenever I transfer the .bin file using XMODEM, it prompted an error "Transfer cancelled by remote computer"
I have a 2600 router i intend to use as an access server. I doesn't have an IOS so i downloaded via tftp. I should see the file at Dir flash:, but all i get are these error

And if i tried to download again the file, its failing because it seems that there aren't any space available in my flash. Here is the mem info.

Here's what i think. The first file download could be corrupted and it eats up the space on my flash. My question is how can I reformat the flash so that I can re download the IOS? And if in case that fails also, any other way i can recover this machine.
I have a cisco 2821 router configured as a CME version 7.1. Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.

The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss.

I just upgraded a 1812w from 15.1 to 15.2 and did NOT change any configs/passwords or anything else.
My WiFi Clients are not able to associate any more. Failure is:

I can't find either a WLAN-configuration guide for 15.2.

I'm having several issues with IPv6 and ZBF. I've narrowed one of them to a very simple setup. I tried 15.1(4)M in GNS2 and 15.1(4)M3 on a 1812.
The setup is
[PC] ----- [R1] ------ [R2]
R1 and R2 are interconnected by IPv6 only and there is a tunnel over that link to carry IPv4 from R2 to PC.
And I'm trying to ping PC from R2 with IPv4. We're looking at the R1 config mainly. (the other are included for completeness)
When I try to ping the PC from R2, I get this on R1 console:
%FW-6-DROP_PKT: Dropping icmp session [::]:0 [::]:0 on zone-pair zp_vpn_to_lan class cm_icmp with ip ident 0
Which really doesn't make much sense because zone vpn and zone lan are purely IPv4 and should never see IPv6 traffic as such ...
If I remove all ZBF related config, then traffic flows without problem.
