Right Now we are using Cisco switch model c4006.and we are looking to replacement for the same . Below are our requirements.
1: Around 120 Ports (100 Mbps)
2: Around 30 Ports (1Giga)
3: Layer2/Layer3
I have a cisco 2821 router configured as a CME version 7.1. Now I want to upgrade the IOS to version 15 to get a CME version 8.6 but I faced a problem that the flash of the 2821 is 64MB and the IOS version 15 required flash 128MB. I tried to replace this flash with another 128MB installed on Cisco 2811 router but when I installed the 128MB flash on the 2821 CME the 2821 didn't boot from it.
View 5 Replies View Relatedwe're running some HP ProCurve 2520's (24 port PoE for desktops/phones) and 2510's for our server racks. The CPU's are a bit weak from what we can tell and sometimes end up with issues on them. The specs on the EAS series look like a decent jump compared to the older HP's. However I've never worked with these ever.
My other option is to go back to Cisco. However to make it fit our budget, we have to dump gig switches for 10/100 + PoE. Which isn't really a major issue on the desktop switches. We'll naturally put gig versions on the server racks. I like our ProCurves, however they cause issues from time to time.
I've also considered going back to Adtran, however I haven't kept up with what they have to offer. I'm tempted to play it safe and go the Cisco route. We're using ASA5510's active/passive for routing/firewall (gig versions).
This is an easy question for all the architechs and designers out there. I have a stack of 3508-XL switches and one of them failed. we have 2 spares but hese are more than 10 years old and have reaced EoL.What is the equivalent switch of a 3508-xl replacement today?

The customer has pointed out the 2960 switch does not satisfy the requirement to support 4096 multicast groups (even though it is more than adequate for the number of active multicast groups). View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my home network to include a new DOCIS 3 cable modem (SB 6121), RV 180 router, and a wireless access point. I have about 7 computers/devices on the network. A computer connected directly to the new modem was pulling down 30MB/sec (various speed tests), but when RV 180 was inserted between modem and network, downloads dropped to 10MB/sec. I worked with tech support (very kind), baselined the router, without improvement, and support conclusion was "hardware issue, need to RMA router".The one thing we failed to configure on the router was the Domain Name (Networking/LAN/IPv4 (local network)/DHCP/Domain Name:). Once I entered the domain name that actually matched the Workgroup / Domain name of the computers on the network, downloads and speed tests jumped to 30MB/sec consistently, and web browsing performance significantly improved.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 cat3524xl's and a 3550. I recently did something to the IOS that makes the switch not display any output to the console port. Not sure what I did but even doing the reset as instructed in the Cisco docs by holding the mode button foe 2 seconds after boot. I get the flashing green light but still no output. All POST tests pass according to lights so I tried different cables and all baud rates with no change. I hoocked switches back up in lab and can see them in CDP neibors but do not know how to access them from there as they have no IP assigned to them. Remember this is two of them with exact same issue.

