Apr 23, 2012Just want to ask if 4-port serial HWIC-4T is compatible for the Cisco 2801?We need additional HWIC for Fast Ethernet but the problem is we don't have already slot for it.We already have two HWIC-2T 2-port serial which is inserted at slot 1 and slot 3. We're planning to buy 4-port HWIC-4T so we can use the slot 3 for HWIC Fast Ethernet.if it's possible to have the 4-port serial HWIC-4T be inserted to Cisco 2801.

Dec 28, 2011I have a 2811 ISR, a lab unit with almost nothing yet configured other than some IP networks on serial and FE interfaces to ping to other lab routers. And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required.It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

Jun 3, 2013I have a module of HWIC-4ESW installed into Cisco 2811 router where 3 WAN link is terminited. Suddently WAN links stopped working from last night. I have performed shutdown and no shutdown in the interface but still the the WAN link was not working. After performing a reboot the WAN link started working. No error logs were generated while the WAN link was down.

I installed the module into the router and the router recognizes the module. I can configure the ports as access or trunk ports, but I am unable to configure the channel-protocol or the channel-group for the Etherchannel. The IOS on the router is 15.1 M with the upgraded Bootloader version 12.3.

We have a Cisco Router 1921 with one HWIC-4ESW in trunking with a RuggedCom switch RSG2100.When I use the GigabitEthernet port to make a trunk, I create 2 sub-interfaces (one for each Vlan) and configure the Port on Switch as Trunk, the inter-VLan routing works with no problem.But now I need to use this configuration using the HWIC-4ESW on Router, and I can't do this work. I try creat interface Vlan for each vlan, and try creating the VLans at Router Vlans database, but no way. At router I enter in interface and try to do the switchport trunk command to add a Vlan, but doesn't work.

Apr 9, 2013When we install an HWIC-2FE card in slot 0 or slot 1 of a 3845, the interface fails to pass any ping packet greater in size than 449 bytes. It works fine up until that limit is reached, but then fails completely on a larger size packet. If we move to slot 3 or slot 4 on the 3845, the card works just fine! I have looked through the cisco official bug tracker for HWIC-2FE, but could not find a similar symptom listed. We're running advanced ip services 12.4(24)T7 code on the routers. Any software fix or if this is a platform problem with the 3800 series.

Apr 14, 2012I currently have a Cisco 2621 powering a network at our co-location facility... It's a simple setup and is working well. The colo provides a redundant HSRP uplink, so I have their two uplinks going into a Dell switch. From that Dell switch I have a uplink into FastEthernet0/0 on the 2621, configured with my routing network, and then FastEthernet0/1 gets an address from my block of routable IP. FastEthernet0/1 then plugs into another Dell switch where I have all my servers connected. The servers get public routable IP addresses and use the address on FastEthernet0/1 as their default gateway.
It's time to upgrade off the 2621, so I aquired a Cisco 2811 which has two FE interfaces, as well as a modular HWIC-4ESW switch. My question is, can I get rid of the Dell Switch A in the setup above and just use the internal switch on the 2811 to accomplish the same thing? And I if I did this, would my two uplinks from the colo plug into ports 1 and 2 of that HWIC, and then port 3 would physically connect into FE 0/0? Or can I logically do that via configuration in the Cisco? I'm not sure how all this works and haven't received the new router yet, so I thought I'd get a head start and reach out to the experts.
My second question is unrelated, but each port on the HWIC switch cannot be configured as a network interface right? I'm pretty sure they can't as they aren't considered network interfaces but just thought I'd ask.
Cisco Infrastructure :: Two WS-X6148 With Even / Odd Port Failure?
Feb 8, 2012I have two WS-X6148-45AF linecards here that have been out of use for quite some time. Upon inserting them in one of our 6509-E's I noticed that both had "Minor Error"s on their module diagnostics.
I would have just assumed that the cards were dead and requested replacements, but both cards have the *exact* same diagnostic errors, which only seem to effect every-other port. That's too much of a coincidence for me, so I figured I'd ask on the forums and see if I'm just missing something obvious before I assume the worst. Are these cards both somehow damaged in the exact same way? Or is there some config/compatibility issue that I haven't heard of?

Oct 6, 2012I have 2 cat3524xl's and a 3550. I recently did something to the IOS that makes the switch not display any output to the console port. Not sure what I did but even doing the reset as instructed in the Cisco docs by holding the mode button foe 2 seconds after boot. I get the flashing green light but still no output. All POST tests pass according to lights so I tried different cables and all baud rates with no change. I hoocked switches back up in lab and can see them in CDP neibors but do not know how to access them from there as they have no IP assigned to them. Remember this is two of them with exact same issue.

Distribution is Cisco Catalyst 3560 and the Access Layer is Cisco 2960 Switches.There about 30 VLANs present in the infrastructure which is advertised to all switches using VTP. Inter VLAN routing is done at the Core Switches by creating Interface VLANs for every L2 VLAN.
1. The new VLAN 150 needs to be created on the new Cisco SMB Switch. If I create a corresponding interface VLAN 150 on the Core Switches , will it route traffic to other VLANs just like it is currently working for Cisco Catayst 2960 Switches ?
2. Upon checking I could see that VTP is not supported on Cisco SMB Switches and I would need to go for GVRP if I need to advertise VLAN information to other Switches. But since GVRP is supported only on CatOS and there is no inter operability between GVRP and VTP , I would need to create VLANs manually on the new Switch . Is that correct ?

Jul 27, 2011A customer is expanding their network into another wing, and they have a good number of existing Small Business switches (specifically the SGE-2010P - [URL] that they're interested in possibly deploying. They have a full-blown Cisco infrastructure and voice deployment (Cat 6500 core switches, 3750 switch stacks, Communications Manager w/ over 1,000 phones, etc.).
The general concern is whether there is ANY known issues or concerns with trying to mix/integrate the Small Business equipment with non-SMB infrastructure. Looking at the datasheet for this switch, it's clearly PoE, supports QoS, although it doesn't specifically indicate it can provide a voice/auxiliary VLAN for a phone detected by CDP - that would be a big deal. So basically, "a switch is a switch", and I'm just posing this question to make sure there's no reason (technically or from a support standpoint) that we would not recommend integrating these.

Well, I know how to forward a range of ports to a single IP, but how is it possible to forward a port range for all the IPs in the LAN?

The SCE has 4 modules 1X10GE-L-V2 (currently in use 2), I was investigated and the truth is that I not found anything concrete about how to configure the SCE to "pass" etherchannel through it?