Distribution is Cisco Catalyst 3560 and the Access Layer is Cisco 2960 Switches.There about 30 VLANs present in the infrastructure which is advertised to all switches using VTP. Inter VLAN routing is done at the Core Switches by creating Interface VLANs for every L2 VLAN.
1. The new VLAN 150 needs to be created on the new Cisco SMB Switch. If I create a corresponding interface VLAN 150 on the Core Switches , will it route traffic to other VLANs just like it is currently working for Cisco Catayst 2960 Switches ?
2. Upon checking I could see that VTP is not supported on Cisco SMB Switches and I would need to go for GVRP if I need to advertise VLAN information to other Switches. But since GVRP is supported only on CatOS and there is no inter operability between GVRP and VTP , I would need to create VLANs manually on the new Switch . Is that correct ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedA customer is expanding their network into another wing, and they have a good number of existing Small Business switches (specifically the SGE-2010P - [URL] that they're interested in possibly deploying. They have a full-blown Cisco infrastructure and voice deployment (Cat 6500 core switches, 3750 switch stacks, Communications Manager w/ over 1,000 phones, etc.).
The general concern is whether there is ANY known issues or concerns with trying to mix/integrate the Small Business equipment with non-SMB infrastructure. Looking at the datasheet for this switch, it's clearly PoE, supports QoS, although it doesn't specifically indicate it can provide a voice/auxiliary VLAN for a phone detected by CDP - that would be a big deal. So basically, "a switch is a switch", and I'm just posing this question to make sure there's no reason (technically or from a support standpoint) that we would not recommend integrating these.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy issue: I have installed a firewall within my network. Currently all my clients default gateway defaults to GW:192.168.1.1. I would like all my internet traffic to route to the firewall ip 192.168.1.30. My Primary switch ip is 192.168.1.10, which is a 3560G running 12.2(25)SEE2 IPBASE-M.
My main problem is, I do not have access to the gateway, so I am trying to route internet traffic from within my switch to the firewall. I have already tried Route-Map, but seems this version of the OS does not support. I have already tried Policy-Map, but same as above. I have also tried IP ROUT command, but it did not work either.
And remember, I would like to perform the routing from the switch, because I do not have access to the default gateway which is a router to perform forward internet traffic to the firewall.

I would like to get the temperature status from this 2960 switch (and several other models. Normally this OID should be:.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.6 But it does not return anything.
The termperature status can be found from the command line by running:"sh env temp" This reports back ok, so I assume there is a temperate gauge in the switch.
This oid is part of the "CISCO-ENVMON-MIB" mib and accouding to the Cisco MIB selector it is supported on my switch and IOS - 12.2(25).
(Another thing I woudl like to monitor and should be supported is the fan status oid (.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.3). That doesn't return anything either.
What do I need to do to get the temperature environment status from SNMP query?
I have set up an ACL on my 3750 switch to deny icmp from PC A on our inside network to PC B on a different VLAN on our inside network using the following ACLs:

These ACLs belong to an access-list that also limits ip traffic to a few specific machines.When I try pinging from PC A I receive a reply message back from PC B. Shouldn't this configuration block any ICMP from PC A to PC B and from PC B to PC A? I would have expected the first ACL statement to block any packets associated with ICMP and when that didn't work I tried the second configuration.

I have been experiencing a strange problem i have a switch stack of 3750 in which 4 switches are cascaded. there is one one switch shows PROVISIONED status when I run "show switch". i have verified the stack cable connectivity its OK.
now when i try to console that particular switch i am unable to access it as well. I tried to reboot that switch and on reboot it only shows one LED syst blink once and after that remains constant and nothing happens to other LEDS. from the back of the switch FAN is working fine.
I have a couple of Switches Blade 3120, working as active-standby model (HSRP) on a new site deployment. There are other 20 sites more or less, working on the same model, without issues. But in this one, we are seeing a high cpu usage. The traffic going through the platform is 600Mbps (on peaks), and in this case we have 40% of CPU usage. Traffic should be close to 3 Gbps. When we tried to send the whole traffic through the platform, active switch began to drop packets on the majority of interfaces.
When we analyze the CPU usage, there is a special process called "HL3U bkgrd proce" always have the most CPU use, but we do not know what concerns. We do not know if it is caused because there are PBRs configured. It should not matter. How I mentioned, there are other sites working fine and have had always the same PBR number.
What is causing the high usage?. Is there a special debug we could to perform to diagnose the issue?. Also, we have seen a high interrupt CPU usage (9% in this case).

I have several 2960s and 3750s and two 6506 (ws-cac-3000w) recently move to new location The power outlet is the same ,but Volt is different current 2960/3750 use this(one phase 3 wire) 220v and new location change to (from 3 phase 4 wire -> one phase 220v)6506 current using(one phase 3 wire) and will be change to (from 3 phase 4 wire -> one phase 220v)
I had search doc about power supply /cable , only show support single phase 220 v ,but not description vlot between each wire !!Does new location power outlet suit for 2960/3750s power and 6500 ws-cac-3000w ?!? Do I need chane power outlet back to current using?
